    AWARENESS AND USE OF E-RESOURCES AMONG SOCIAL SCIENTISTS OF ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY AND ITS AFFILIATED COLLEGES

    Library and information centres are playing a crucial role in the growth and development of the nation directly/indirectly by providing better services to the members of the society. Social Scientists have been respected for their role models, setting the tone and lifting the quality of public life by the professional and personal integrity, penetrating intellect, dedication to public causes, philanthropic disposition and commitment to public service. Electronic resources have become the vital part of human life in the 21st century. A large portion of social scientists of Alagappa University and its affiliated colleges are aware about the e-resources, but they do not know all its techniques and applications. Further, large Social Scientists of the Alagappa University and its affiliated colleges still have no knowledge about the e-resources and related applications. The study shows that the age wise respondents’ frequency of visit to the institution library. It could be noted that out of the total 1230 respondents, 40.31 percent of them make daily library visit. In this study, 27.40 percent of them make library visit thrice a week and majority of the respondents in the age group 46-50 years make library visit thrice a week. The study also shows that the status wise respondents’ frequency of library visits. It could be noted that majority of the faculty respondents (60.25%) make library visit daily. The gender wise respondents’ frequency of library visits. It could be noted that majority of the male respondents (41.08%) make library visit daily

    User Perception on Open Access Resources among College Students in India: A Survey

    A study was conducted to investigate the accessibility and use of perception on open access resources used in the library and Information Science students inIdhaya College for Women. In this paper, an attempt has been made to study the awareness of open access resources. The methodology adopted for the study surveyed in which questionnaires, interviews, and observations were used in a collection of the data. A total of 131 respondents participated in the study. 80(61.07%) of the frequency are UG Students while 51(38.93%) are PG Students in the use of open access resources in Idhaya College for Women. show that the Using of open access resources 32(24.43%) respondents information access for Research purpose only. Show that the frequency-wise respondents used in open access resources in daily used in 25(19.08%). Show the Time Spend for the open access resources respondents used in Less than 2 hours used in 29(22.14%).Show that the used in open access resources in a maximum of respondents daily used in home 32(24.43%).: Show that the Problems of used in open access resources in a maximum of respondents Privacy problem faced in 27(20.61%),UG students access the problems of 20(20.62%) PG students access the problems of 7(20.59%).Show that the Storage of open access resources in the maximum of respondents PPT in 42(32.06%), followed by Word Document 28(21.37%).Show that the Impact of using open access resources of respondents Provides free online access to the necessary literature for my research strongly Agree for the 32 (24.43%) Agree for 46(35.11%)

    Awareness and Use of ICT among Undergraduate Students of Rural Areas in Dindigul District: A Study

    This study aims to analyze student’s awareness and use of ICT the rural area at Dindigul. A survey of the questionnaire was distributed randomly to the total of 150 students a rural area in Dindigul district. The survey research design was a study adopted. The data for quantitative research were analyzed for both descriptive and inferential statistic usingSPSS(version 23) software. A comparison of undergraduate students between awareness and use of ICT sources and services. Independent samples t-test and ANOVA test difference were performed across two groups, which are gender and age. The results of the tests conducted indicate that ICT integration is a great effectiveness for the students. The study found that majority of the respondents had ICT information needs on their academic engagements like class assignment and preparing exam updating subject Knowledge. The study recommended that the teaching needed to ICT oriented training program for rural students it improvetheir career development and education level

    Impact of Open Access Resources on Library and Information Science Students in India

    A study was conducted to investigate the accessibility and use of open access resources used in the library and Information Science PG students in Alagappa University DDE. In this paper, an attempt has been made to study the awareness of open access resources. The methodology adopted for the study surveyed in which questionnaires, interviews, and observations were used in a collection of the data. A total of 39 respondents participated in the study. It was concluded that most of the open access resources were not aware of most of the resources available hence they could not access and use them effectively. This study shows that majority of the student’s impact of the open access resources in that 16 (41%) of the frequency are male while 23(59%) are female in the use of open access resources in distance education students in Alagappa University.Show that 39(100%) respondents are Awareness of open access resources available from the library. Show that the maximum learning of open access resources 16(41%) respondents information access in the home, followed by library 11(28.2%), that the maximum Level of satisfaction of open access resources 25(64.10%) respondents information access in Satisfied,that the 17 (43.58%) use for the open access resources in 1 to 3 years

Patients from all over the world are becoming medical tourist in Kerala for low cost and health restorative alternative treatments. Speciality hospitals in Kerala are at the forefront of Medical Tourism. Many of the hospitals offer a complete package that includes consultancy with a medical specialist, diagnosis, appropriative medical treatment, pre and post operative care etc. The quality of health care offered by the doctors, nurses and support staff, makes Medical Tourism in Kerala the preferred choice of patients seeking healthcare solutions in World. Kerala has an excellent track record in the fields of tourism and health care. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has declared 2006-2007 as Medical Tourism Year in Kerala and they organized an International conference and exhibition on Health tourism in 2013 at Kochi, Kerala.     Information Search Strategies among LIS Professionals: A Case Study of Selected Institutions in India

    This study examined Information Search Strategies employed by Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals of selected institutions in India for research. Questionnaire was used as the main instrument for the gathering of data. Data collected were analyzed using simple frequency tables and mean. Search specialists can be found in libraries of all kinds, but are located especially in college and university libraries and in the information centre and other special libraries associated with business and industrial organizations, law firms and medical establishments. Some search specialists are freelance entrepreneurs, in business for themselves and actively marketing their services to special user populations. clients of online information retrieval search specialists include undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in academic libraries, and scientists, engineers, businessmen, doctors, lawyers, and many others using special libraries and information centres to help satisfy their information needs. The study revealed that most of the respondents belonging to various educational qualifications prefer ‘their library catalogue’, except the respondents belonging to ‘UG in LIS’ qualification. Most of the respondents (44.4%) belonging to ‘UG in LIS’ qualification prefer ‘open access databases’ to seek needed information, followed by ‘their library catalogue’ (22.2%). The findings of such study would put light on the important data and insight into the current state of practices of LIS professionals and their understanding about information searching process on internet. The outcome and suggestions of the study would be beneficial for them to take appropriate measures to improve their information search strategy skills
