After three previous, short-term contacts with mental health professionals, she was admitted because of attempted suicide. From that moment forward, her desperation increased, resulting in repeated suicide attempts and multiple psychiatric admissions. GS has consistently considered a series of adverse life events as explaining her lack of control over her destructive behavior.
