An investigation into the voice of identical twins
An investigation into the voice of identical twinsRunning title: Voice of identical twinsAbstractThe study aimed at perceptually and acoustically differentiating the voices of identical twins from each other. AX same-different perception test was done to find whether the voices of identical twins could be perceived as same or different voices. Ten monozygotic twin pairs, 5 males and 5 females between the ages of 10 to 15 year old served as speakers. The speakers phonation of \a\ was permuted which resulted in pairs of two different stimuli. The paired stimuli were part of one of the following speaker groups: same speaker (different repetitions) or monozygotic twins. For the AX perception test 5 native listeners (students of Speech Language Pathology) were asked to judge for each stimuli pair whether it belonged to the same speaker or different speakers. On average, the listener’s correct identification of same speakers was 91.6% and the correct identification of monozygotic twin pair’s voice as two different speakers was 80.27%. This shows that there was difficulty in perceptually distinguishing the voices of monozygotic twins as that of two different speakers but the listeners’ sensitivity to twin differences was greater than chance . Acoustic analysis showed that shimmer values are more sensitive in discriminating twin voices among each other. This investigation can contribute to automatic speaker recognition as well as the field of forensic phonetics, especially forensic speaker identification.Key words: voice parameters, voice , identical twinsKey message: Differentiating the voice of monozygotic twins while listening to their voice is difficult but can be done at greater than chance level. Acoustically also the voice parameters are more alike. Shimmer values were found to be different significantly among the twin pairs studied.
Malware Detection Using Dynamic Analysis
In this research, we explore the field of dynamic analysis which has shown promis- ing results in the field of malware detection. Here, we extract dynamic software birth- marks during malware execution and apply machine learning based detection tech- niques to the resulting feature set. Specifically, we consider Hidden Markov Models and Profile Hidden Markov Models. To determine the effectiveness of this dynamic analysis approach, we compare our detection results to the results obtained by using static analysis. We show that in some cases, significantly stronger results can be obtained using our dynamic approach
A VLSI Array Architecture for Realization of DFT, DHT, DCT and DST
A unified array architecture is described for computation of DFT, DHT, DCT and DST using a modified CORDIC (CoOrdinate Rotation DIgital Computer) arithmetic unit as the basic Processing Element (PE). All these four transforms can be computed by simple rearrangement of input samples. Compared to five other existing architectures, this one has the advantage in speed in terms of latency and throughput. Moreover, the simple local neighborhood interprocessor connections make it convenient for VLSI implementation. The architecture can be extended to compute transformation of longer length by judicially cascading the modules of shorter transformation length which will be suitable for Wafer Scale Integration (WSI). CORDIC is designed using Transmission Gate Logic (TGL) on sea of gates semicustom environment. Simulation results show that this architecture may be a suitable candidate for low power/low voltage applications
University Library Websites in Kerala: An Analysis (Web Survey)
The article is an analysis of library websites or web
pages of the universities in Kerala. Factors like
speed, size, downloading time, facilities for
information services etc. have been analyzed. The
survey was conducted during the period from 14-01-
2013 to 19-01-2013. The study reveals that though
the websites provide lot of useful information to the
users, further improvement both in contents and
management of it is needed in most of the library
websites. The study also provided insight to judge the
quality of the library websites and information
services provided through them
Three-Point Functions of Non-Unitary Minimal Matter Coupled to Gravity
The tree-level three-point correlation functions of local operators in the
general minimal models coupled to gravity are calculated in the
continuum approach. On one hand, the result agrees with the unitary series
(); and on the other hand, for , we find agreement with the
one-matrix model results.Comment: 14 page
