    B(Ds^+ -> l^+ nu) and the Decay Constant f_(D_s^+)

    Full text link
    I report final CLEO-c results on the purely leptonic decays of the D_s^+ -> l^+ nu, for the cases when l^+ is a mu^+ or tau^+, when it decays into pi^+ anti-nu, using 314/pb of data at 4.170 GeV. I also include preliminary results from the tau^+ -> e^+ nu anti-nu channel using 195/pb. Combining both we measure f_{D_s}= 275 +/- 10 +/- 5 MeV, and f_{D_s^+}/{f_{D^+}=1.24 +/- 0.10 =/- 0.03 .Comment: Presented at "The 2007 Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics," Manchester, England, 19-25 July 2007, to appear in the proceedings. Enhanced Accessibility for People with Disabilities Living in Urban Areas

    Get PDF
    [Excerpt] People with disabilities constitute a significant proportion of the poor in developing countries. If internationally agreed targets on reducing poverty are to be reached, it is critical that specific measures be taken to reduce the societal discrimination and isolation that people with disabilities continue to face. Transport is an important enabler of strategies to fight poverty through enhancing access to education, employment, and social services. This project aims to further the understanding of the mobility and access issues experienced by people with disabilities in developing countries, and to identify specific steps that can be taken to start addressing problems. A major objective of the project is to compile a compendium of guidelines that can be used by government authorities, advocacy groups, and donor/loan agencies to improve the access of people with disabilities to transport and other services in urban areas

    Universal fermionization of bosons on permutative representations of the Cuntz algebra O2{\cal O}_{2}

    Full text link
    Bosons and fermions are described by using canonical generators of Cuntz algebras on any permutative representation. We show a fermionization of bosons which universally holds on any permutative representation of the Cuntz algebra O2{\cal O}_{2}. As examples, we show fermionizations on the Fock space and the infinite wedge.Comment: 12 page

    Are There Any Type 2 QSOs? The Case of AXJ0341.4-4453

    Full text link
    The X-ray source AXJ0341.4-4453 was described by Boyle et al. as a Type 2 AGN at z = 0.672 based on the absence of broad emission lines in the observed wavelength range 4000-7000 Angstroms. We obtained a new spectrum of AXJ0341.4-4453 extending to 9600 Angstroms which reveals broad Balmer lines and other characteristics of Seyfert 1 galaxies. The FWHM of broad H-beta is at least 1600 km/s, while [O III]5007 has FWHM = 730 km/s. The flux ratio [O III]5007/H-beta = 1. Thus, AXJ0341.4-4453 is by definition a narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy, or perhaps a moderately reddened Seyfert 1 galaxy, but it is not a Type 2 QSO. Although examples of the latter have long been sought, particularly in connection with the problem of the X-ray background, there is still virtually no evidence for the existence of any Type 2 QSO among X-ray selected samples.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to appear in MNRA
