    Wire tomography in the H-1NF heliac for investigation of fine structure of magnetic islands

    Electron beam wire tomography in the H-1NF heliac enables high resolution mapping of vacuum flux surfaces with minimal disruption of the plasma operations schedule. Recent experimental results have proven this technique to be a highly accurate and high resolution method for mapping vacuum magnetic islands. Islands of width as small as delta approximately 8 mm have been measured, providing estimates of the internal rotational transform of the island. Point-to-point comparison of the mapping results with computer tracing, in conjunction with an image warping technique, enables systematic exploration of magnetic islands and surfaces of interest. Recent development of a fast mapping technique significantly reduced the mapping time and made this technique suitable for mapping at higher magnetic fields.     The present study explores the quantitative analysis of literature on gravity from 2015 to 2019 based on INSPEC database. Scientometric is the study of quantitative analysis of scientific documents. For the present study data was collected from the INSPEC database published by Elsevier during the period from 2015 to 2019. The study evaluated the different dimensions of the scientometric analysis like, growth of literature, institution wise distribution, most prolific author, relative growth rate and doubling time etc. Highest number (7562) of articles published in the year 2018. The relating growth rate is decreasing and doubling time is increasing over the period. Majority of the articles are in the form of journals, China is the most productive country in global level, Sharif, M is the most prolific author in the field of gravity for the period of 2015 to 2019

    Development of Excel Sheets for the Design of Columns Under Tension or Compression, Biaxial Bending, Shear in Both Directions and Torsion

    ABSTRACT Many analytical softwares do not support design of columns subjected to tension or compression, biaxial bending, shear in both directions and torsion. Tension in columns occurs especially in columns of buildings subjected to horizontal loads due to wind or earthquake forces. Hence, a simple method is developed using MS excel sheet, from the existing Indian codal procedures. Results are compared with existing literature and comparison graphs show that results are matching with the existing literature. Hence, these excel sheets can be used in conjunction with the analytical softwares like STAAD and ETABS for the design of columns. Importance of this procedure lies in the fact that modification or alteratation can be made at any step and can be used for a vast number of columns in a short time during the design of mult-istoried buildings

    PERCEPTION AND USAGE OF HEALTH INFORMATION SOURCES AND SERVICES AMONG THE URBAN COMMUNITY USERS OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES: A CASE STUDY OF BHADRAVATHI

    The study examined the perception and usage of health information sources and services by the urban community users of public libraries. The study investigated 110 users from two public libraries in Bhadravathi. Findings revealed that majority of the users not enrolling library membership. 44.54% of users were visit library daily and large numbers of respondents were get health information through newspaper followed by television, advertisements and pamphlet/brochures. Education and sports were the most frequently preferred topics by the users. Arogya column published by Prajavani Kannada newspaper was most preferred newspaper column for getting health information by the users followed by VK Health column published by Vijaya Karnataka was stood in 2nd position to get health information by the users. Most of the users preferred Sudha, Gruhashobha and Taranga magazines to get health information. Stimulatingly, large number of the users frequently listen health related programs in Radio. The study also revealed that most of the users were aware about H1N1, DPT, Polio, BCG, TT, AIDS Control, 108 Arogya Kavacha, Malaria Cholera Dengue, Family Planning, Chicken Gunya district health programs of Karnataka state

    Structural Stability and Level Density of Hot Rotating Doubly Magic Isotopes of Calcium

    The recently reported doubly-magic nuclei 52Ca and 54Ca are discussed in comparison with the other magic isotopes of Calcium. the temperature effect is included in this study and hence the statistical approach to obtain the particle emission and level density are discussed in the context of temperature effect. We predict an increase in neutron emission for 54Ca due to the abrupt decrease in neutron separation energy around t=0.4MeV. Since the drop in the separation energy is closely associated with the structural changes in the rotating nuclei, relative increase in neutron emission probability around certain values of temperature may be construed as evidence for the shape transition. Such effects are not obtained for 40,48,52Ca isotopes. hence this statistical study reveals the higher stability of magic nature of 52Ca than 54Ca, against temperature

