The research was conducted in December 2012 in Tanjung Balai AsahanCity of North Sumatera Province. This research aim was to know the density of A.granosa. The research used survey method. Collection of A. granosa wasconducted once, that is when ebb period. The sampling was based on the quadrantof 1x1 m² lied on the transect line. Each quadrant was divided into 25 subquadrants with each of 20x20 cm².The results showed that the high abundance was recorded at the middleintertidal zone of station I with the average of 48.3 ind/m². There was nodifference in the cockle density between the upper and middle zones. The t testshowed with the result of 0.603 > 0.05 meaning that there was no diffrencebetween the two zones

This research was conducted in December 2015 in the Batu Kalang Beach coastal area of the Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera Province, aimed to determine the distribution and abundance of bivalves in the intertidal zone. Bivalves samples were taken by using Quadrant Transect Sampling Method and sample was analyzed in Marine Biology Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Facultyand data was investigated descriptively. Based on the result, upper zone has the lowest abundance that is 4,00 ind/m2. At middle zone the abundance of bivalves was about 4,11 ind/m2, this abundance higher than upper zone. Bivalves abundance on lower zone has the highest abundance that is 4,89 ind/m². Bivalves abundance that founded during research on Batu Kalang Beach was variated, which as the highest bivalves was Periglypta reticulate, founded 15 species and the lowest abundance of bivalves founded three species that Hemidonax sp, Gafrarium divaricatum, Codakia tigerina

This research was conducted in December 2015 in the Belimbing Bay coastal area of the PesisirSelatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. The purpose of study was to determine the distribution andabundance of bivalves in the intertidal zone. Bivalves samples were taken by using Quadrant TransectSampling Method, in which at each station had one line transect, divided into three plots with a size of3x3 m2, respectively. The study found the abundance of the bivalves at station I (middle zone) washigher (0.15 ind/m2) than in the lower zone (0.07 ind/m2). In station II the lower zone was 0.07 ind/m2lower while the middle zone was 0.16 ind/m2. In station III the highest abundance was in the middlezone (0.15 ind/m2) and the lowest abundance was in the lower zone (0.08 ind/m2). The highest organicmatter content in the station I was 6.97% and the lowest was in the upper zone (4.85%). The lowestorganic matter at station II was lower zone (5.48%), followed by the upper zone (5.74%), and thehighest is in the middle zone (5.96%). At station III, the highest organic matter was 5.54% andfollowed by the lower zone 5.22%, the lowest contained is in the upper zone (5.12%)

This reseach was conducted in March to April 2012, in Padang Beach ofWest Sumatra and in Integrated Oceanology Lab of Riau University. The aim ofthis research is to reveal the progress of abration happening in Padang Beach. Themethod used in this research is the survey one. The result of this reasearch showsthat abration happened at three research stations, the abration velocity at the firststation is 0,28 m/year, the second is 0,36 m/year and at the third one is 0,12m/year. The principle causes of abration process in Padang beach are the flow andthe great wave of the sea which signed by each characteristic and the flow that thebeach abrased easily, as the bigger of wave's energy and water's flow the faster ofabration will be
