    A STUDY ON SHOPPER’S EXPERIENCE IN SHOPPING MALL BASED ON THE SERVICE QUALITY FACTORS

    In the modern world, shopping has become an essential routine for the people living in our country. Shopping mall is viewed not only as a purchasing centre but also as an area for the people to get together, socialize as well as for finding entertainment, etc. Since, a transition can be noticed from the traditional shopping centre to an area of community engagement, the proposed study focuses on understanding various service quality factors offered by the shopping mall and also its implications. The paper also investigates the demographic nature of the respondents where the significance between each group is taken into consideration. The structural equation modelling analysis provides important insights to understanding the impacts of different quality components on shopping experiences across. Based on the test performed, it is found out that all the three independent variables are having a positive impact on the shopper’s response and also the demographic study states that there is a significant difference in the shopper’s response across the different age groups.   Keywords:  Service Quality, Shoppers Response and Personal Attentio

    Captive breeding, developmental biology and commercial production of Dravidia fasciata- An indigenous ornamental fish of the Western Ghats of India

    Ornamental fishes of the Western Ghats of India have great demand in the export market. At present these fishes are collected from the wild and exported. Hence many times, the demand could not be met due to short supply. The only remedial measure for a sustainable supply is to produce the fish in captive conditions. Unfortunately, the breeding technology for the ornamental fishes of the Western Ghats of India has not been attempted seriously till date. The present paper is almost a pioneering attempt to develop captive breeding technology for 12 prioritized species of the indigenous ornamental fishes of the Western Ghats of India. Dravidia fasciata is one of them. It is popularly known as Melon barb. It is a beautiful barb, growing to a maximum size of 80 mm. In the present paper the methodology of captive breeding of this fish is provided with the economics of its production. Melon barbs were collected from the wild and brought to the hatchery of College of Fisheries in oxygen filled plastic bags and gradually acclimatized to the captive conditions. Its size at first maturity, sexual dimorphism, and developmental biology were studied and described with photographs. The total length (TL) at first maturity for males was 50 mm (50-55 mm) and 40 mm for females (40-45 mm). A sexually mature male developed beautiful pinkish red tinge all over the body. The black bands over the body also became deeper in colour during this time. The intensity of the colour reached its maximum during the courtship activities. Male also possessed nuptial tubercles on the operculum which could be identified only by keen observation. But a sexually mature female did not develop any colour change by the onset of sexual maturity. The results of the study clearly demonstrated that D. fasciata could be successfully produced in captivity through scientific management of brooders, eggs, larvae and hatchlings. The successful development of captive breeding technology is likely to pave way towards commercialization of the technology thus leading to the sustainable export of the species

    Differentiable Rendering for Pose Estimation in Proximity Operations

    Differentiable rendering aims to compute the derivative of the image rendering function with respect to the rendering parameters. This paper presents a novel algorithm for 6-DoF pose estimation through gradient-based optimization using a differentiable rendering pipeline. We emphasize two key contributions: (1) instead of solving the conventional 2D to 3D correspondence problem and computing reprojection errors, images (rendered using the 3D model) are compared only in the 2D feature space via sparse 2D feature correspondences. (2) Instead of an analytical image formation model, we compute an approximate local gradient of the rendering process through online learning. The learning data consists of image features extracted from multi-viewpoint renders at small perturbations in the pose neighborhood. The gradients are propagated through the rendering pipeline for the 6-DoF pose estimation using nonlinear least squares. This gradient-based optimization regresses directly upon the pose parameters by aligning the 3D model to reproduce a reference image shape. Using representative experiments, we demonstrate the application of our approach to pose estimation in proximity operations.Comment: AIAA SciTech Forum 2023, 13 pages, 9 figure

    Essays on Creative Ideation and New Product Design

    Creative ideation, i.e., the generation of novel ideas, represents the terminus-a-quo in the design and development of innovative products. In my dissertation essays, I examine two approaches employed by firms for creative ideation, (1) channeled ideation, a closed approach, which involves applying replicable patterns or properties observed in historical innovations and (2) idea crowdsourcing, an open approach where firms invite crowds to contribute ideas to solve a specific challenge. In my studies, I clarify how firms can incorporate market-related information in the channeled ideation process and examine how the selection of ideas in crowdsourcing challenges relates to local and global novelty. In Essay 1, “Attribute Auto-dynamics and New Product Ideation,” I introduce a replicable property – attribute auto-dynamics, observed in several novel products, where a product possesses the ability to modify its attributes automatically in response to changing customer, product-system, or environmental conditions. I propose a typology of attribute auto-dynamics, based on an analysis of U.S. utility patents. Based on this typology, I specify a procedural framework for new product ideation that integrates market-pull relevant knowledge and technology-push relevant knowledge. I also illustrate how managers and product designers can apply the framework to identify new product ideas for specific target markets using a channeled ideation approach. In Essay 2, “Selection in Crowdsourced Ideation: Role of Local and Global Novelty,” I examine how the selection of ideas in crowdsourced challenges depends on the form of novelty – local or global. Firms often turn to idea crowdsourcing challenges to obtain novel ideas. Yet prior research cautions that ideators and seeker firms may not select novel ideas. To reexamine the links between idea novelty and selection, I propose a bi-faceted notion of idea novelty that may be local or global. Examining data on OpenIDEO, I find that the selection of novel ideas differs according to the selector, the form of novelty, and the challenge task structure.     NaRPA: Navigation and Rendering Pipeline for Astronautics

