Ethyl 4-hydroxy-2,6-diphenyl-1-(2-thiomorpholinopropanoyl)-1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxylate
In the title compound, C27H32N2O4S, the thiomorpholine ring adopts a chair conformation and the tetrahydropyridine ring is in a distorted envelope conformation. The molecular structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O—H⋯O interaction and the crystal packing is stabilized by an intermolecular C—H⋯O interaction, generating an S(6) motif and a dimer of the type R

Effects of moxibustion for constipation treatment: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials
Several studies reported that moxibustion was effective in treating constipation. This systematic review assesses the clinical evidence for or against moxibustion for treating constipation. Twelve databases were searched from their inception to March 2010. Only randomized clinical trials (RCTs) were included if they compared moxibustion with placebo, sham treatment, drug therapy or no treatment. The methodological quality of these RCTs was assessed with the Cochrane risk of bias analysis. All three RCTs included in the study had a high risk of bias. Two included studies found favorable effects of moxibustion. The third RCT showed significant effects in the moxibustion group. Given that the methodological quality of all RCTs was poor, the results from the present review are insufficient to suggest that moxibustion is an effective treatment for constipation. More rigorous studies are warranted
Suppression of magnetic ordering in XXZ-type antiferromagnetic monolayer NiPS3
How a certain ground state of complex physical systems emerges, especially in
two-dimensional materials, is a fundamental question in condensed-matter
physics. A particularly interesting case is systems belonging to the class of
XY Hamiltonian where the magnetic order parameter of conventional nature is
unstable in two-dimensional materials leading to a
Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. Here, we report how the XXZ-type
antiferromagnetic order of a magnetic van der Waals material, NiPS3, behaves
upon reducing the thickness and ultimately becomes unstable in the monolayer
limit. Our experimental data are consistent with the findings based on
renormalization group theory that at low temperatures a two-dimensional XXZ
system behaves like a two-dimensional XY one, which cannot have a long-range
order at finite temperatures. This work provides experimental examination of
the XY magnetism in the atomically thin limit and opens new opportunities of
exploiting these fundamental theorems of magnetism using magnetic van der Waals
materials.Comment: 57 pages, 24 figures (including Supplementary Information
Nanoscale reaction vessels: Highly ordered nanocrystal arrays inside porous anodic alumina nanowells
Using an anodic alumina template as a nanoscale reaction vessel, the authors developed a simple and unique method to prepare highly ordered arrays of nanocrystals in isolated nanowells. The highly ordered arrays of nanoscale wells were fabricated by short anodization. After the nanoscale wells were filled with a precursor solution of NaCl by dewetting, the solvent of the precursor solution was evaporated, resulting in spontaneous formation of uniformly sized NaCl nanocrystals inside the nanoscale wells. The size of crystals could be easily adjusted by varying the concentration of the precursor solution and the size of nanoscale wells. This approach is simple and cost-effective, and it can fabricate nanocrystal arrays on substrates with high throughput. It can also be readily adapted to synthesize other types of high-density nanocrystal arrays on different substrates. © 2015 The Authorsopen0
A Novel Pinkish-White Flower Color Variant Is Caused by a New Allele of Flower Color Gene W1 in Wild Soybean (Glycine soja)
The enzyme flavonoid 3',5'-hydroxylase (F3'5'H) plays an important role in producing anthocyanin pigments in soybean. Loss of function of the W1 locus encoding F3'5'H always produces white flowers. However, few color variations have been reported in wild soybean. In the present study, we isolated a new color variant of wild soybean accession (IT261811) with pinkish-white flowers. We found that the flower's pinkish-white color is caused by w1-s3, a single recessive allele of W1. The SNP detected in the mutant caused amino acid substitution (A(304)S) in a highly conserved SRS4 domain of F3'5'H proteins. On the basis of the results of the protein variation effect analyzer (PROVEAN) tool, we suggest that this mutation may lead to hypofunctional F3'5'H activity rather than non-functional activity, which thereby results in its pinkish-white color
Solitary Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Apex of Arytenoid: Endoscopic, CT, and Pathologic Findings
Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is a rare plasma cell neoplasm that occurs mainly in the soft tissues of head and neck region, with the paranasal sinuses, nasal cavity and nasopharynx being the most common sites. Solitary EMP of the larynx is very rare but increasingly reported recently. Common sites of involvement in larynx in the order of frequency are the epiglottis, ventricles, vocal folds and ventricular folds. We report an extremely rare case of solitary EMP involving in the apex of arytenoids that was successfully treated by only surgical excision. Because solitary EMP of the apex of artytenoids is extremely rare, it should be included in the differential diagnosis for laryngeal mass. Also, solitary, small, pedunculated and localized EMP of the larynx could be completely removed by laryngeal microsurgery
High-resolution near-IR Spectral mapping with H and [Fe II] lines of Multiple Outflows around LkH 234
We present a high-resolution, near-IR spectroscopic study of multiple
outflows in the LkH 234 star formation region using the Immersion
GRating INfrared Spectrometer (IGRINS). Spectral mapping over the blueshifted
emission of HH 167 allowed us to distinguish at least three separate, spatially
overlapped, outflows in H and [Fe II] emission. We show that the H
emission represents not a single jet, but complex multiple outflows driven by
three known embedded sources: MM1, VLA 2, and VLA 3. There is a redshifted
H outflow at a low velocity, \VLSR 50 {\kms}, with respect to
the systemic velocity of \VLSR 11.5 {\kms}, that coincides with the
HO masers seen in earlier radio observations two arcseconds southwest of
VLA 2. We found that the previously detected [Fe II] jet with \VLSR
100 {\kms} driven by VLA 3B is also detected in H emission, and confirm
that this jet has a position angle about 240. Spectra of the
redshifted knots at 14\arcsec65\arcsec northeast of LkH 234 are
presented for the first time. These spectra also provide clues to the existence
of multiple outflows. We detected high-velocity (50120 {\kms}) H gas
in the multiple outflows around LkH 234. Since these gases move at
speeds well over the dissociation velocity ( 40 {\kms}), the emission must
originate from the jet itself rather than H gas in the ambient medium.
Also, position-velocity diagrams and excitation diagram indicate that emission
from knot C in HH 167 come from two different phenomena, shocks and
photodissociation.Comment: 32 pages, 12 figures, 2 tables, Accepted for publication in the

Physiological responses of two halophytic grass species under drought stress environment
The physiological responses of two halophytic grass species, Halopyrum mucronatum (L.) Staph. and Cenchrus ciliaris (L.), under drought stress were evaluated. Biomass accumulation, relative water content, free proline, H2O2 content, stomatal conductance, photosynthetic performance and quantum yield (Fv/Fm ratio) were studied. Under drought conditions, these halophytic plants expressed differential responses to water defi cit. Stomatal conductance and free proline content were higher in H. mucronatum than in C. ciliaris, while H2O2 content in H. mucronatum was substantially lower than in C. ciliaris. Performance index showed considerable sensitivity to a water deficit condition, more so in C. ciliaris than in H. mucronatum. Results were discussed in relation to comparative physiological performance and antioxidant enzymes activity of both halophytic grasses under drought stress
