A Comprehensive Review of Modulation Techniques used in Long Term Evolution
3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has come up with a technology called Long Term Evolution (LTE) to attain a new high-speed radio access in the field of mobile communications. Design of wireless communication system has been an important and challenging problem due to the nature of wireless channel. There are number of factors involved in the performance of a LTE system. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and Single Carrier Frequency Division (SC-FDMA) are a dominant part of future mobile communication. This paper describes about LTE physical layer, OFDMA and SC-FDMA receiver and transmitter structures, draw attention on the factor that influences the performance and improvement of multiple access techniques. The substantial use of the adaptive modulation in LTE is the main highlight of the paper. The selection of modulation techniques on the basis of BER, Error probability and SNR are computed
Analysis of Exposed Node Problem and Security Concerns in Adhoc Networks
āThe paper contains the analysis of exposed node problem in mobile adhoc network. The problem is that before starting the transmission, a station wants to know whether there is activity around the receiver. If the transmission is taking place around the receiver, there will be collisions and the effective throughput will be decreased. A detailed study of the simulation on these exposed nodes is carried out using the GloMoSim software to calculate the throughput for the various transmission powers and different protocols, so as to compare the performances by varying different parameters. These simulation results with GloMoSim corroborate our theoretical analysis.
Some Remarks on the Question of Charge Densities in Stationary-Current-Carrying Conductors
Recently, some discussions arose as to the definition of charge and the value
of the density of charge in stationary-current-carrying conductors. We stress
that the problem of charge definition comes from a misunderstanding of the
usual definition. We provide some theoretical elements which suggest that
positive and negative charge densities are equal in the frame of the positive

Legacy data and cosmological constraints from the angular-size/redshift relation for ultra-compact radio sources
We have re-examined an ancient VLBI survey of ultra-comact radio sources at
2.29 GHz, which gave fringe amplitudes for 917 such objects with total flux
density >0.5 Jy approximately. A number of cosmological investigations based
upon this survey have been published in recent years. We have updated the
sample with respect to both redshift and radio information, and now have full
data for 613 objects, significantly larger than the number (337) used in
earlier investigations. The corresponding angular-size/redshift diagram gives
Omega_m=0.25+0.04/-0.03, Omega_\Lambda=0.97+0.09/-0.13 and K=0.22+0.07/-0.10.
In combination with supernova data, and a simple-minded approach to CMB data
based upon the angular size of the acoustic horizon, our best figures are
Omega_m=0.298+0.025/-0.024, Omega_\Lambda=0.702+0.035/-0.036 and K=
0.000+0.021/-0.019. We have examined simple models of dynamical vacuum energy;
the first, based upon a scalar potential V(phi)=omega_C^2 phi^2/2, gives
w(0)=-1.00+0.06/-0.00, (dw/dz)_0=+0.00/-0.08; in this case conditions at z=0
require particular attention, to preclude behaviour in which phi becomes
singular as z -->infinity. For fixed w limits are w=-1.20+0.15/-0.14. The above

Axiomatic geometric formulation of electromagnetism with only one axiom: the field equation for the bivector field F with an explanation of the Trouton-Noble experiment
In this paper we present an axiomatic, geometric, formulation of
electromagnetism with only one axiom: the field equation for the Faraday
bivector field F. This formulation with F field is a self-contained, complete
and consistent formulation that dispenses with either electric and magnetic
fields or the electromagnetic potentials. All physical quantities are defined
without reference frames, the absolute quantities, i.e., they are geometric
four dimensional (4D) quantities or, when some basis is introduced, every
quantity is represented as a 4D coordinate-based geometric quantity comprising
both components and a basis. The new observer independent expressions for the
stress-energy vector T(n)(1-vector), the energy density U (scalar), the
Poynting vector S and the momentum density g (1-vectors), the angular momentum
density M (bivector) and the Lorentz force K (1-vector) are directly derived
from the field equation for F. The local conservation laws are also directly
derived from that field equation. The 1-vector Lagrangian with the F field as a
4D absolute quantity is presented; the interaction term is written in terms of
F and not, as usual, in terms of A. It is shown that this geometric formulation

