Shockwave Behaviour in RR Lyrae Stars
Here we present the detailed analysis of some modulated Kepler and K2 RR
Lyrae stars that show peculiar bump progression in respect to the pulsation
phase.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, to be published in the proceedings of "The RR

Automated Extended Aperture Photometry for K2 RR Lyrae stars
Light curves for RR Lyrae stars can be difficult to obtain properly in the K2
mission due to the similarities between the timescales of the observed physical
phenomena and the instrumental signals appearing in the data. We developed a
new photometric method called Extended Aperture Photometry (EAP), a key element
of which is to extend the aperture to an optimal size to compensate for the
motion of the telescope and to collect all available flux from the star before
applying further corrections. We determined the extended apertures for
individual stars by hand so far. Now we managed to automate the pipeline that
we intend to use for the nearly four thousand RR Lyrae targets observed in the
K2 mission. We present the outline of our pipeline and make some comparisons to
other photometric solutions.Comment: To appear in Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series,

Testing Ultra-low Amplitude Cepheid Candidates in the Galactic Disk by TESS and Gaia
Ultra-low amplitude (ULA) and strange mode Cepheids are thought to be
pulsating variable stars that are near to or are at the edges of the classical
instability strip. Until now, a few dozen such variable star candidates have
been found both in the Large Magellanic Cloud and the Milky Way. In this
present work, we studied six ULA Cepheid candidates in the Milky Way,
identified by Szab\'o et al. (2009) using CoRoT and 2MASS data. In order to
identify their positions in the period--luminosity and color--magnitude
diagrams, we used the Gaia DR3 parallax and brightness data of each star to
calculate their reddening-free absolute magnitudes and distances. Furthermore,
we calculated the Fourier parameters (e.g., period and amplitude) of the light
variations based on CoRoT and TESS measurements, and established the long-term
phase shifts for four out of six stars. Based on the results, we conclude that
none of the six ULA Cepheid candidates are pulsating variable stars, but rather
rotation-induced variable stars (rotational spotted and ~Canum
Venaticorum variables) that are either bluer or fainter than Cepheids would be.Comment: 14 pages, 6 tables, 10 figures. Accepted to Astronomy and

Food safety knowledge and awareness of primary school children
The National Food Chain Safety Office (NFCSO) is working to ensure the highest possible level of food safety from farm to table. As an integral part of this, particular attention is paid to minimizing risks that result from the potential lack of knowledge or from the misconceptions of consumers by its awareness raising programs, and emphasis is put on this even in the case of young children who are most receptive to these ideas. In our paper, the results of the survey intended to form the basis of this activity and investigating the knowledge level and awareness of the children are presented. Our research experience indicates that the sometimes incomplete food safety knowledge of children and, in addition, the fact that risks are perceived to be less than actual levels in certain cases justify the coordinated work of teachers and authority experts to instill the necessary knowledge in children already in primary schools
Automated Extended Aperture Photometry of K2 Variable Stars
Proper photometric data are challenging to obtain in the K2 mission of the
Kepler space telescope due to strong systematics caused by the two-wheel-mode
operation. It is especially true for variable stars wherein physical phenomena
occur on timescales similar to the instrumental signals. We originally
developed a method with the aim to extend the photometric aperture to be able
to compensate the motion of the telescope which we named Extended Aperture
Photometry (EAP). Here we present the outline of the automatized version of the
EAP method, an open-source pipeline called autoEAP. We compare the light curve
products to other photometric solutions for examples chosen from high-amplitude
variable stars. Besides the photometry, we developed a new detrending method,
which is based on phase dispersion minimization and is able to eliminate
long-term instrumental signals for periodic variable stars.Comment: 15 pages, 12 figures. Accepted for publication in PASP. Code
