    What Makes for an Effective Commune Health Center?

    This report, based on the main findings from a large-scale longitudinal study of rural health care in Viet Nam from 2008 to 2016, aims to develop the basic components of effective commune health center (CHC) models for different rural areas in Viet Nam.CHCs form the grassroots public health care system in rural Viet Nam, where two-thirds of the country's people live. The centers provide basic preventive care along with initial diagnoses, treatments and referrals to public hospitals.The report includes:A toolkit for assessing CHCs in different contexts identifying best practicesAn analysis of three models for the effective CHCPolicy recommendations aimed at developing major components of CHC model

    Introduction: This paper is the result of the research “Development of bra pressure measuring system using air pressure sensor” developed in the Ha Noi University of Science and Technology in 2019.  Proplem: The pressure of the bra on the human body affects the comfort of the wearer and the wearer's health. Therefore, bra pressure is one of the most important parameters taken into account when designing and manufacturing bras. Objective: To determine the pressure value of a bra, it is necessary to use a suitable pressure measuring device. Methodology: The device operates on the principle of resitive gas pressure sensor, with 8 measuring channels. The system is controlled by the computer via programming software in the Visual C language, measuring the pressure of the shirt on the position on the curved surface of the human body. Pressure values ​​and timed charts are displayed on the computer. The measuring device was tested with GE Druck DPI 610 pressure generator.  Results: Test results showed that the device has a sensitivity of 0.01 kPa, measuring range from 0.1to 10 kPa and an accuracy of 0.01 kPa. Conclusion: This measurement system is important for objectively assessing the pressure of the bra on the wearer.  Originality: This paper presents the results of research and design of the PB228 system when measuring the pressure of the bra on the wearer's body in static, dynamic and static-dynamic combined states.  Limitations: The accuracy of the device only applies in standard condition

    EFL teachers’ experiences of peer observation in Vietnamese academic institutions

    Peer observation is considered as a useful tool to enhance teachers’ professional development. Limited research on how peer observation is carried out in Vietnamese higher institutions and how teachers experience peer observation in their educational contexts. This study investigates the experiences of peer observation among Vietnamese teachers of English and their perceptions of the benefits and challenges of peer observation. The study employed a quantitative research method to collect data. Survey questionnaires were completed online via Google Forms by 22 teachers of English working in different universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City. The findings show that teachers’ perceptions and experiences of peer observation varied among academic institutions. The purposes of peer observation were different among different educational settings. Peer observation sessions tend to focus more on evaluation purposes than on professional development purposes which aim to improve the teaching performance of EFL teachers. Also, the procedures for implementing peer observation were not unanimous among academic institutions. The findings have several implications for stakeholders to reflect on the current practices of peer observation in their respective institutions with a view to improving the quality of this professional development tool to enhance English language teachers’ professional development

    Theoretical basis for reasonable population distribution in Tho Chu archipelago

    Tho Chu archipelago is one of administrative units of Kien Giang province, Hon Nhan- one of its islands - is selected to become A1 base point of baseline for Vietnam territorial waters. If Tho Chau district is established, it will contribute to identifying sovereignty of Vietnam Southwest sea area following the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, creating favourable conditions for islands’ socio-economic development, developing culture, enhancing effects of administration work and life quality of population in this island, firmly protecting sea border, securing island and sea sovereignty… However, the establishment of Tho Chu district appears in the context of streamlining administrative apparatus and limitation of capital for infrastructure construction in district level. This article focuses on the analysis of some factors affecting a reasonable population distribution in order to meet the requirement of building the Tho Chu into a district-level administrative unit in Kien Giang province

    BACKGROUND: In this study, we investigated the relationship between clinicopathologic factors, BRAF METHODS: From 2015 to 2018 all patients with suspected recurrent or metastatic radioiodine-negative DTC patients who underwent FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) were retrospectively reviewed. Suspected lesions on FDG PET/CT were biopsied and underwent BRAF RESULTS: Sixty-three consecutive patients, 55 (87.3%) female, with median age of 48 (range 17-81) were included.     Nutritional status and dietary intake before hospital admission of pulmonary tuberculosis patients

    Conducting research on nutritional status and dietary intake of pulmonary tuberculosis patients is essential for developing interventions in clinical nutrition practice and treatment during hospitalization, which can improve the quality of patients life. This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to determine nutritional status and some related factors (such as geography, occupation, educational level, economic classification, etc.) of 221 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who were examined and treated at the Respiratory Tuberculosis Department, National Lung Hospital in July 2019–May 2020. The results showed that the risk of undernutrition: According to BMI (Body Mass Index): 45.8% of patients were malnourished, 44.2% normal and 10.0% overweight/obese. According to MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference): 60.2% of patients were malnourished, 39.8% of patients were normal. According to SGA (Subjective Global Assessment): 57.9% of patients were at risk of undernutrition, of which 40.7% were at moderate risk of undernutrition and 17.2% risk of severe undernutrition. Classification of nutritional status according to serum albumin index: 50% of patients were malnourished, the rate of undernutrition of mild, moderate and severe levels was 28.9%, 17.9% and 3.2%, respectively. Most patients eat with others and eat less than four meals a day. The average dietary energy of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in was 1242.6 ± 46.5 Kcal and 1084 ± 57.9 Kcal, respectively. 85.52% of patients did not eat enough food, 4.07% had enough, 10.41% consumed excess energy. The ratio of energy-generating substances in the diet (Carbohydrate:Protein:Lipid) was on average 54:18:28 for males and 55:16:32 for females. Most of the study population had diets that did not meet the experimental study in terms of micronutrient content. Specifically, more than 90% do not meet the requirements for magnesium, calcium, zinc, and vitamin D. The water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins respond poorly, only about 30–40%. Selenium is the mineral with the best response rate, above 70%. Our findings revealed that the majority of the study subjects had poor nutritional status, as evidenced by diets lacking in essential micronutrients

    Quality of roof harvested rainwater from houses in ĂŽle-de-France area, France

    International audienceBacteriological and physico-chemical water quality parameters were measured in rainwater from 10 harvesting tanks, belonging to two types of rainwater harvesting systems (outside tanks for garden watering and underground tanks for both outdoor and indoor uses) in Île-de-France area (France). The presence of fecal coliforms, enterococci, Pseudomonas spp., coliforms, total flora at 22°C and 36°C and total DAPI direct counts showed a microbiological contamination in water and sediment samples for both tank types. However, the harvested rainwater quality suited some existing water quality guidelines for different non-potable purposes (bathing water or reused wastewater). To our knowledge, the presence of microorganisms in sediment compartment in rainwater harvesting tank has been studied for the first time here. Results showed that the sediment could be a reservoir of re-contamination for some microbial species, which would survive in the sediment and may be resuspended in the water column. In parallel, physical-chemical parameters (temperature, turbidity, conductivity, pH and dissolved organic carbon) of collected rainwater were found in the ranges reported in the literature. Algal blooms, principally green algae, occurred in the outside tanks during spring and summer as shown by the high chlorophyll levels (the highest chlorophyll content reached 209.8 µg/L with a water pH of 9.37). Nitrate and phosphate concentrations in water samples were low (respectively less than 5 mg/L and 0.5 mg/L) but high enough to support the development of microorganisms and especially photosynthetic microorganisms in the outside tanks. The difficulty to evaluate the microbial quality of roof-harvested rainwater due to the lack of suitable quality standards is underlined. Depending on the usage of the harvested rainwater, some treatments may be needed to get a better microbial quality and direct measurements for pathogens may be also needed to establish whether or not such harvested rainwater is safe for different types of uses
