Knowledge About Student's Understanding and the Effect on Instructional Strategies: a Case on Two Novice Mathematics Teachers

Pedagogical content knowledge is a key role the success of teachers learning in classroom. This study aims to: 1) analyze teacher's knowledge of students' mistakes and difficulties in solving linear equations, 2) describe the instructional strategies used by teachers to eliminate students' mistakes and difficulties. The subjects of this study were two novice teachers with two-year working period, each of whom taught at the seventh grade junior high school with different students' math abilities. Data collection is conducted by open questionnaire and interview. The results showed that both teachers have knowledge of students' mistakes and difficulties in solving linear equations. However, the teacher's learning strategy in helping students to eliminate students' errors and difficulties is different. Thus it can be concluded that the teacher's knowledge of the errors and difficulties students can help teachers in determining appropriate learning strategies to present learning materials

The aim of this study is to create understanding profiles of elementary school teachers who have been and have not been following the workshop PMRI, before and after they learned the learning resource about philosophy, principles, and characteristics of realistic mathematics approach. This type of research used in this study is a combination of qualitative research and developmental research. The results shown in this paper is the understanding profile of onesubject who is an elementary school teacher. Research subjects involved in the trial for the first task, the learning resource, and second task are six persons, which consists of three PGSD students who are working on the final project, and three elementary school teachers

The dynamics of shoreline change analysis based on the integration of remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) techniques in Pekalongan coastal area, Central Java, Indonesia

Coastal areas are found in the dynamic zone at the interface between the three major natural systems of the Earth's surface. The phenomenon of shoreline change is one of the most frequent problems encountered in the coastal environment and is caused by natural processes that result in dynamic changes in the coastal area. Coastal area change can affect the vulnerability of the coastal environment and its properties, such as shoreline stabilization, flood control, sediment retention, natural protection and others. The method of integrating remote sensing data with geographic information system (GIS) techniques has been widely used to monitor and analyze the dynamics of shoreline change in coastal areas. The purpose of this study is to map and analyze the dynamics of shoreline change from 1978 to 2017 in the study area. An approach combining spectral value index and visual interpretation of Landsat images was used and proposed to indicate the separation of land and water bodies, for shoreline extraction. The normalized difference water index (NDWI) can be used as a spectral value index approach for differentiating land and water bodies. Furthermore, the analysis of shoreline changes was performed using the digital shoreline analysis system (DSAS). Based on calculations made using DSAS, it can be seen that the pattern of coastline change tends to be dominated by offshore erosion. The results of this study may also be important as input data for coastal hazard assessment as part of the effort to overcome the problem of flood tides

Purpose: This research is conducted to understand the effect of E-WOM and brand image on purchase intention of halal cosmetics which are sold online through Instagram.Methodology: This research is quantitative research. The data used in this research is primary data which is collected using a questionnaire. The sampling technique is purposive sampling with 93 research samples.Findings: This research shows that the purchase intention of halal cosmetics through Instagram is simultaneously influenced by E-WOM and brand image. This finding support previous researches related to the effect of E-WOM and brand image on purchase intention.Originality/Value: This research is a replication-based model and is adapted from published research. The originality in this research is in the context of object and location. Various halal cosmetics that are being sold online through Instagram are the main focus to be researched on. This main focus has not been being researched beforehand