    This paper presents Navigation and Rendering Pipeline for Astronautics (NaRPA) - a novel ray-tracing-based computer graphics engine to model and simulate light transport for space-borne imaging. NaRPA incorporates lighting models with attention to atmospheric and shading effects for the synthesis of space-to-space and ground-to-space virtual observations. In addition to image rendering, the engine also possesses point cloud, depth, and contour map generation capabilities to simulate passive and active vision-based sensors and to facilitate the designing, testing, or verification of visual navigation algorithms. Physically based rendering capabilities of NaRPA and the efficacy of the proposed rendering algorithm are demonstrated using applications in representative space-based environments. A key demonstration includes NaRPA as a tool for generating stereo imagery and application in 3D coordinate estimation using triangulation. Another prominent application of NaRPA includes a novel differentiable rendering approach for image-based attitude estimation is proposed to highlight the efficacy of the NaRPA engine for simulating vision-based navigation and guidance operations.Comment: 49 pages, 22 figure

    Proteinuria in early detection of human leptospirosis

    Background: Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by spirochetes bacteria Leptospira spp. and is reported from all over the world. As the clinical signs and symptoms of Leptospirosis often are nonspecific and the disease is early mistaken for other major infectious febrile illness, laboratory test to confirm the clinical diagnosis thus is essential for optimal treatment and patient management.Methods: Serum and urine samples were collected from patients clinically suspected cases of Leptospirosis. Preparations of urine concentrate by precipitation and centrifugation.Results: It was interesting to note that immunoglobulins are present in the urine protein concentrate of patients with Leptospirosis on the day of admission in the hospital, with urine albumin reports either positive or negative. By ELISA test it was noted that antibodies present in urine and serum were of both IgM and IgG class against the Leptospiral antigens from three pathogenic serovars and one non-pathogenicserovars. In the immunospot test which was done and compared with standard ELISA test for serum antibodies using same antigen showed that antibodies present in urine protein concentrate, which was collected on the day of admission when patients come with suspecting symptoms of Leptospirosis.Conclusions: Proteinuria is the most frequent abnormality noted in all patients at some stage of illness. This is the first report on the presence of immunoglobulins in urine samples, which were found to be of IgM and IgG classes. These findings are of significant diagnostic potential as a simple immune-spot test can be done for detecting anti-leptospiral antibodies in urine samples of suspected cases. The present attempt was aimed at developing an immunospot test, a simple and rapid diagnostic test to detect Leptospirosis using urine samples of clinically suspected patients of the infection at the earliest. It was found to be in good correlation with standard ELISA method which is being used to detect serum antibodies in Leptospira infected patients using the same antigen

    Three-Year Clinical Outcomes of the First South Asian Prospective Longitudinal Observational IgA Nephropathy Cohort

    INTRODUCTION: Glomerular Research And Clinical Experiments—IgA Nephropathy in Indians (GRACE-IgANI) is the first prospective South Asian IgA nephropathy (IgAN) cohort with prespecified objectives, protocolized longitudinal follow-up, and extensive biosample collection. The baseline risk scores predicted high risk of kidney disease progression. METHODS: A total of 195 of 201 patients (97%) completed 3-year follow-up in September 2020. All patients received optimized supportive care, and those at high risk of progression were offered systemic corticosteroids. RESULTS: A total of 76 patients (76 of 193, 39.4%) had rapid progression in 3 years (≥5 ml/min per 1.73 m(2) decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] per year). A total of 72 patients (72 of 195, 36.9%) experienced the composite outcome (CO), defined as ≥50% fall in eGFR, eGFR < 15 ml/min per 1.73 m(2), commenced kidney replacement therapy or death, in 3 years. At each scheduled follow-up, achievement of proteinuria level < 1 g/d significantly delayed the time to the CO. The receiver operating characteristic curve of average annual decline in eGFR ≥ 5 ml/min per 1.73 m(2) had 86% sensitivity and 89% specificity for CO in 3 years and had good discrimination from 1 year onwards (area under the curve 0.8, SE 0.04, 95% CI 0.7–0.9, P < 0.0001). The significant predictors of CO by Cox proportional-hazards model were as follows: baseline MEST-T2 score (hazard ratio [HR] 3.3, 95% CI 1.7–6.5, P < 0.001), along with 24-hour urine protein level ≥ 1 g/d (HR 2.1, 95% CI 1.1–3.9, P = 0.02), eGFR < 60 ml/min per 1.73 m(2) (HR 2.9, 95% CI 1.1–7.6, P = 0.03), and rate of eGFR decline ≥ 5 ml/min per 1.73 m(2)/yr (HR 2.7, 95% CI 1.6–4.8, P < 0.001) all measured at 6 months. Mortality was 11 of 195 (5.6%). CONCLUSION: We identified longitudinal clinical variables measured at 6 months and ≥5 ml/min per 1.73 m(2) annual fall in eGFR after kidney biopsy as important predictors for composite outcome in addition to baseline histology
