    A new model for enhancing student portal usage in Saudi Arabia universities

    Portals are gateways that provide users with the information they need from different sources and display it on a single page. It is important to see that universities utilize the resources and services provided by their student portals. With the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia aims to develop and improve student portals by providing high-quality teaching services through the university portal systems. This paper discusses the importance of student portal usage in Saudi Arabian universities and investigates the factors that influence the utilization of student portals as perceived by the students of the Saudi universities. Based on these factors, a model is proposed which identifies students’ expectations about the Saudi university portals. A quantitative methodology was employed to develop the model. The results revealed that 8 out of 10 factors of the model are significant and positively affect student portal usage. The enhancement of student portals based on the identified significant factors will assist the universities to increase their utilization and their provided services

    A conformance measurement model for quality assurance standard in e-learning: a case study in University Of Tabuk

    This study discusses the importance of quality assurance standards in e-learning. Although a number of researches have studied e-learning quality standards and measures in the context of the U.S. and other developed countries, to date, there remains no significant study on learning quality standards and measures in the context of Saudi Arabia. This study seeks to identify which standards and measures will ensure quality e-learning in universities in Saudi Arabia whilst also helping to mitigate the problems of poor quality of learning, lack of management systems, and weak learning support services. To this end, this study develops a model for e-learning quality standards and measures by focusing on the University of Tabuk. The study collected 103 usable responses by using the Delphi method. The findings of reveal seven domains and 21 criteria that are considered fundamental for evaluate e-learning quality standards in Saudi Arabia. This study is set to enhance and improve the quality of e-learning programs to promote better academic performance in universities in Saudi Arabia

    Students portal usage model based on social cognitive theory in Saudi Arabia universities

    Student portal plays a vital role in the advancement of education system. In particular, student portal has been utilised to complement the formal education system by making knowledge and services available to all users. Hence, student portal is considered as a gateway that integrates information from different sources accessible to all the students based on their needs. Although most Saudi Arabia universities are currently equipped with good ICT infrastructure, the usage of student portal remains low. Therefore, there is a need to improve students’ portal based on specific requirements deemed appropriate. This research aims to formulate a model for student portals usage that incorporates factors that affect students’ engagement with the portal. This research employed Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) theory to build the model based on students’ expectations and perceptions. Feedback gathered from survey involving 399 students from four Saudi Arabia universities were analysed using Smart-Pls quantitative analysis tools. The findings from this research revealed that eight out of ten factors were found to be significant and positively affect the students’ portal usage. These factors include user satisfaction, design, availability of content, user intention, efficiency, portal user support, portal service quality and interaction. The enhancement of students’ portal usage based on the above significant factors will assist universities in increasing their portal usage as well as the corresponding services provided

    Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia aims to develop the knowledge in the nation. Higher education is responsible for directing university education, adopted policy, encouraging research and formulating rules. Saudi Arabia has adopted a policy to introduce information and communication technologies to cater for its rapid economic development. Most of government administrative agencies in the Saudi Arabia face great pressure in order to overcome the challenges of introducing such technologies. There are a 28 universities in Saudi Arabia. Portals can be basically defines as the gateways that help in integrating the information from various sources and provide it on a single window for its end users. This study aims to investigate the various factors that help in encouraging the students to use the university portal. An online survey questionnaire was collected from 91 students from various universities in Saudi Arabia, reviewed numbers of papers. The findings reveals seven factors user satisfaction, system quality, interaction, accessibility, efficiency, behaviour and e-Service factors which considered significant to motivate and attract student to use university portal and also increase the satisfaction of students in Saudi Arabia universities
