Some remarks on the semi-positivity theorems

We show that the dualizing sheaves of reduced simple normal crossings pairs have a canonical weight filtration in a compatible way with the one on the corresponding mixed Hodge modules by calculating the extension classes between the dualizing sheaves of smooth varieties. Using the weight spectral sequence of mixed Hodge modules, we then reduce the semi-positivity theorem for the higher direct images of dualizing sheaves to the smooth case where the assertion is well known. This may be used to simplify some constructions in a recent paper of Y. Kawamata. We also give a simple proof of the semi-positivity theorem for admissible variations of mixed Hodge structure in [FF] by using the theories of Cattani, Kaplan, Schmid, Steenbrink, and Zucker. This generalizes Kawamata's classical result in the pure case.Comment: 20 page

Self-study on Kyoto University's Academic Activities in ASEAN --Sustainable Fieldwork with Partners--

京都大学は自由の学風のもと、1960年代から現在まで東南アジアにてフィールドワークや対話に基づいた学術活動を牽引してきた。文部科学省の世界展開力強化事業等で、域内協定校との交流やダブルデイグリープログラムは発展したものの、補助金支援期間終了後の活動に必要なリソースの確保は課題である。本報告書では、学内外の資金や大学連合・産官学連携コンソーシアムを活用して、国際プログラムを存続・発展させている具体事例を紹介し考察する。次に、ASEAN拠点ネットワーク会議や全学海外拠点が両輪となり、複数部局が連携・情報共有して学内の国際化や共同研究を推進する例を紹介する。最後に、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大の影響を受けた国際活動やフィールド実習を補うデジタル補助教材の可能性について触れる。指定国立大学の高度化に関し、ASEAN拠点関係スタッフが複数部局のニーズを聞き取り試作したデジタル教材を基にした予算申請が正式に2020～2021年度分が認められるなど、本学は先駆的な活動を行っている。実際に現地を訪問した際の会得には及ばないものの、野外演習を模したVR映像やオンラインでの短期留学の体験は、試用した学生から学習意欲や関心が高まったとの感想が寄せられている。関係教員からは、ASEAN域との短期国際交流プログラムへのデジタル教材の導入や、この点での優れた支援人材の配置について期待の声が寄せられている。このように本学が強みとする「自学自習・フィールドワークに基づいた創造的な学問」の魅力を伝えるコンテンツづくりは、在学生の海外渡航への動機づけに加えて、本学に留学を検討している学生の獲得、更には協定校との友好関係の深化や本学のASEAN域での存在感維持にも資すると考える。海外渡航制限の緩和後、本学がASEAN現地での教育・研究活動を安全に再開することを期待している。これに備えて、従来の国際プログラムの好事例の再評価を行い、オンラインを含めたハイブリッド型プログラムの試行・実践・見直しを繰り返すことで、本学の特色ある取り組みに付加価値を与え、今後の国際戦略・指定国立法人の高度化を目指す一助としたい。0. Effects and tissue pathology of an unidentified microsporidium from the convergent lady beetle, Hippodamia convergens Guérin-Méneville (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), on three non-target coccinellids

(chiefly col.) ; 29 cm.Includes abstract and appendices.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 53-57).A microsporidium from H. convergens was transmitted horizontally to three non-target coccinellids (Adalia bipunctata L., Coccinella septempunctata L. and Harmonia axyridis Pallas) under laboratory conditions. The effects of microsporidiosis on larval development, larval mortality, sex ratio, fecundity and adult longevity were examined. For all beetle species, larval development was prolonged as a result of infection. Fecundity and longevity was adversely affected only for the natural host, H. convergens. Spore counts were similar for A. bipunctata and H. convergens but fewer spores were observed in C. septempunctata and H. axyridis. Vertical transmission of the pathogen was observed in all host species. Three eugregarines were found and described from two adult A. bipunctata. In H. convergens, the microsporidium infected muscles surrounding the midgut and within the fat body, Malpighian tubules, pyloric valve epithelium, colon epithelium, nerves, muscles, connective tissues, and ovaries. Form Factor of a Quantum Graph in a Weak Magnetic Field

Using periodic orbit theory, we evaluate the form factor of a quantum graph to which a very weak magnetic field is applied. Chaotic Transport in the Symmetry Crossover Regime with a Spin-orbit Interaction

We study a chaotic quantum transport in the presence of a weak spin-orbit interaction. Our theory covers the whole symmetry crossover regime between time-reversal invariant systems with and without a spin-orbit interaction. This situation is experimentally realizable when the spin-orbit interaction is controlled in a conductor by applying an electric field. We utilize a semiclassical approach which has recently been developed. In this approach, the non-Abelian nature of the spin diffusion along a classical trajectory plays a crucial role. New analytical expressions with one crossover parameter are semiclassically derived for the average conductance, conductance variance and shot noise. Moreover numerical results on a random matrix model describing the crossover from the GOE (Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble) to the GSE (Gaussian Symplectic Ensemble) are compared with the semiclassical expressions.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
