Information-Disturbance Theorem for Mutually Unbiased Observables
We derive a novel version of information-disturbance theorems for mutually
unbiased observables. We show that the information gain by Eve inevitably makes
the outcomes by Bob in the conjugate basis not only erroneous but random
Slow decay of dynamical correlation functions for nonequilibrium quantum states
A property of dynamical correlation functions for nonequilibrium states is
discussed. We consider arbitrary dimensional quantum spin systems with local
interaction and translationally invariant states with nonvanishing current over
them. A correlation function between local charge and local Hamiltonian at
different spacetime points is shown to exhibit slow decay.Comment: typos correcte
Steady-State Analysis of Load Balancing with Coxian- Distributed Service Times
This paper studies load balancing for many-server ( servers) systems. Each
server has a buffer of size and can have at most one job in service and
jobs in the buffer. The service time of a job follows the Coxian-2
distribution. We focus on steady-state performance of load balancing policies
in the heavy traffic regime such that the normalized load of system is for We identify a set of policies that
achieve asymptotic zero waiting. The set of policies include several classical
policies such as join-the-shortest-queue (JSQ), join-the-idle-queue (JIQ),
idle-one-first (I1F) and power-of--choices (Po) with . The proof of the main result is based on Stein's method and state space
collapse. A key technical contribution of this paper is the iterative state
space collapse approach that leads to a simple generator approximation when
applying Stein's method

Two charged strangeonium-like structures observable in the process
Via the Initial Single Pion Emission (ISPE) mechanism, we study the
invariant mass spectrum distribution of . Our calculation indicates there exist a sharp peak
structure () close to the threshold and a broad
structure () near the threshold. In addition, we
also investigate the process due to
the ISPE mechanism, where a sharp peak around the threshold
appears in the invariant mass spectrum distribution. We
suggest to carry out the search for these charged strangeonium-like structures
in future experiment, especially Belle II, Super-B and BESIII.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures. Accepted by Eur. Phys. J.
Radio tomographic imaging of sporadic-E layers during SEEK-2
During the SEEK-2 Rocket Campaign in August 2002, a Dual Band Beacon (DBB) transmitting to Ground Receivers provided unique data on E-Region electron densities. Information from two rocket beacons and four ground receivers yielded multiple samples of E-region horizontal and vertical variations. The radio beacon measurements were made at four sites (Uchinoura, Tarumizu, Tanegashima, Takazaki) in Japan for two rockets (S310-31 and S310-32) launched by the Institute of Space and Aeronautical Science (ISAS). Analysis was completed for four sets of beacon data to provide electron density images of sporadic-E layers. Signals from the two-frequency beacons on the SEEK-2 rockets were processed to yield total electron content (TEC) data that was converted into electron density measurements. Wide variations in layer structures were detected. These included horizontal sporadic-E variations, vertical profiles of double, single, and weak layers. The radio beacon measurements were shown to be in agreement with the in-situ SEEK-2 sensors. The first tomographic image of a sporadic-E layer was produced from the data. The rocket beacon technique was shown to be an excellent tool to study sporadic-E layers because absolute TEC accuracy of 0.01 TEC Units can be easily obtained and, with proper receiver placement, electron density images can be produced using computerized ionospheric tomography with better than 1km horizontal and vertical resolution
Aspects of U-duality in BLG models with Lorentzian metric 3-algebras
In our previous paper, it was shown that BLG model based on a Lorentzian
metric 3-algebra gives Dp-brane action whose worldvolume is compactified on
torus T^d (d=p-2). Here the 3-algebra was a generalized one with d+1 pairs of
Lorentzian metric generators and expressed in terms of a loop algebra with
central extensions. In this paper, we derive the precise relation between the
coupling constant of the super Yang-Mills, the moduli of T^d and some R-R flux
with VEV's of ghost fields associated with Lorentzian metric generators. In
particular, for d=1, we derive the Yang-Mills action with theta term and show
that SL(2,Z) Montonen-Olive duality is realized as the rotation of two VEV's.
Furthermore, some moduli parameters such as NS-NS 2-form flux are identified as
the deformation parameters of the 3-algebras. By combining them, we recover
most of the moduli parameters which are required by U-duality symmetry.Comment: 27 pages, v2: minor correction
Integrable discretizations of derivative nonlinear Schroedinger equations
We propose integrable discretizations of derivative nonlinear Schroedinger
(DNLS) equations such as the Kaup-Newell equation, the Chen-Lee-Liu equation
and the Gerdjikov-Ivanov equation by constructing Lax pairs. The discrete DNLS
systems admit the reduction of complex conjugation between two dependent
variables and possess bi-Hamiltonian structure. Through transformations of
variables and reductions, we obtain novel integrable discretizations of the
nonlinear Schroedinger (NLS), modified KdV (mKdV), mixed NLS, matrix NLS,
matrix KdV, matrix mKdV, coupled NLS, coupled Hirota, coupled Sasa-Satsuma and
Burgers equations. We also discuss integrable discretizations of the
sine-Gordon equation, the massive Thirring model and their generalizations.Comment: 24 pages, LaTeX2e (IOP style), final versio
