Research and implementation of motorcycle simulator controls

    Get PDF
The paper is focused on research in the field of motorcycle simulator controls from the rider’s point of view, with a focus on the longitudinal and lateral dynamics of vehicle. The subject of the research is the design and testing of a suitable composition of input signals controlled by the rider and their integration into the virtual scene. The design and testing of the communication interface between the HW simulator and the physical model of the motorcycle is mentioned in the paper as well. Furthermore, the work describes the suitable HMI elements of the motorcycle and their integration options into the simulator system. In conclusion of the article, various variants, and approaches for controlling the developed motorcycle simulator are discussed, including the possibilities of validating the achieved results

/GD-TRACKER/ A SOFTWARE FOR BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER PERMEABILITY ASSESSMENT

Epilepsy is chronic neurological disease characterized by occurrence of spontaneous recurrent seizures affecting approximately 1% of people. One of the most common causes of epilepsy in adults is a stroke. The precise mechanism of development of vascular epilepsy is not known, and thus no reliable biomarker of postischemic epileptogenesis currently exists. Blood-brain barrier (BBB) impairment is phenomenon observed in several pathologies including stroke after which epilepsy often develops. Blood components such as albumin or thrombin have been experimentally shown to possess the capacity to increase excitability which results in seizures and epileptogenesis. We hypothesize that severity of the BBB breakdown during first weeks after the stroke can be used as a biomarker of postischemic epileptogenesis. This paper describes free MATLAB based software /Gd-Tracker/ and methodology developed for assessment of BBB permeability from magnetic resonance (MR) scans based on statistical voxel to voxel comparison of sequences with and without Gd-DTPA contrast. This software allows to evaluate extent and magnitude of impaired BBB region and thus serve as a tool for visualization and quantification of BBB breakdown

The Feasibility of Fuzzy Sets Utilization in Quantifying the Results of Company Self-evaluation in Accordance With the EFQM Excellence Model

    No full text
This paper elaborates on the possibility of utilizing fuzzy set methods in order to quantify the results of company self-evaluation in accordance with the EFQM model criteria. The general aim is to modify the self-evaluation method from the EFQM model with statistical utilization of fuzzy set methods in order to improve the aggregation of the indicators (criteria) and evaluate the self-evaluation results

Validation of a longitudinal motorcycle riding dynamic model for a powered two-wheeler interactive simulator

    No full text
Engine or battery powered two-wheeled vehicles are an essential part of a transport system. Its users are however more vulnerable in comparison with personal vehicles. In general, compared to four-wheel vehicles even a small percentage of accidents that include motorcycles causes a significant rate of all fatalities in the Czech Republic. Two-wheelers nowadays face the challenge of electric propulsion and wider user adoption. This fact emphasizes the need to assess rider´s behaviour. One way of examination of rider´s behaviour in safe and scientific environments is an interactive vehicle simulator. In order to develop a complex semi-active motorcycle simulator, a virtual model in Unity platform was created. The main purpose of this paper is to verify the longitudinal dynamics of the physical model for emerging interactive simulator. To achieve this goal, crucial parameters of the model were set. For validation of the model we defined several riding scenarios. Based on the data measured during a track test experiment in a real environment, model parameters further needed were indirectly defined. The results show that the output of the longitudinal dynamics model closely correlates with the real data gathered on a track

Application of the Customer Value Concept for Measurement and Value Chain Processes Management

    No full text
The essence of the customer value concept is the product (object). These objects are the holders of the functions that satisfy customer needs as well as experience in co-creation process with customers. Searching for unique value with the customer is limited by claims on resources (total cost) necessary to achieve the desired degree of satisfying (degree of saturation) customer needs. Firms' value-chain is understood as a set of value adding functions that constitute the specific processes (activities) needed to realize the production of certain products. Every business entity transforms input factors into final products or services, using its value creation functions that are the essential parts of value chain. Profitable enterprise must have lower costs than competitors or must produce in such a way that leads to firms' differentiation from competitors. This means that it must have specific strengths in one or more value creation functions. The aim of the firm is to make such products that meet the needs of customers at the highest possible level and thereby maximize their profits. This entails the need of firm to cooperate with its customers in each process of manufacturing the final product and thus positively influencing (maximizing) the final effect in meeting customers' needs. In connection with the EFQM excellence model and its possibilities for experience rate measurement in the value co-creation, we have to stress the Results, approach, deployment, assessment and review methodology (RADAR). The paper focuses on the ability to apply the main ideas of the customer value concept for measurement and value chain management. Detail focus is addressed to the issue of identification, definition, evaluation and management of unique value co-creation with customers throughout the all value chain processes. The goal of this paper is to propose a specific application of the customer value concept for measurement and value chain management
