Listening Closely: Narrative Sensitivity and Thematic Apperception in Ben Lernerās The Topeka School
This article offers Ben Lernerās 2019 novel The Topeka School āas a case study to argue that even literary texts that are steeped in Theory or feature ādiagnosticā narrators (Dames) do not interpret themselves but require active readers to do so. By modeling the novelās narrative structure on the psychological Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), the narrator obliges the reader to listen to his stories as if she were a psychologist interpreting a patientās test results. I suggest that, for The Topeka Schoolā, adopting the same attitude of ānarrative sensitivityā that psychologists bring to the evaluation of the TAT proves a productive reading strategy (Cramer 28). Especially the idea of listening closely to the text yields profound insights into its form and politics due to its central interest in the nexus of voice and masculinity. Careful attention to narrative perspective, voice, and style reveals that the novel makes powerful political claims through its form alone. It figures male violence as a structural, not an individual problem and links it to the existence of a form of collective voice of white male US-America that can speak through a liberal-minded writer just as well as through a Trump-voter or even Donald Trump himself

The effects of the low cost carriers\u27 presence on airport performance: evidence from Croatia
Purpose ā Although Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) expansion coincided with the growth of tourism demand in Croatia (and worldwide), their arrival on Croatian airports has happened just recently. As data related to their impact on airport business performance is scarce, the following research is done for the purpose of filling up a small portion of this knowledge gap.
Design ā Besides the theoretical framework on the issue of the LCCs impacts on airports business performance, the paper also gives empirical insights into the matter on the Croatian international airports.
Methodology ā Information were collected by using both available secondary data as well as the results of a semi structured questionnaire filled in by the officials from the Croatian international airports, in the period from January to May 2014.
Findings ā The empirical research has showed that respondents had positive opinion on the LCCs presence and their overall impact on the airports business performance. Related to the findings some strategic directions for the policy makers have been given.
Originality ā This article is one of the very few dealing with the LCCs presence on Croatian airline market and definitely the only one discussing LCCs impacts on Croatian airport performance from the airportsā managers point of view
PRILOG O HRVATSKIM IMENIMA JEDRENJAKA IZGRAÄENIMA U DALMACIJI U SVJETLU HRVATSKOG NARODNOG PREPORODA
U radu se donose imena jedrenjaka izgraÄenih u Splitu, Trogiru te na otocima BraÄu i Hvaru, koji su plovili pod austrijskom, odnosno austro-ugarskom zastavom, zapravo hrvatska imena jedrenjaka, bez obzira na njihovo porijeklo ā hebrejsko, latinsko, talijansko... Radom se nastoji utvrditi je li i u kolikoj mjeri hrvatski narodni preporod u Dalmaciji utjecao na davanje jedrenjacima hrvatskih imena
2D animacija u pokretnoj grafici
Animacija je u svojoj srži umjetnost pokreta, te pokret u animaciji postaje moÄno sredstvo
prenoÅ”enja poruke. 2D animacija podrazumjeva oblikovanje pokretnih sliÄica u dvodimenzionalnom
prostoru. Pri tome, da bi ona uspjeŔno vizualno komunicirala, potrebno je poŔtivati
zakone pokreta iz prirode, te zakone pokreta u 2D animaciji koji su uspostavljeni kroz prve
animirane filmove, no i zakone konstrukcije prostora uspostavljene tokom stoljeÄa povijesti
umjetnosti. U animaciji je bitna i dimenzija vremena, koje se mjeri u sliÄicama u sekundi.
Prostor i vrijeme se ujedinjuju kompozicijom sekvence, pri Äemu se mogu koristiti forme
kontinuiteta, te forme diskontinuiteta. Na animaciju se postavljaju odreÄeni tehniÄki zahtjevi,
koji ponajviÅ”e ovise o njenoj namjeni: video, televizija, film, Internet ili CD-ROM. Ovi tehniÄki
zahtjevi mogu biti ograniÄavajuÄi, stoga je nekada potrebno raditi kompromise na raÄun oblikovanja,
efekata ili kvalitete sve sa svrhom da ju krajnji korisnik može nesmetano pregledavati.
Animacija namjenjena za multimediju ima posebne zahtjeve koji proizlaze iz njene
interaktivnosti. Da bi ona zadovoljila krajnjeg korisnika, potrebno je detaljno isplanirati svaki
korak izrade, uzeti u obzir sva ograniÄenja, te obaviti potrebna testiranja. Animacija ima\ud
svoj odreÄeni proces izrade koji se razlaže na pripremnu fazu, konceptualizaciju ideja, te na
samu izvedbu. Naposlijetku, svaki element animacije ima svoje roÄenje, život i smrt, a priÄa
svoj poÄetak i kraj, premda ne mora biti ispriÄana tim redoslijedom. Animacija omoguÄuje
manipulaciju prostorom i vremenom i u njoj nema ograniÄenja za maÅ”tu