    Core magnetic islands and plasma confinement in the H-1NF heliac

    Plasma confinement in the vicinity of vacuum magnetic islands near the magnetic axis in the H-1NF heliac [S. M. Hamberger et al., Fusion Technol.17, 123 (1990)] has been experimentally studied in a low temperature argon plasma. Experimental results indicate that, under favorable conditions, these low order (m=2)islands near the core of the plasma serve as “pockets” of higher electron density. This results in significant profile modifications including enhancement of the core radial electric field to a large positive value, possibly through an electron-root ambipolar condition.     FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF NIOSOMAL SUSPENSION OF CEFIXIME

    Objectives : The present study was aimed to overcome the problems associated with the drug such as bioavailability, to reduce the dosage regimen, half life and to determine the appropriateness of niosomal formulation as a drug carrier.Methods: The niosomal suspension was prepared by thin film technique, by varying ratios of span 60 and cholesterol and varying the concentration of span 60. The prepared four formulations were evaluated for various parameters.Results: The optimized formulation had a vesicular size of 250-400nm .Varying the concentration of span 60 ,the entrapment efficiency demonstrated that it had a considerable task.The highest entrapment efficiency was  95.3%. The kinetics study confirmed that the liberation of drug from the niosomal suspension is in a restricted manner. The statistical optimization showed that NS2 is the optimized formulation. The gastrointestinal enzymes showed no significant change in the release of drug from the formulation. The Zone of Inhibition showed that Optimized formulation has better activity than the marketed formulation. The MIC was found to be 0.05mg , hence can be used as a efficient carrier for delivery of Cefixime.Conclusion: The present study concludes that the prepared Niosomal suspension is a convenient and efficiency carrier for the delivery of antibacterial drug. Besides this, it provided controlled delivery of drug.    Â

    Three view electronically scanned interferometer for plasma electron density measurements on the H-1 heliac

    We report the development of a three view electronically scanned millimeter-wave interferometer for plasma electron density profile measurement on the H-1 heliac. The system utilizes an electronically tunable backward-wave oscillator whose output is incident on a fixed blazed diffraction grating such that sweeping the source frequency effects a spatial scan of the plasma cross section. Two diagonal views essentially span most of the plasma cross section, while the horizontal arm views the lower half of the plasma. The diffracted beams traverse the plasma in <1ms with a spatial resolution ∼20mm. A study of the density projection dependence on magnetic configuration shows that the presence of low-order rational surfaces in the plasma gives rise to sharp density gradients in the vicinity of the surface

    A study on the prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome among students of a medical college

    Background: Obesity is emerging as a serious problem throughout the world. The overall life expectancy is significantly shortened and the quality of life decreased in those who are excessively overweight. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is characterized by a constellation of individual risk factors of cardiovascular disease. Central obesity is a key feature of this syndrome, reflecting the fact that the syndrome’s prevalence is driven by strong relationship between waist circumference and increasing obesity. Awareness about MetS in medical students is the need of the hour.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Dr. PSIMS and RF, Chinnoutpalli, Andhra Pradesh, India involving 400 medical students. A pre-tested questionnaire, measurement of blood pressure, fasting glucose level, fasting lipid profile, anthropometric variables such as height, weight, waist circumference and hip circumference were taken. Metabolic syndrome was defined based on the International Diabetes Federation criteria. Data was processed using SPSS version 16. T-test, chi-square test, fisher’s exact test, anova and odd’s ratio were used for statistical analysis.Results: 59% of the study population was female. The prevalence of obesity was 4%, with majority being males (81.25%) The MetS prevalence as per the International diabetes federation (IDF) criteria was 6% (n=24). The prevalence of MetS in males was 12.19% (n=20) and in females 1.69%. (n=4). The risk of developing metabolic syndrome is high among those who smoke, consume alcohol, consume junk food and sleep for longer durations.Conclusions: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome is 6%.
