Charged anisotropic compact objects by gravitational decoupling

In the present article, we have constructed a static charged anisotropic compact star model of Einstein field equations for a spherically symmetric space-time geometry. Specifically, we have extended the charged isotropic Heintzmann solution to an anisotropic domain. To address this work, we have employed the gravitational decoupling through the so called minimal geometric deformation approach. The charged anisotropic model is representing the realistic compact objects such as RXJ185637RXJ1856-37 and SAXJ1808.43658(SS2)SAX J1808.4-3658(SS2). We have reported our results in details for the compact star RXJ185637RXJ1856-37 on the ground of physical properties such as pressure, density, velocity of sound, energy conditions, stability conditions, Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation and redshift etc

Selection of Ontologies for the Semantic Web

The development of the Semantic Web has encouraged the creation of ontologies in a great variety of domains. Web users currently looking for ontologies in order to incorporate them into their systems, just use their experience and intuition. This makes it difficult for them to justify their choices. Mainly, this is due to the lack of methods that help the user to measure that the most appropriate ontologies for the new system are. To solve this deficiency, this work proposes a method which allows the users to measure the suitability of the existent ontologies, regarding the requirements of their systems

Paracomplete logics which are dual to the paraconsistent logics L3A and L3B

In 2016 Beziau, introduce a more restricted concept of paraconsistency, namely the genuine paraconsistency. He calls genuine paraconsistent logic those logic rejecting φ, ¬φ |- ψ and |- ¬(φ ∧ ¬φ). In that paper the author analyzes, among the three-valued logics, which of these logics satisfy this property. If we consider multiple-conclusion consequence relations, the dual properties of those above mentioned are: |- φ, ¬φ, and ¬(ψ ∨ ¬ψ) |- . We call genuine paracomplete logics those rejecting the mentioned properties. We present here an analysis of the three-valued genuine paracomplete logics

Yammer: Investigating its Impact on Employee Knowledge Sharing during Product Development

    Get PDF
Global manufacturing continues to grow, creating the need for enhanced innovation during New Product Development (NPD); this in-turn requires increased utilization of employee-generated knowledge. Enterprise Social Networks (ESNs), such as Yammer.com, is one method identified which can allow organisations to connect employees across departments and physical boundaries. This paper summarises the results of a dual-moderated focus group conducted with 15 employees of a UK-based sports manufacturer, aimed at identifying the impact of Yammer on employee knowledge generation and sharing during NPD projects. Results indicate that employees see benefit in its use and would welcome greater embeddedness of ESNs in the NPD process. However, barriers are identified which may inhibit its successful deployment, including issues relating to security and intellectual property rights. Identified benefits of using Yammer include: an improved ability to find people with specific domain knowledge; increased awareness of communities of practice; and the matching of problems with solutions

Compact Anisotropic Models in General Relativity by Gravitational Decoupling

Durgapal's fifth isotropic solution describing spherically symmetric and static matter distribution is extended to an anisotropic scenario. To do so we employ the gravitational decoupling through the minimal geometric deformation scheme. This approach allows to split Einstein's field equations in two simply set of equations, one corresponding to the isotropic sector and other to the anisotropic sector described by an extra gravitational source. The isotropic sector is solved by the Dugarpal's model and the anisotropic sector is solved once a suitable election on the minimal geometric deformation is imposes. The obtained model is representing some strange stars candidates and fulfill all the requirements in order to be a well behaved physical solution to the Einstein's field equations

Knowledge Management and Collaboration Strategies for Technology-Based Firms in Baja California

    Get PDF
Knowledge Management (KM) and Collaboration are viewed as a key strategy for achieving competitive advantage in companies around the world. Knowledge by itself is considered one of the most valuable assets owned by an organization. In technology-based firms, it is perceived as being of the upmost value. In Baja California, Mexico, several companies exist which develop products and services using knowledge creation as a core value. In this paper, we summarize the results of 14 interviews with general managers and directors of knowledge-oriented firms to further understand which KM strategies are employed in seeking to gain competitive advantage. Results indicate that all firms adopt different approaches to KM. A common opinion amongst those interviewed was that knowledge provides greater value to businesses, improving corporate performance. All confirmed a significant relationship exists between KM, collaboration and competitive advantage

Assessing the Role of Knowledge and Project Management in the Competitiveness of Manufacturing Firms in Baja California

    Get PDF
This article analyses the Knowledge Management (KM) and Project Management (PM) practices of manufacturing firms based in Baja California to determine their level of importance in generating competitive advantage in the manufacturing sector in Baja California. Key questions researched in this paper are: 1) How is KM managed through information technologies and organisational systems, ensuring empirical and industrial success? and 2) How do PM strategies increase competitiveness in the Baja California manufacturing sector? The research analyses currently-implemented management systems used for improved KM and PM, based on knowledge and new advantage orientation. One of the limitations found in this research is that several firms do not adopt standardised policies relating to knowledge procurement and development. Although competitiveness is perceived as vital for organisations, the combination of KM and PM are not yet fully developed and integrated into organisational processes to increase competitiveness. It is found that KM and PM have influence and correlations with competitiveness

An Iterated Three-Phase Search Approach for Solving the Cyclic Bandwidth Problem

    Get PDF
The cyclic bandwidth problem (CBP) was initially introduced in the context of designing ring interconnection networks and has a number of other relevant applications, such as the design of computer networks and minimization of wire lengths in VLSI layout. However, the problem is computationally challenging since it belongs to the class of NP-hard problems. Existing studies on the CBP mainly focus on theoretical issues, and there are still very few practical methods devoted to this important problem. This paper fills the gap by introducing an iterated three-phase search approach for solving the CBP effectively. The proposed algorithm relies on three complementary search components to ensure a suitable balance of search intensification and diversification, guided by an enriched evaluation function. Computational assessments on a test-suite of 113 popular benchmark instances in the literature demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. In particular, it improves on 19 best-known computational results of the current best-performing algorithm for the problem and discovers 12 new record results (updated upper bounds). The key components of the proposed algorithm are investigated to shed light on their influences over the performance of the algorithm
