    Laparoscopic resection of two peritoneal loose bodies on the rectosigmoid colon

    Laparoscopic examination of a 77-year-old woman revealed two peritoneal loose bodies connected to fatty appendices on the rectosigmoid colon and resected at the stalks. The peritoneal loose bodies were found to be fat-containing masses on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging, and postoperative pathological examination revealed fat degeneration tissue with or without fibrous outer layers

    Here we present postoperative pathology of an 82-year-old woman who presented with massive ascites, and an implant-like adenocarcinoma on her intrapelvic peritoneum, which revealed a minimal (<5mm) serous adenocarcinoma on her left ovary and an intraepithelial carcinoma on inner surface of her right Fallopian tube.  The left ovarian serous adenocarcinoma may have originated as an intraepithelial carcinoma on contralateral Fallopian tube

    Standard therapy for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) has not been established. We are conducting a multicenter, prospective trial to determine the efficacy and safety of short-term, high-dose dexamethasone therapy in ITP patients aged 18-80 years with platelet counts of <20, 000 /μL, or with <50, 000/ μL and bleeding symptoms. The primary endpoints of this trial are the proportion of responses (complete plus partial response) on day 180 (day 46+180) after the completion of the 46-day high-dose dexamethasone therapy. The results of this investigation of the effectiveness and safety of this regimen will be essential for the establishment of standard therapy for ITP

    Mononuclear Ru complexes catalyze dioxygen formation via water splitting; therefore, a detailed investigation into their water-oxidation process is necessary. In this study, we synthesized a series of Ru(III) complexes containing a dianionic tridentate ligand with three pyridine groups (one coordinated to Ru while the other two are “free”) and investigated their substitution reactions in a water/acetonitrile mixture. Among the monodentate pyridyl ligands, the one at the equatorial position was crystallographically proven to be selectively substituted. Therefore, our results experimentally demonstrate the proposed coordination geometry for an intermediate during water oxidation over Ru complexes
