MULHERES DOCENTES NO ENSINO SUPERIOR: PROBLEMATIZANDO QUESTÕES DE GÊNERO NA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PAMPA

This paper discusses the presence of women as teachers in higher education, based on the analysis of academic, professional and personal trajectories of five female professors of the Federal University of Pampa. The analysis of a virtual questionnaire answered by the participants allowed to understand the reasons which led these women to choose a teaching training degree, an area considered typically feminine, and to reveal aspects that make the university a means of reproduction of gender differences. There were raised, too, quantitative data on the number of male and female professors by field of study, revealing there is still a gender division in certain areas at the University. The discussion takes gender studies as theoretical support, in order to discuss historical, social and cultural issues involved in the constitution of the individuals, especially in their professional choices.O presente artigo discute a presença das mulheres como docentes no ensino superior, com base na análise da trajetória acadêmica, profissional e pessoal de cinco professoras docentes da Universidade Federal do Pampa. A análise de um questionário virtual respondido pelas participantes permitiu compreender os motivos que levaram estas mulheres a escolher a licenciatura, uma área considerada tipicamente feminina, além de revelar aspectos que tornam a universidade um meio de reprodução de diferenças de gênero. Foram levantados, também, dados quantitativos do número de professores e professoras por área de conhecimento, revelando que ainda existe uma divisão sexista em determinadas áreas na Universidade. A discussão toma como suporte teórico os estudos de gênero, a fim de problematizar questões históricas, sociais e culturais implicadas na constituição dos sujeitos, sobretudo nas suas escolhas profissionais
