    Investigation of relationship between structural and mechanical properties of woven fabrics and fabric draping

    Bu tez çalışması kapsamında, dokuma kumaşların kullanımında ve işlevselliğinde önemli rol oynayan dökümlülük özelliği ile yapısal ve mekanik özellikleri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, üç farklı atkı sıklığında, üç farklı atkı ipliği numarasında ve üç farklı örgü yapısında %100 poliester ipliklerden üretilen dokuma kumaşların sıklık, gramaj, kalınlık, dökümlülük katsayısı, eğilme dayanımı, aşınma dayanımı, kopma mukavemeti ve uzaması özellikleri test edilmiştir. Ölçümü yapılan yapısal ve mekanik özelliklerin dökümlülüğe olan etkisi deneysel olarak araştırılmış ve istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, dökümlülük ile mekanik özelliklerden aşınma, eğilme dayanımının ve kopma mukavemetinin dökümlülüğü etkilediği gözlenmiştir. Kumaşın yapısal özelliklerinden atkı sıklığı, örgü tipi ve atkı iplik numarasının dökümlülük katsayısını etkilediği, kumaş kalınlığının dökümlülük üzerinde çok zayıf düzeyde bir etkiye sahip olduğu, kumaş gramajının ise dökümlülük üzerinde orta düzeyde bir etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür.In this thesis, it is investigated how the structural and mechanical properties of fabrics affect the drapability which plays an important role in the usage and functionality of the fabrics. This study will contribute to the literature since it is made by producing controlled 100% Polyester woven fabrics, and also it is seen that the relationship between the abrasion resistance and drapability of the mechanical properties examined in the study is limited. In addition, it will contribute to the number of researches in the literature on the structural and mechanical properties of the drapability, which focuses more on measuring systems. According to the results obtained from the study, it has been observed that abrasion, bending rigidity and breaking strength from mechanical properties affect the draping. The structural properties of the fabric are very effective in conditioning the thickness of the weft, in which the weft density, weave type and weft yarn number affect the draping coefficient.Küçükçalık Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş

    Characterization of sulfate reducing bacteria isolated from cooling towers

    In this study, the occurrence and metabolic capacities of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) were studied in 36 water samples taken from cooling towers of 30 different buildings, such as hotels and business centres in Istanbul. SRB were present in 14 cooling towers out of 30 (46.6%) buildings and while the lowest concentration of SRB was 10 cells/mL, the highest concentration was determined as 104 cells/mL. After the distribution of SRB within cooling towers was determined, several strains of SRB were isolated and characterized metabolically. The isolated strains were composed of vibroid cells, growing anaerobically by using sulfate as electron acceptor and lactate or pyruvate as electron donor. They could be related to the genus Desulfovibrio. In addition, the recorded temperature of water samples was between 12 and 33 ° C and a significant relationship between the number of SRB and the water temperatures was not found
