    THE ROLE OF SQ3R STRATEGY ON MATHEMATICAL COMMUNICATION ABILITY AND SELF REGULATED LEARNING OF SEVENTH GRADE STUDENT

    The study was a pre-test -post test experimental control group design having a goal to examine the role of SQ3R strategy and mathematics prior ability (MPA) on students’ mathematical communication ability  (MCA) and self regulated learning (SRL). The study involved 68 seventh grade students, a mathematical communication test, a mathematical  SRL scale, and a perception on SQ3R strategy scale. The study found that on MCA, its Gain, and on SRL students getting treatment by SQ3R strategy attained better grades than the grades of students taught by conventional teaching, but the grades of MCA were still at low level, and of SRL the grades were at medium level. The other findings, there was high association between MCA and SRL, and students performed high perception toward SQ3R strategy

    Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Matematis Siswa dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Melalui Pendekatan Creative Problem Solving (CPS)

    Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika melalui pendekatan Creative Problem Solving di kelas VIII - A SMP Negeri 3 Soreang. Subjek dalam pene litian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII - A SMP Negeri 3 Soreang yang berjumlah 33 siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, yaitu siklus pertama terdiri atas 5 kali pertemuan dan siklus kedua 5 kali pertemuan. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pene litian ini adalah observasi, angket dan tes . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa kelas VIII - A SMP Negeri 3 Soreang mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh sebanyak 32 siswa atau 96 ,77% mengalami peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis berdasarkan skor total aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Persentase rata - rata nilai tes mengalami peningkatan dari 53,71% pada siklus I menjadi 68,39% pada siklus II dan dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Creative Problem Solving sudah baik dan sesuai dengan karakteristik nya . Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan persentase rata - rata keterlaksanaan dari 83,33% pada siklus I menjadi 93,33% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil angket respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika kaitannya dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis ma tematis, mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II

    INDUCTIVE-DEDUCTIVE LEARNING APPROACH TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS AND SELF EFFICACY

    This study was a pretest-posttest designed control group experiment, aimed at reviewing the role of inductive-deductive approach on Islamic Junior High School students’ skills in mathematical problem solving and self efficacy. This research involved 56 grade eight students, a set of problem solving ability tests and a set of self efficacy scale. The result found that in the extent of mathematical problem solving skills and self efficacy, students who received problem solving-based learning achieved better quality than students who received conventional learning, either overall or based on the early mathematical ability (EMA). The interaction between learning and EMA in achieving and increasing problem solving skill showed no significant difference. Other than that, we found robust association between mathematical problem solving skills and self efficacy

    This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities through the guided discovery model and to know the difference in increasing mathematical problem solving abilities using the guided discovery model using conventional learning models. The research method used was quasi-experimental research with quantitative nature. The sample consisted of 50 students, 25 people in the control class and 25 people in the experimental class. The results of the study showed that: (1) There was an increase in the ability to solve mathematical problems through the guided discovery model in class IV SD; (2) There is a difference in the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities using the guided discovery model using conventional learning models

    The role of statistics is very important in recent life, because statistics can help us in making decisions based on facts or data needed so that the statistics literacy ability needs to be mastered by students. But the statistics literacy ability of students has didn't get the results expected because the students were having a hard time in describing and presenting research data in their thesis writing. One of the causes of the weak ability of statistical literacy in students is by the lack of variation in learning approaches. This study aims to determine the differences in statistical knowledge and statistical disposition between the scientific learning approach and conventional learning. This research is a quasi-experimental study by designing unequal PreTest and PostTest control groups. This research was conducted at one of the tertiary institutions in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The populations were students in the 3rd semester, totaling 12 classes; samples were taken randomly by 2 classes. The results of the study stated that there is a difference in Statistical Knowledge and disposition of statistics between students who use the scientific approach and those who use conventional approaches
