Job Analysis and HRM Strategic Decisions: Administrators’ Ethics as Moderating Variable

    Get PDF
Job analysis has been identified as a critical issue in human resource management (HRM); little research has focused on the relationship of work-related ethics between JA (JA) and HRM strategic decisions. This study aims to determine the effect of JA on human resource management strategic decisions at Jordanian institutions of higher education. We also examine how the impact of JA varies depending on how prevalent administrators work-related ethics are in each institution. The studys sample includes (420) individuals who work in supervisory academic and administrative roles at four universities. We test our proposed model in both public and private universities in Jordans northern region, using structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the data. According to the findings, JA positively impacts HRM strategic decisions. On the other hand, administrators work-related ethics considerably moderate the influence of JA. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed

This study aimed to identify the impact of job security elements on the work alienation at private universities in Jordan. A questionnaire has been developed to identify the collection of data from a sample study consisted of 209 employees in the private universities. Results showed that there is a significant impact of job security elements as a whole on the feeling of work alienation. In addition this study showed that there is no impact of demographic variables on the feeling of work alienation. At the end researchers recommended that private university is recommended to update policies and procedures continuously to enhance job security and decrease the feeling of work alienation. Key Words: job security, work alienation, private university, isolation, self estrangement, meaninglessness, powerlessness

MCS package and entrepreneurial competency influence on business performance: the moderating role of business strategy

    Get PDF
Purpose – This paper draws on resource-based theory (RBV) to examine the impact of the management control system (MCS) package on business performance through the mediating role of entrepreneurial competencies and the interaction role of business strategy in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Design/methodology/approach – A total of 372 questionnaires were used in this research for analysis purposes using partial least square–structural equation modelling. Cluster sampling was used and nine states out of 16 states were selected randomly, including Kelantan, Johor, Sarawak, Selangor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak and Sabah, because the nine states cover 84.4% of the total SMEs. Findings – The results revealed that only cultural and administrative control has no relationship with business performance. Moreover, in the MCS package, all elements have a significant and positive influence on entrepreneurial competencies. Furthermore, business strategy (cost leadership and differentiation strategy) significantly moderates, while entrepreneurial competencies mediate between, cultural, planning, cybernetic, rewards and compensation, administrative control and business performance. Originality/value – SMEs in Malaysia are contributing 36.6% to gross domestic product. Further, as this sector is important, less attention has been paid to this area of MCS package with business strategies to determine organisational performance. This study fills these gaps, and the recommendations and findings for further research are discussed in detail accordingly. Moreover, the findings of the current research provide guidelines for the management of SMEs.

AI different approaches and ANFIS data mining: A novel approach to predicting early employment readiness in middle eastern nations

    Get PDF
The use of data mining to predict early employment readiness of students is gaining importance due to the expansion of data production in various industries. This study aims to address the employability issue in Middle Eastern nations by utilizing an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) data mining technology. The experimental investigation used data from tracer studies conducted by three Jordanian universities, consisting of 22 parameters. Results showed that despite achieving an accuracy of 94% for the graduate dataset, ANFIS exhibited high complexity due to the large number of attributes used. The study has implications for selecting relevant variables and investigating multiple aspects. Data mining has various applications, including classification, clustering, regression, association rule development, and outlier analysis. As data production continues to expand, this study provides insights into the potential use of ANFIS in predicting early employment readiness of students in Middle Eastern nations

The impact of ethical leadership on organizational citizenship behavior in higher education: the contingent role of organizational justice

    No full text
AbstractThe study examined the relationship between ethical leadership and organizational citizenship, with organizational justice as a moderator. In addition, we investigate how the impact of ethical leadership varies based on the extent to which organizational justice is the prevalent norm within an institution. We examine our proposed model in higher education institutions in northern Jordan and analyze the data using structural equation modeling. The data was gathered from 254 academic staff members employed by private universities. The data set revealed that ethical leadership significantly impacted organizational citizenship behavior in higher education institutions. However, as a moderating variable, organizational justice does not moderate the association between ethical leadership and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in Jordanian higher education institutions. Through the moderating role of organizational justice, the authors investigate the effect of ethical leadership on organizational citizenship behavior. This study’s findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing evidence from a non-western country, such as Jordan. Based on the findings, the study’s theoretical and practical implications, as well as its limitations and recommendations for future research, are discussed

Mathematical Modelling for Predicting Thermal Properties of Selected Limestone

    No full text
Due to a lack of geotechnical and geothermal studies on Jordanian limestone, this paper aims to provide the thermal properties, including thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat, using the Hot Disk Transient Plane Source (TPS) 2200 method. It also aims to provide a set of mathematical models through which the thermal properties can be indirectly predicted from the rocks’ physical and engineering properties. One hundred cylindrical rock specimens with a height of 20 cm and a diameter of 10 cm were extracted and prepared. The results showed that the thermal conductivity values ranged between (1.931–3.468) (W/(m × k)), thermal diffusivity (1.032–1.81) (mm2/s), and specific heat (1.57–2.563) ((MJ)/(m3 × K)). The results also suggest a direct relationship between conductivity and diffusivity and an inverse relationship between conductivity and specific heat. On the other hand, the results indicate the direct relationship between the conductivity and diffusivity, and the inverse relationship between the specific heat and density, hardness, sound velocity, and rock strength; the opposite happens when the rock’s porosity is considered. Simple regression, multivariate regression, and the backpropagation–artificial neural network (BP–ANN) approach were utilized to predict the thermal properties of limestone. Results indicated that the ANN model provided superior prediction performance compared to other models
