Integrated teaching in primary schools: A systematic review of current practices, barriers, and future developments

    Get PDF
Recent years have seen a rise in the use of integrated teaching in many nations across the globe due to the vital role it plays in the delivery of primary education programs that focus on the growth of students’ abilities. However, a comprehensive review of integrated classroom practices in elementary schools has yet to be conducted, making it difficult for interested readers to make education decisions about entering the sector or for established experts to keep up with the latest developments. To fill this gap, we performed a meta-analysis using the PRISMA procedure and a comprehensive literature search. Following the PRISMA guidelines, the study analyzed 24 publications on integrated teaching in primary school that appeared in Scopus and Google Scholar between 2014 and 2022. The study used text analysis and synthesis to highlight active nations, extracted keywords, drawing obstacles and challenges, and future research opportunities. The result reported 13 types of obstacles and challenges that need to be overcome in the long run. As such, five research directions were compiled based on prior publications, namely as teachers’ training program, integrated teaching materials, integrated teaching models, school policies and other interventions, and others. Interested readers, prospective researchers and policymakers could benefit from these findings by tackling existing issues or investigating recommended research directions

Analysis of the Factors Affecting the Household Income of Ethnic Groups in Vonhai District, Thai Nguyen Province

Ethnic groups by households in Vo Nhai District often inhabit in rural areas with low income and their life is much more difficult. Therefore, it’s necessary to study on the factors affecting their income in order to find a solution to improve their income. This research has used Cobb – Douglass Production Function, applying Stata software to evaluate the factors affecting household income of minorities. By collecting information from 310 households living in Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam, the result of analysis showed that age of householder, cost, number of inhabitants in the family, level of education of the householders, employees, assets, land areas, bank loans which have an impact on the household income of ethnic groups. The study proposed solutions to help poor households expand on their production, improve their income, and enhance their living

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE COMPONENTS OF HEAD NURSES MANAGEMENT CAPACITY AND INFLUENCING FACTORS: A CASE STUDY IN VIETNAM

    Get PDF
The study is based on Chase 1994's approach to management capacity of head nurses and uses linear regression analysis to determine the relationship between the components of head nurses' management capacity with other influencing factors. The results show that factors such as age, seniority of management, degrees, seniority of work, and management degrees explain 39.1% of the change in professional capacity and 56% of the change in professional competence explaining 52% of the change in thinking ability, explaining 33% of the change in leadership skills and explaining 34% of the change in management skills of financial management. The relationship between management seniority and professional skills is statistically significant and negatively correlated. The relationship between qualifications, working seniority and human resource management skills is statistically significant and positively correlated. The relationship between qualifications, management degrees and thinking skills of head nurses is statistically significant and positively correlated. In addition, the research results also show that the relationship between the influencing factors and the components of the management capacity of head nurses is not statistically significant

Using fly ash treated by NaOH and H2SO4 solutions for Hg2+ and Cd2+ ion adsorption.

This paper presents the results of adsorption ability of heavy metal ions (Hg2+ and Cd2+) by fly ash (FA) before and after treatment using NaOH and H2SO4 solutions.  Original- and treated FA were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Specific surface area of FA before and after treatment was calculated by Brunauer – Emmett – Teller (BET) isotherm equation. The obtained results indicated that the morphology and specific surface area of FA changed clearly after treatment by acid or alkaline solutions. Adsorption capacity the Hg2+ and Cd2+ ion by FA was determined from data of UV-Vis spectra. After treatment, the adsorption capacity of ions by FA increased remarkably in comparison with non-treated FA. The FA treated by NaOH solution has the adsorption capacity higher than FA treated by H2SO4 solution. The maximum adsorption capacity of the FA treated by NaOH solution for Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions at room temperature is 28.97 and 14.60 mg/g, respectively. The equilibrium adsorption data were described by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The results showed that equilibrium data were fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm. Keywords. Fly ash, treatment, adsorption capacity, heavy metal, Langmuir isotherm

Technical efficiency of smallholder banana production: a case study in Viet Nam

    Get PDF
Bananas are considered one of the leading trading crops due to their high demand all over the globe. Since the increasing demand leads to the expansion of global import, the existing literature is in dire need of updating, especially from the producing economies that fall in the category of developing nations. The study, thus, intends to estimate the critical efficiency of said area. Along with it, the study aims to determine the elements of banana production in the context of Vietnam using a stochastic frontier approach and technical efficiency technique. The sample of the study is the province of Vietnam named Hung Yen, and it made sure to collect the data from 160 farmers in 2022. Results of the study reveal that the farmers' technical efficiency fluctuates between the range of 89.68- 97.81%. However, the average technical efficiency of banana farmers was reported to be 95.92%. From the result, it is gauged that factors such as potassium, manure, distance, capital, and training showed positive signs at a 0.01 significance level. Also, the education and area coefficient show a positive sign at a 0.05 significance level. Finally, distance and district variables, which were the dummy variable, show a negative sign at 0.01 and 0.05 significance levels, respectively.Hoang Van Hung (Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY)), Nguyen Van Huong (Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY)), Le Thi Thuong (Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY)), Thai Thi Kim Oanh (Vinh University (VU)), Nguyen Van Chuong (University of Financial – Business Administration (UFBA)), Nguyen Cong Tiep (Viet Nam National University of Agriculture (VNUA)), Thai Van Ha (Ha Noi University of Business and Technology (HUBT)), Nguyen Thi Luong (Can Tho University (CTU))Includes bibliographical references

EFL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS AND PRACTICES ON LEARNING STRATEGIES TOWARDS ESP FOR POLITICAL EDUCATION: A CASE AT SCHOOL OF POLITICAL SCIENCES, CAN THO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM

    Get PDF
This study investigates the perceptions and practices of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students regarding learning strategies for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in the context of Political Education. The study focuses on six (6) learning strategies of Oxford (1990)'s classification, including (1) memorization strategies, (2) cognitive strategies, (3) compensation strategies, (4) metacognitive strategies, (5) affective strategies, and (6) social strategies. A mixed-methods approach is employed, including questionnaire and interviews. First, 101 items for the questionnaire are administered to investigate the perception and practice of students on learning strategies. Then interviews with students and teachers are employed to capture more details about the participants’ perception and practice on learning strategies towards ESP for Political Education. The study sample consists of 187 EFL students from School of Political Sciences, Can Tho University, Vietnam who are currently participating in ESP for Political Education course named "Specialized English for Political Education Course 2". The findings reveal that the majority of students have positive perceptions of ESP and recognize the importance of learning strategies in mastering this area.  Article visualizations
