This paper introduces the Final Year Project entitled Data Mining in an Electronic Poll (e-Poll) System, with the problem being how the use of Data Mining in an Online Poll System can help managers to obtain statistics of customer feedback or opinions to help achieve their company objectives. The project's objectives are to conduct study on the use of Data Mining for an e-Poll system and how it affects the decision of system owners, to design a Data Mart for the Poll that will allow effortless management of the system's information, and lastly, to produce a working prototype of the system that allows capturing and retrieval of poll participation information from store members. The procedures identified to accomplish these tasks are by going through literature sources to better understand the proper tools and technique in the development of the system, by observing current online polling systems and online stores, and by creating a functional prototype of the e-Poll system to capture poll participation information in order for analysis to be performed unto them using Data Mining tools. Through the development of this system, the author finds that Data Mining offers managers to transform their raw data into useful data, save time in uncovering data trends and analyze vast amounts of data at a time. Proper design of the Data Mart using Dimensional Modeling or Star Schema allows optimal query performance and greater understandability without any loss of information. The e-Poll design allows correlation of the poll participant's feedback to their personal information, allowing proper analysis and a gateway for managers to gather potentially important information from all or a sample of their customers, regardless of geographical boundaries and/or time. Parametric resonance and spin-charge separation in 1D fermionic systems

We show that the periodic modulation of the Hamiltonian parameters for 1D correlated fermionic systems can be used to parametrically amplify their bosonic collective modes. Treating the problem within the Luttinger liquid picture, we show how charge and spin density waves with different momenta are simultaneously amplified. We discuss the implementation of our predictions for cold atoms in 1D modulated optical lattices, showing that the fermionic momentum distribution directly provides a clear signature of spin-charge separation.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, published versio

We describe the implications of a study of database browsing behaviour for the development of a system to support more effective browsing. In particular we consider the importance of collaborative working, both in learning browsing skills and in co‐operating on a shared information‐retrieval task. From our study, we believe that an interface to support collaboration should promote the awareness of the activities of others, better visualization of the information data structures being browsed, and effective communication of the browsing process

The Gavarnie Thrust shows a 30m thick fault zone developed in the ampelitic and calcareous Silurian rocks, with a record of ductile deformation (mylonites) close to the main thrust plane and a progressive increase of the brittle deformation towards the marginal areas of the fault zone. The analysis of thin-sections under reflected and transmitted light with optical microscope reveals that calcite and phyllosilicates control the strain distribution in the fault rocks, leading to generation of mylonitic foliations and ductile-brittle S-C-C’ structures, respectively. Dinamic recrystallization, solution-precipitation and intracrystalline deformation generate shape preferred orientation in calcite grains. The main shear indicators (S-C-C’, brittle Riedel fractures, oblique foliations, pressure-shadows on pyrites…) are compatible with the South vergence of the Gavarnie Thrust, and no relevant oblique component of displacement has been observed

The file attached to this record is the author's final peer reviewed version. The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link. Objectives: Micro-RNA, small noncoding RNA fragments involved in gene regulation, and microvesicles, membrane-bound particles less than 1 μm known to regulate cellular processes including responses to injury, may serve as disease-specific biomarkers of acute kidney injury. We evaluated the feasibility of measuring these signals as well as other known acute kidney injury biomarkers in a mixed pediatric cardiac surgery population. Design: Single center prospective cohort feasibility study. Setting: PICU. Patients: Twenty-four children (≤ 17 yr) undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass without preexisting inflammatory state, acute kidney injury, or extracorporeal life support. Interventions: None. Measurements and Main Results: Acute kidney injury was defined according to modified Kidney Diseases Improving Global Outcomes criteria. Blood and urine samples were collected preoperatively and at 6–12 and 24 hours. Microvesicles derivation was assessed using flow cytometry and NanoSight analysis. Micro-RNAs were isolated from plasma and analyzed by microarray and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Data completeness for the primary outcomes was 100%. Patients with acute kidney injury (n = 14/24) were younger, underwent longer cardiopulmonary bypass, and required greater inotrope support. Acute kidney injury subjects had different fractional content of platelets and endothelial-derived microvesicles before surgery. Platelets and endothelial microvesicles levels were higher in acute kidney injury patients. A number of micro-RNA species were differentially expressed in acute kidney injury patients. Pathway analysis of candidate target genes in the kidney suggested that the most often affected pathways were phosphatase and tensin homolog and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 signaling. Conclusions: Microvesicles and micro-RNAs expression patterns in pediatric cardiac surgery patients can be measured in children and potentially serve as tools for stratification of patients at risk of acute kidney injury

Potency of Azobacter and Mucuna bracteata forage in increasing the nitrogen content of oil palm empty fruit bunch (TKKS) compost. The management of oil palm empty fruit bunch (TKKS) is still a problem. One of the alternative to utilize this by product is by composting, but there's still a problem in the low content of nitrogen. The nitrogen can be added from N fertilizer, manure, or by using N-fix microorganisms. The research was aimed to evaluate the potential of Azotobacter and Mucuna bracteata forage in increasing the nitrogen content of TKKS compost. The research was done using Factorial Randomized Block Design, consisting of 2 factors and 3 replication. The first factor was the inokulation time of Azotobacter that consists of 5 treatments (without application, initial application, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks after composting) and the second factor was the composition of compost ingredient that consists of 3 treatments (100% TKKS, 80% TKKS + 20% M.bracteata, and 60% TKKS + 40% M.bracteata). The result showed that the formulation of compost ingreadients with M.bracteata forage influenced the rate of decomposition and nitrogen content significantly. The increased of nitrogen was 15.20% at the composition of 60% TKKS + 40% M.bracteata. The inoculation time (initial and 2 weeks after composting) increased 2.23% nitrogen content of TKKS. Interaction between Azotobacter application time at 4 weeks after composting with compost composition at 100% TKKS increased nitrogen content about 7.27%. The increasing nitrogen at the composition 80% TKKS + 20% M.bracteata increased nitrogen content about 8.24% by applying Azotobacter in the initial time of composting. Meanwhile, by increasing the amount of M. bracteata did not increase the nitrogen content. Keywords : oil palm empty bunches compost, Azotobacter, M. bracteata, nitroge
