Numerical calculation of tensile test using a dumbbell-shaped in thickness direction specimen

    Get PDF
This study is the product of a tensile test of a uniaxial tensile specimen having a thinner test section than parallel section, which is a tensile test piece with a dumbbell shape in the thickness direction, fabricated by means of cutting as a preliminary experiment and an evaluation of the mechanical properties of the tensile specimen. In the tensile test, we compared the tensile properties of the dumbbell-shaped in thickness direction tensile specimen with those of conventional tensile specimens. In addition, we analyzed the states of stress and strain in the tensile specimens during a tensile test by using the finite element method

AKARI Infrared Camera Survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud. I. Point Source Catalog

We present a near- to mid-infrared point source catalog of 5 photometric bands at 3.2, 7, 11, 15 and 24 um for a 10 deg2 area of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) obtained with the Infrared Camera (IRC) onboard the AKARI satellite. To cover the survey area the observations were carried out at 3 separate seasons from 2006 May to June, 2006 October to December, and 2007 March to July. The 10-sigma limiting magnitudes of the present survey are 17.9, 13.8, 12.4, 9.9, and 8.6 mag at 3.2, 7, 11, 15 and 24 um, respectively. The photometric accuracy is estimated to be about 0.1 mag at 3.2 um and 0.06--0.07 mag in the other bands. The position accuracy is 0.3" at 3.2, 7 and 11um and 1.0" at 15 and 24 um. The sensitivities at 3.2, 7, and 24 um are roughly comparable to those of the Spitzer SAGE LMC point source catalog, while the AKARI catalog provides the data at 11 and 15 um, covering the mid-infrared spectral range contiguously. Two types of catalog are provided: a Catalog and an Archive. The Archive contains all the detected sources, while the Catalog only includes the sources that have a counterpart in the Spitzer SAGE point source catalog. The Archive contains about 650,000, 140,000, 97,000, 43,000, and 52,000 sources at 3.2, 7, 11, 15, and 24 um, respectively. Based on the catalog, we discuss the luminosity functions at each band, the color-color diagram, and the color-magnitude diagram using the 3.2, 7, and 11 um band data. Stars without circumstellar envelopes, dusty C-rich and O-rich stars, young stellar objects, and background galaxies are located at distinct regions in the diagrams, suggesting that the present catalog is useful for the classification of objects towards the LMC.Comment: 59 pages, 12 figures, accepted for the Astronomical Journa

The ASTRO-F Mission : Large Area Infrared Survey

ASTRO-F is the first Japanese satellite mission dedicated for large area surveys in the infrared. The 69cm aperture telescope and scientific instruments are cooled to 6K by liquid Helium and mechanical coolers. During the expected mission life of more than 500 days, ASTRO-F will make the most advanced all-sky survey in the mid- to far-infrared since the Infrared astronomical Satellite (IRAS). The survey will be made in 6 wavebands and will include the first all sky survey at >100-160(mu)m. Deep imaging and spectroscopic surveys with pointed observations will also be carried out in 13 wavelength bands from 2-160(mu)m. ASTRO-F should detect more than a half million galaxies tracing the large-scale structure of the Universe out to redshifts of unity, detecting rare, exotic extraordinarily luminous objects at high redshift, numerous brown dwarfs, Vega-like stars, protostars, and will reveal the large-scale structure of nearby galactic star forming regions. ASTRO-F is a perfect complement to Spitzer Space Telescope in respect of its wide sky and wavelength coverage. Approximately 30 percent of pointed observations will be allocated to an open-time opportunity. Updated pre-flight ensitivities as well as the observation plan including the large-area surveys are described.Comment: accepted for publication in Advances in Space Research, 15 pages, 7 Postscript figures, uses elsart.cl

Electronic Structure and Electron Correlation in LaFeAsO_{1-x}F_x and LaFePO_{1-x}F_x

Photoemission spectroscopy is used to investigate the electronic structure of the newly discovered iron-based superconductors LaFeAsO_{1-x}F_x and LaFePO_{1-x}F_x. Line shapes of the Fe 2p core-level spectra suggest an itinerant character of Fe 3d electrons. The valence-band spectra are generally consistent with band-structure calculations except for the shifts of Fe 3d-derived peaks toward the Fermi level. From spectra taken in the Fe 3p -> 3d core-absorption region, we have obtained the experimental Fe 3d partial density of states, and explained it in terms of a band-structure calculation with a phenomenological self-energy correction, yielding a mass renormalization factor of ~< 2.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

We have studied fundamental theories of social networks, and suveyed social networks on regional societies.1.Study in fundamental theories of social networks. Social network theories in a wide area of social science were reviewed. And a vision of \u27network sociology\u27 was presented. Here, systematic typology of social network analysis was constructed by combining a typology of network units (personal, community, organization, and national) and a typology of spreads of networks (personal, community, organization, national, and global). (chapter.1 by Usui.)2.Suveys of social networks on regional societies. We made three suveys of social networks, of which units were \u27personal\u27 , and of which spreads were \u27personal--national, and global\u27. those suveys were (1) \u27Wajima City Suvey\u27 (Sep.1996), (2) \u27Kanazawa-Suzu-Neagari Suvey\u27 (Nov.1995), and (3) A suvey of databases of scientific articles. The relationships between \u27participation in festival\u27 and \u27neighboring\u27 (chapter.2 by Mizobe and Yamaguchi), and relationships between \u27educational a spiration\u27 and \u27kinship\u27 (chapter.3 by Yamaguchi and Mizobe) were shown by Wajima City Suvey. The relationships between \u27the qualities and the quantities of personal networks\u27 and \u27social attributes\u27 were shown by Kanazawa-Suzu-Neagari Suvey (chapter.4 by Manabe and Hashimoto). Then, databases of scientific articles play the role of \u27nodes\u27 in the national or global networks of scientists. From this perspective, various databases of sociological articles were introduced (chapter.5 by Iwamoto).
