Relationship between Mathematics Diagnostic Test and Mathematics Final Assessment Among Pre-University Students Based on Gender

Diagnostic testing is considered as an important device that can be used by educators to identify students' strong and weak points in Mathematics subjects as it is often used as a preliminary evaluation of basic Mathematics skills of students. Educators must be able to detect the students' mathematical capacity earlier before delivering new content to them. This article purposes are to identify the achievement of pre-university students in Mathematics diagnostic test and Mathematics final assessment based on their gender, the differences between the gender of the students with their achievement in Mathematics diagnostic test, and the correlation between the students' Mathematics diagnostic test and their achievement in pre-university Mathematics final assessment. The findings demonstrated that students of both genders, who accomplished good results in their Mathematics diagnostic test, did similarly good in their final assessment. Also, students who carried out badly in their Mathematics diagnostic test did poorly in their final assessment. From this diagnostic result, it facilitates the educator to provide the students with the best teaching method and material required

PENYALAHGUNAAN BAHAN DI KALANGAN REMAJA: SATU KAJIAN DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH SARAWAK

Menurut United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime (2007), penglibatan remaja dalam penyalahgunaan bahan secara global, semakin meningkat. Artikel ini memaparkan dapatan penyelidikan yang bertujuan untuk mengkaji peranan gaya keibubapaan, identiti etnik, sosio-demografi keluarga/diri dan faktor sekolah dalam penyalahgunaan bahan di kalangan remaja tingkatan 1, 2, dan 4 di Sarawak. Kajian ini berbentuk survei keratan rentas yang melibatkan penggunaan soal selidik untuk mengumpul data yang dikehendaki. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 6798 pelajar Tingkatan 1, 2 dan 4 dari 34 buah sekolah menengah di 11 bahagian di Sarawak. Pelajar melaporkan kadar penyalahgunaan arak dan rokok yang membimbangkan dengan satu perempat pelajar menyatakan segelintir kawan rapat mereka terlibat dalam aktiviti ini. Lazimnya, pelajar lelaki, pelajar Bumiputera dan pelajar sekolah luar bandar mempunyai persepsi bahawa lebih ramai rakan rapat mereka terlibat dalam aktiviti penyalahgunaan bahan tersebut

Mathematics Practice Sem 1

Mathematics Practice Semester 1 is specially written for foudation students level taking Mathematics at Centre for Pre-University, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak or local matriculation centres. The objective of this book is to provide a comprehensive discourse of the basic concepts and foundation in Mathematics. This book contains ten chapters. Each chapter starts with a page of notes and formulae for easy reference. In each chapter, the concepts are explained clearly with real practice questions. Question and answer for each chapter provide a wide range of examination type question based on the concepts and theories learnt. Answers are also provided for all questions on each chapter. To optimize the effectiveness of this books, students are advised not to simply read the notes and formulae but instead to work out the solution and method on the space provided below the questions. All mathematical concepts are presented clearly in simple English for easy understanding. Practical questions have been incorporated to the chapters to enhance better understanding of the concepts. The book is also suitable for first year undergraduate Mathematics course for a degree or diploma programme

Scienceploration 2023

The Scienceploration Camp is an initiative of the Centre for Pre-University Studies, UNIMAS (PPPU), which aims to increase the interest in science among secondary school students. It is also an effort taken by PPPU towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 4 in providing equal quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. On top of that, this camp supports Sarawak’s Digital Economy Strategy in nurturing an integrated ecosystem to foster inclusive digital society, by building the right foundations to grow our local digital economy
