    Author Institution: Department of Geology, University of Akron ; Department of Geology, Miami UniversityBorings and measured sections were used to trace 3 Wisconsinan tills in Richfield Township of Summit County in northeastern Ohio. Various fluvial and glaciofluvial deposits were found underlying, overlying, and between the tills. The tills were differentiated upon the basis of stratigraphy, texture, and mineralogy. Generally, the tills grade from coarse-grained with high quartz/feldspar and alkali feldspar/plagioclase values as their age decreases. The Early Wisconsinan Mogadore Till is identified by its sandy nature and dolomitic carbonate content and may have been deposited by either the Grand River lobe or the Killbuck lobe. An unnamed till of indeterminable age has nearly equal amounts of calcite and dolomite. Not enough evidence has been acquired to determine if this till represents a readvance of Mogadore ice or a facies of the Kent (Navarre) Till.     Author Institution: Department of Geology, University of Akron ; Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological SurveySeveral borings and trenches across the Lake Willard Basin, Huron County, Ohio showed the presence of at least 2 tills and 2 glaciofluvial sequences. The youngest glaciofluvial sequence was overlain by marl and lacustrine silts correlated to classical Lake Willard, which in turn were overlain by organic soils, muck and peat. Wood from the upper part of the marl indicated that the lake possibly began to evaporate or drain as early as 12,500 Y.B.P. (years before present). Silts containing fragments of herbaceous vegetation and finally peat containing a stump and log of Thuja occidentalis (northern white cedar) indicated a swamp at 9,810 Y.B.P. Geomorphology and stratigraphy showed that the lake was probably not very deep during all or most of its existence. Fossiliferous marls suggested a very low energy environment after complete retreat of ice from the Willard area

The type section of the Navarre Till is located near the margin of glaciation in Stark County. Interpretations of the diamict at the type locality include a meltout till overlying shale. Other sections in the study area consist of meltout or flow tills which occur as stratified or massive diamicts interbedded with silts, sands, and gravels.     Author Institution: Department of Geology, University of AkronThe clay mineralogy of three pre-Woodfordian tills of the Grand River lobe in Columbiana County, Ohio, shows the influence of the underlying Pennsylvanian strata of the Allegheny Plateau. The mean diffraction intensity ratios (DI) of these sandy tills range from 0.5 to 0.7. These ratios are comparable to those of the underlying bedrock; 60% of the variance of the clay mineralogy may be attributed to the bedrock. Weathered bedrock and weathered older drift are possible sources of kaolinite. Locally entrained Pennsylvanian sandstone clasts at the base of the glacier may have acted as tools for extensive abrasion of softer argillaceous shales. This abrasion may have produced tills having a higher kaolinite content than those near the edge of the Allegheny Escarpment in north-central Ohio
