Development in the field of IT and competition in the market forces companies to increase their market share and revenue. To satisfy this goal, companies can apply and adopt plans that may lead to making the supply chain (SC) lengthy and too rigid to control/monitor. The longer the SC the more it can be disrupted by expected and unexpected events (e.g., Digital security incidents, climate). For that purpose, the SC must be built in a way to respond fast to disruptive events in an effective way and to bounce back to its original state to be considered a resilient SC, which gives a competitive advantage to the companies. To achieve SC resilience, several studies have discussed enablers. Some of these studies, focused on increasing velocity through the SC, others argued that high adaptability leads to SC resilience, and others mentioned information sharing as a key to achieving SC resilience. In addition, applying technology in the SC processes can add strength. As such, the Internet of Things can support/enhance the level of Velocity, Adaptability, and Information sharing, which leads to enhancing SC resilience. This research explores the opportunities that IoT presents to enhance resilience enablers and boost SC resilience

In the past few decades, competition has increased between organizations as a result of globalization and fast development in IT. Companies these days are continuously looking to expand their market geographically to attract new customers. With that in mind, the main concern of companies is to achieve their customers’ requirements, which makes the supply chain (SC) longer and more complex. This leads to increased difficulty in managing the SC along with controlling risks and disruptions in SC. Such as loss of a critical supplier, a fire accident in the production facility, or an act of terrorism. To deal with these risks, SC must be designed to provide an efficient and effective response, keep its process working and be capable of recovering to their original state after disruptive events, this is considered as the core of supply chain resilience (SCRes). Furthermore, companies that design their SC with capabilities to react quickly to any disruptions in its process have the opportunity to become more stabilized and acquire an improved position in the market. Researchers have been exploring ways to acquire supply chain resilience, such as encouraging and improving collaboration between SC partners or by increasing the organization’s visibility through monitoring SC events and patterns. Studies have shown that IT has a role in improving SCRes, such as information-sharing systems to promote collaboration and visibility tactics. However, recent research trends are exploring new and emerging technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT). Despite the growing interest in IoT, minimal research has been carried out for its application in SCRes. Research in this direction is necessary to explore opportunities provided by IoT to redesign SC which in turn reinforces flexibility of supply chains and aspects of analysis of the product quality and how it could enable companies to improve their SCRes. This study is directly focused to identify and highlight this gap.N/

The world is moving fast, and organizations are facing new risks, uncertainties, and threats within their supply chains. Food security, waste minimization, and sustainability are new strategic requirements agri-organizations must address and focus on. Nevertheless, due to globalization and changes in the market post-COVID-19, supply chains are becoming more complex and agri-organizations must change their business processes and operations to become more competitive, responsive, and agile. To be more customer-oriented, efficient, and sustainable, agri-organizations have been adopting new innovative technologies such as RFID and the Internet of Things. Recently, the concept of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) has drawn significant attention from specialists, academics, and decision-makers. I4.0 technologies can enhance supply chain performance by bringing new cost-effective, green lean features and solutions that can improve internal and external event traceability, process automation, waste management, data sharing, and KPI monitoring. However, there are many challenges to the adoption of I4.0 technologies. Therefore, it is very important to study these challenges facing the agri-supply chain. The main aim of this research is to analyze the literature through a systematic approach to highlight and identify the challenges agri-supply chains are facing while deciding on implementing I4.0 technologies. Using a set of 64 publications, including journal papers, conference papers, reviews, and books chapters, selected from the well-known database Scopus for the last 7 years, a systematic literature review was conducted. The SLR highlights and considers several I4.0 technologies and their applications affecting the agri-supply chain. The results of this study are based on a thorough analysis of the added-value outcomes of implementing different I4.0 technologies in the agri-food supply chain. Over a dozen challenges are remarked upon in the literature. These challenges are categorized into three main areas in the agri-food supply chain: infrastructural, technical and operational. The most critical challenges detected—within most observations—are technological architecture, security and privacy, and internet- and IoT-based infrastructure

    No full text
This paper attempts to investigate that the province of Central Punjab carries the country’s major part of the population, which mother tongue is Punjabi. A majority of this population serves at different prominent public and private positions in Pakistan. Despite such a strong position of Punjabi speakers, their language is in a rapid state of Diaspora, even from its native land and by its own speakers. Among the other many reasons, the present Punjabi theatre has become a dominant cause of language exile from the urban life of Punjab. After the unrestricted spread of cable network in Pakistan, the so-called Punjabi theatre has reached in every house of the province. This type of drama or theatre causes a banishment of Punjabi language by its very speakers. The participants for the present study are 100 educated people belonging to different walks of life. They have witnessed the distortion of Punjabi language by Punjabi theatre. To gauge the diasporification of Punjabi language, a questionnaire has been devised in connection with language likening and disliking, causes, and effects in the day to day life of urban Punjabi speakers. The gathered data shows that Punjabi people are averting from their mother tongue and pretend themselves as Urdu speakers. They are also breeding a kind of hatred against the Punjabi language that ultimately becomes the root cause of Diaspora of Punjabi language. The findings authenticate that the situation is worrisome in central Punjab

    No full text
Studying the influence of religiosity and knowledge of the COVID-19 vaccination is important for boosting countrywide vaccine acceptance in countries such as Pakistan. This study used partial least squares structural equation modeling to determine whether these factors predicted the intention to get the vaccine and whether knowledge about COVID-19 vaccines moderated the influence of religiosity on the intention to get vaccinated. Participants were 251 college students from Pakistan, recruited using convenience sampling, who completed a paper-based survey. Results of structural equation modeling showed that religiosity was negatively related to COVID-19 vaccine acceptance, knowledge about the vaccine was positively related to COVID-19 vaccine acceptance, and knowledge about the vaccine positively moderated the negative impact of religiosity on intention to get vaccinated. These findings suggest that challenging religious norms and increasing public awareness are crucial for COVID-19 vaccine adoption
