    A Case of Retroperitoneal Malignant Mesenchymoma

    A rare case of malignant mesenchymoma of a retroperitoneal lesion, com-posed of liposarcoma and osteosarcoma, is reported. For complete resection of the tumor, two surgical operations were performed. The first operative material showed a mass measuring 20 x 20 x 10 cm, weighing 1607g, arising from the soft tissue of the left retroperitoneum and the tumor had a smooth surface and elastic-hard consistency. The secondary operative materials exhi-bited a mass measuring 10 x 5 x 3 cm, weighing 268g. The tumor was com-posed of soft gelatinous tissues and adhered to the tail of the pancreas but was separate from the spleen. More than 3 years after the secondary operation, no recurrence has been observed. Immunohistochemical examinations showed that S-100 protein and non-specific enolase were present in the liposarcoma-tous area and that vimentin was positive in the osteosarcomatous area

    Research activity at the Department of Nursing is overviewed from the point of research topics, the theme of the projects admitted for grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of Japan, and expected research topics, trying to clarify the needs and challenges of the Department from multilateral aspects in future research activities. The Department of Nursing, Aino University is currently divided into the five areas and further into 12 fields. On the other hand, according to the Scientific Research Grant Program (2015 fiscal year), the research topics in nursing science is subdivided into the five areas; a) basic nursing, b) clinical nursing, c) lifelong developmental nursing, d) elderly nursing, and e) community health nursing

    Universal diagnostic criteria for chronic endometritis (CE) have not been established due to differences in study design among researchers and a lack of typical clinical cases. Lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) have been reported to cause inflammation in the reproductive systems of several animals. This study aimed to elucidate the influence of LPS in the pathogenesis of CE in humans. We investigated whether LPS affected cytokine production and cell proliferation in the endometrium using in vivo and in vitro experiments. LPS concentrations were analyzed between control and CE patients using endometrial tissues. LPS administration stimulated the proliferation of EM-E6/E7 cells derived from human endometrial cells. High LPS concentrations were detected in CE patients. LPS concentration was found to correlate with IL-6 gene expression in the endometrium. Inflammation signaling evoked by LPS led to the onset of CE, since LPS stimulates inflammatory responses and cell cycles in the endometrium. We identified LPS and IL-6 as suitable candidate markers for the diagnosis of CE
