Mathematical Modelling, Computation & Analysis of Oil Pipeline Buckling
There are some issues in modeling problem solving activity by means of Catastrophe
theory, more particularly modeling activity by a cusp-catastrophe. A cusp-catastrophe
describes parameter dependent, bifurcation determined states of stability and instability,
which under specific condition can move into the realm of chaos. Thus, the model of
ācatastropheā and āchaosā belong to the same family.
Thus, during this project, Hobbs equation and Euler bending theory is the main things to
be used. All the mathematical modeling were base on Hobbs equation. The imperfection
in buckling is considered as catastrophe effect which means nature factor.
The objective of this project is to analyze the parameters that affect the buckling of the oil
pipeline sub sea
Vermicomposting of Yard Waste and Shredded Paper by Eisenia Foetida
Yard waste comprises an estimated 6.3% of the total waste generated by residential area
in Kuala Lumpur in 2002. It should not be land filled because it is relatively a clean and
biodegradable material that can be recycled for soil improvement and other agricultural
uses. Paper comprises 6.7% of total residential waste in Kuala Lumpur in 2002. In the
past, paper was collected with other Municipal Solid Waste and sent to landfills or
incinerators for final disposal. As fewer incinerators have been under construction in
recent years, paper disposal has become a serious problem in many cities.
Vermicomposting is an alternative for waste management of using earthworms to
accelerate the decomposition and stabilization of biodegradable matter into usable end
product called vermicompost. The project was focused on the efficiency of Eisenia
Foetida in vermicomposting of yard waste and shredded paper generated by Universiti
Teknologi Petronas. The study was conducted for 10 weeks by measuring the changes
in Total Organic Carbon, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus and pH in
homogenized sample which collected at every 2 weeks of the experimental duration. 20
reactors having five Carbon to Nitrogen ratio (C/N=30, 35, 40, 45 and 50) and four
variation initial numbers of earthworms (N0=0, 20, 30 and 40) were tested. The
moisture level of substrate was maintained around 70-90% throughout the study period.
The maximum reduction of TOC was in R3 at C/N=SO (22.26%). The highest
increment of TKN occurred in R3 at C/N=50 (247.53%). The highest increment of K
was in R3 at C/N=SO (290.00%). Available P increased greatest in R3 at C/N=SO
(728.90 %). The maximum reduction of pH was observed in R2 at C/N=30 (7.400/o).
However, the change of pH in vermicomposting was not affected by No. The maximum
reduction of weight of substrate after 10 weeks of vermicomposting was in R3 at
C/N=45 (44.62%). The experimental data had provided that C/N=SO and No=40 was the
most efficient condition for optimum vermicomposting of yard waste and shredded
paper

An Evaluation on Compost Quality Produced in UTP Campus
UTP is producing compost or organic fertilizer from the food waste that generated by cafeterias
in UTP. A few tests have to be carried out to analyze the content of the compost and to determine
the quality of the compost, whether it is suitable and safe to be used as fertilizer. Compost
quality standard documents from Canada and United States are the main references in
determining the quality of compost produced in UTP. There are 6 criteria that being considered
in determining the quality of compost produced in UTP which are maturity of the compost,
heavy metal content, foreign matter content, pathogens content, constituents of the compost
which indicates the percent ofCHNS, NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) content of the
compost and moisture content. Maturity of compost is determined based on the germination of
radish seeds and bean sprout seeds in the compost and C/N ratio of the compost. Germination of
those two types of seeds is carried out in three different conditions which are in 100 % soil, 1 00
% compost and in 50 % soil and 50 % compost. The content of seven types of heavy metal which
are lead, cadmium, copper, chromium, zinc, nickel and boron were tested on the compost. Any
matters that are greater than 2 mm in dimension that results from human intervention and having
organic or inorganic constituents such as metal, glass and synthetic polymers (plastic, rubber) are
considered as foreign matters. Quanti-Tray I 2000 are the device that being used to determine the
amount of bacteria in 100 ml of compost sample using IDEXX-d substrate reagent. NPK content
is determined by carrying out powder pillow test. Moisture content of the compost is determined
using the moisture analyzer. For maturity aspect, germination of both types of seeds only
occurred in 100% soil. C/N ratio of the compost is 17.67. The content of heavy metal in the
compost are within the allowable limit. For foreign matter analysis, compost produced in UTP
contains no man-made foreign matter such as glass, plastic, metal and stones. For pathogens
analysis, the compost does not contain E.coli. The amount ofNPK in compost produced in UTP
is low compared to the standard and moisture content of the compost is 54.65 %
International touristsā demand on food tourism in Kuala Lumpur
The purpose of this paper is to identify the demand on food tourism in Kuala Lumpur among the International Touristsā who have visited Kuala Lumpur. Food tourism nowadays plays an important role in branding a destination of the place. Kuala Lumpur is well known for varieties of cuisine and this can make it as a food tourism destination in order to attract the International Touristsā to revisit the place. This study is using quantitative approach to measure the food preference, demand and perceived image of Kuala Lumpur on food tourism in Kuala Lumpur. Variable that were identified to measure in this study are the food preference patterns, demand on food tourism and how international touristsā perceived image of Kuala Lumpur on food tourism. In addition, survey questionnaire is chosen because it is consider the most productive tool to collect information that represents the general views of the group. A total of 146 respondents was sampled. Analysis that were used are descriptive and frequency analysis. The findings indicated that the International Touristsā agree to suggest Kuala Lumpur as a food tourism destination. They are interested with the cuisine such as Arabic Cuisine, Thai Cuisine, Malay Cuisine and Indian Cuisine. Overall, they love to explore different type of cuisine in Kuala Lumpur and more studies can be improve on food tourism in Kuala Lumpur for future researchers
A study on profitability performance between Islamic banking and conventional banking / Nurul Syazana Basar
The research applies performance evaluation of banks in Malaysia. It means evaluation how well the company performs in profitability. The main aim is achieved through ratio analysis of Islamic bank represented by Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad while conventional bank is RHB Bank. The main data was collection from the Annual Financial Report on both of banks that cover from 2004 until 2009. Different financial ratio are evaluated such capital structure and solvency, return on investment and operating profit margin. The mathematical calculation was established for ratio analysis between two banks from 2004 until 2009. The graphical analysis and comparison are applies between two banks for measurement all of types of financial ratio analysis. The profitability ratio is used to asses the capability of company to generate earning as
compared to its expanses and other relevant cost incurred during certain period of time. Leverage ratios, also known as capitalization ratios, indicate how leveraged a company is in terms of debt, and how well it can handle that debt with its assets and operating income. Thus, this study evaluates how the banks manage their debts. Overall analyses are measurement the best one between Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad and RHB Bank

REMOTE MONITORING OF VITAL SIGNS
In this project, our goal is to design a wireless sensor system, which can
monitor user's vital signs and notifies medical personnel. . During health
emergencies, there is little tolerance for system errors and poor usability designs.
Clinical and technological efforts are being directed to focus on post surgery
concerns to enhance the safety of the patients during this vulnerable period. This
system will consist of a monitoring device, data transmission and the monitoring
station. The proposed device will be asked to measure the blood pressure of the
patients. Data will be transmitted using Hyperterminal and RS 232 into PC and
the development the GUI will be based on LAB VIEW. This system shall facilitate
communication between patients and medical professionals from distant locations