Superconducting-coil--resistor circuit with electric field quadratic in the current
It is shown for the first time that the observed [Phys. Lett. A 162 (1992)
105] potential difference Phi_t between the resistor and the screen surrounding
the circuit is caused by polarization of the resistor because of the kinetic
energy of the electrons of the superconducting coil. The proportionality of
Phi_t to the square of the current and to the length of the superconducting
wire is explained. It is pointed out that measuring Phi_t makes it possible to
determine the Fermi quasimomentum of the electrons of a metal resistor.Comment: 2 pages, 1 figur
Clinical yield of diagnostic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in orthotopic liver transplant recipients With suspected biliary complications
Diagnostic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (DāERCP) is commonly performed for the evaluation of biliary complications after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). This practice is contrary to the national trend of reserving endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for therapeutic purposes. Our aim was to evaluate the clinical yield and complications of DāERCP in OLT recipients. In this retrospective study, 165 OLT recipients who underwent ERCP between January 2006 and December 2010 at the University of Michigan were divided into 2 groups: (1) a therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (TāERCP) group (if they met prespecified criteria that suggested a high likelihood of endoscopic intervention) and (2) a DāERCP group (if there was clinical suspicion of biliary disease but they did not meet any criteria). The 2 groups were compared with respect to the proportion of subjects undergoing highāyield ERCP, which was defined as a procedure resulting in a clinically important intervention that modified the disease course. 66.3% of the DāERCP procedures were classified as highāyield, whereas 90.1% of the TāERCP procedures were ( P < 0.001). Serious complications were infrequent in both groups. A survey of practitioners caring for OLT recipients suggested that the rate of highāyield DāERCP seen in this study is congruent with what is considered acceptable in clinical practice. In conclusion, although TāERCP is more likely to reveal a pathological process requiring an intervention, DāERCP appears to be an acceptable clinical strategy for OLT recipients because of the high likelihood of a highāyield study and the low rate of serious complications. A Study of 3CR Radio Galaxies from z = 0.15 to 0.65. II. Evidence for an Evolving Radio Structure
Radio structure parameters were measured from the highest quality radio maps
available for a sample of 3CR radio galaxies in the redshift range 0.15 < z <
0.65. Combined with similar data for quasars in the same redshift range, these
morphology data are used in conjunction with a quantification of the richness
of the cluster environment around these objects (the amplitude of the
galaxy-galaxy spatial covariance function, Bgg) to search for indirect evidence
of a dense intracluster medium (ICM). This is done by searching for confinement
and distortions of the radio structure that are correlated with Bgg.
Correlations between physical size and hot spot placement with Bgg show
evidence for an ICM only at z 0.4,
suggesting an epoch of z ~ 0.4 for the formation of an ICM in these Abell
richness class 0-1, FR2-selected clusters. X-ray selected clusters at
comparable redshifts, which contain FR1 type sources exclusively, are
demonstrably richer than the FR2-selected clusters found in this study. The
majority of the radio sources with high Bgg values at z < 0.4 can be described
as ``fat doubles'' or intermediate FR2/FR1s. The lack of correlation between
Bgg and bending angle or Bgg and lobe length asymmetry suggests that these
types of radio source distortion are caused by something other than interaction
with a dense ICM. Thus, a large bending angle cannot be used as an unambiguous
indicator of a rich cluster around powerful radio sources. These results
support the hypothesis made in Paper 1 that cluster quasars fade to become
FR2s, then FR1s, on a timescale of 0.9 Gyrs (for H0 = 50 km s^-1 Mpc^-1).Comment: 44 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables; to be published in the September 2002

Disruption of a GATA4/Ankrd1 Signaling Axis in Cardiomyocytes Leads to Sarcomere Disarray: Implications for Anthracycline Cardiomyopathy
Doxorubicin (Adriamycin) is an effective anti-cancer drug, but its clinical usage is limited by a dose-dependent cardiotoxicity characterized by widespread sarcomere disarray and loss of myofilaments. Cardiac ankyrin repeat protein (CARP, ANKRD1) is a transcriptional regulatory protein that is extremely susceptible to doxorubicin; however, the mechanism(s) of doxorubicin-induced CARP depletion and its specific role in cardiomyocytes have not been completely defined. We report that doxorubicin treatment in cardiomyocytes resulted in inhibition of CARP transcription, depletion of CARP protein levels, inhibition of myofilament gene transcription, and marked sarcomere disarray. Knockdown of CARP with small interfering RNA (siRNA) similarly inhibited myofilament gene transcription and disrupted cardiomyocyte sarcomere structure. Adenoviral overexpression of CARP, however, was unable to rescue the doxorubicin-induced sarcomere disarray phenotype. Doxorubicin also induced depletion of the cardiac transcription factor GATA4 in cardiomyocytes. CARP expression is regulated in part by GATA4, prompting us to examine the relationship between GATA4 and CARP in cardiomyocytes. We show in co-transfection experiments that GATA4 operates upstream of CARP by activating the proximal CARP promoter. GATA4-siRNA knockdown in cardiomyocytes inhibited CARP expression and myofilament gene transcription, and induced extensive sarcomere disarray. Adenoviral overexpression of GATA4 (AdV-GATA4) in cardiomyocytes prior to doxorubicin exposure maintained GATA4 levels, modestly restored CARP levels, and attenuated sarcomere disarray. Interestingly, siRNA-mediated depletion of CARP completely abolished the Adv-GATA4 rescue of the doxorubicin-induced sarcomere phenotype. These data demonstrate co-dependent roles for GATA4 and CARP in regulating sarcomere gene expression and maintaining sarcomeric organization in cardiomyocytes in culture. The data further suggests that concurrent depletion of GATA4 and CARP in cardiomyocytes by doxorubicin contributes in large part to myofibrillar disarray and the overall pathophysiology of anthracycline cardiomyopathy
