    Introduction. Diabetes melitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia. Diabetes chronic hyperglycemia results in long-term damage, dysfunction, and organ failure, especially in the kidneys, nerves, heart, eyes, blood vessels to the brain which can disrupt cognitive function to dementia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of turmeric extract on the number of glia cells in the brain of diabetic mice. Materials & Methods. The research design used true experimental using the post-test control group design approach. The population of mice that met the criteria. The sample size was 25 samples. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The intervention group was given 3 types of doses, namely a low dose of 3 mg / 20g BW / day, a moderate dose of 6 mg / 20g BW / day, and a high dose of 10 mg / 20g BW / day. The analysis used the Anova test with a significant α = 0.05. Result. The results of the study using the Anova test using the ANOVA test showed that there was a significant effect between the significant effect of turmeric leaf extract on the decrease in mad cells in the brain of diabetes melitus model mice with p-value .000. In the follow-up test, the results of the group that had a significant effect were the treatment group with low, medium, and high doses. The highest mean value of decline with a value of 11.60 was obtained at high doses. Discussion. Turmeric extract influences the number of glia cells in the brain of diabetes melitus model mice, this can be used as a reference for turmeric leaf extract as a complementary treatment in patients with chronic hyperglycemia to avoid decreased cognitive function and dementia

    The Influence of Community Culture on the Giving of Colostrum to Infants

    Background: Awareness of the importance of breast feeding colostrum is still low, due to the presence of Culture contributes to the behavior of individuals and groups of people, cultures can menompa health behavior and health may worsen. This study aimed to determine the influence of culture on the provision comunnity colostrum in infants in rural districts Kandat Karangrejo Kediri district. Methods: The design of this study is an analytical cross sectional population of 56 and a total sample of 49 respondents who have a baby aged 7 days - 6 months, which is in the village of Kediri district Kandat Karangrejo districts, with a simple random sampling technique variable in this study consisted of two variables: independent variables which influence the society and culture of the dependent variable, namely the provision of colostrum in children, collect data using culture questionnaire and colostrum. Using chei-square statistical test (p < 0,05). Results: The results of this study, most of the 40 respondents had a positive culture and most of the 45 respondents gave the colostrum to the baby, based on test results che square p value = 0.002 (There is a cultural influence on giving colostrum to babies in Kandat Village, Karangrejo District, Kediri Regency). Discussion: The conclusion of this study is no effect on the provision of public culture colostrum to the baby in the Village District of Kandat Karangrejo Kediri

    Dietary pattern adherence in patients with type II diabetes mellitus

    Aims : Modern lifestyle with many choices of food menus that contain high glucose results in non-adherence to diet in patients with diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of dietary non-compliance in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Design : This type of research is descriptive research. The population is 50 people at the age of 30-60 with a sample of 46 respondents. Methdos : The independent variable is non-adherence to diet in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. The research instrument used a diet questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive frequency. Results : : The results showed that from 46 respondents, most (63.0%) had a diet with low adherence. Conclusions : Patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus in RT 02 Wonokromo mostly have a low level of adherence and are expected to add insight and knowledge about dietary adherence in people with diabetes mellitus and further research can be developed based on other factors in the hope of new insights

    The Influence of Propolis Compress on Phelebitis Score Reduction in Hospitalized Patients

    Phlebitis is complications of intravenous therapy. Warm compress can reduce degree of inflammation in patients with phlebitis. While propolis compress generally used to reduce the degree of dermatitis. This study aims to examine the effect of propolis compress to the score reduction of phlebitis. The study used Quasy-experimental. The independent variabel is propolis compress and dependent variable is phlebitis scores. The sample of the study are 10 respondents with phlebitis taken by Non-Randomized Sampling technique. The results showed average scores of phlebitis before treatment are an early sign of phlebitis, early stage, and moderate phlebitis stage with their respective percentage (30%). Furthemore, it's found 60% with score 0 or no phlebitis after the propolis compress treatment. Based on the test of Paired T-Test, there's different score between before and after propolis compress treatment that's marked by p-value (0,000) < α = 0,05 Furthermore, the test result of Independent T-Test showed the p-value (0,000) < α = 0,01. In conclusion, There's the effect of giving propolis compress to reduce the score of phlebitis. It's hoped to Paramedic's, especially nurses to perform alternative measures in handling the problem of nosocomial infections

    Self-care in patients with diabetes mellitus is something that is very important because it acts as a disease control (blood sugar increase) and prevents complications, so there needs to be a family role in controlling blood sugar. The purpose of the study was to describe the role of families in improving the self-care agency of type II diabetes mellitus clients at Amelia Pare Hospital. This research uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological study approach. The population of this study was a family of clients in the internal medicine room who had family members with type II diabetes mellitus at Amelia Pare Hospital with a sample number of 4 participants with purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive. The results of the study obtained family experience in improving the ability of self-care to have different ways and coping, as well as understanding in identification, problem-solving and confectionery differently each participant. The analysis of this study produced a theme about the way families improve self-care agencies, among others; 1) Understanding self care agency, 2) Components in Improving Self Care Agency, 3) How to Improve Self Care Agency, 4) Problems in Improving Self Care Agency. Efforts of people with type II diabetes mellitus can be in the form of discussions with close family or health services that are trusted in overcoming problems suffered by clients. &nbsp
