Pairing Symmetry in the Anisotropic Fermi Superfluid under p-wave Feshbach Resonance
The anisotropic Fermi superfluid of ultra-cold Fermi atoms under the p-wave
Feshbach resonance is studied theoretically. The pairing symmetry of the ground
state is determined by the strength of the atom-atom magnetic dipole
interaction. It is for a strong dipole interaction; while it becomes , up to a rotation about z, for a weak one (Here < 1 is a
numerical coefficient). By changing the external magnetic field or the atomic
gas density, a phase transition between these two states can be driven. We
discuss how the pairing symmetry of the ground state can be determined in the
time-of-flight experiments.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure
Robust nodal superconductivity induced by isovalent doping in Ba(FeRu)As and BaFe(AsP)
We present the ultra-low-temperature heat transport study of iron-based
superconductors Ba(FeRu)As and
BaFe(AsP). For optimally doped
Ba(FeRu)As, a large residual linear term
at zero field and a dependence of are observed,
which provide strong evidences for nodes in the superconducting gap. This
result demonstrates that the isovalent Ru doping can also induce nodal
superconductivity, as P does in BaFe(AsP).
Furthermore, in underdoped Ba(FeRu)As and heavily
underdoped BaFe(AsP), manifests similar
nodal behavior, which shows the robustness of nodal superconductivity in the
underdoped regime and puts constraint on theoretical models.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures - with two underdoped samples added, this paper

Charged particle display
An optical shutter based on charged particles is presented. The output light
intensity of the proposed device has an intrinsic dependence on the
interparticle spacing between charged particles, which can be controlled by
varying voltages applied to the control electrodes. The interparticle spacing
between charged particles can be varied continuously and this opens up the
possibility of particle based displays with continuous grayscale.Comment: typographic errors corrected in Eqs (37) and (39); published in

Actor-Critic Sequence Training for Image Captioning.
Generating natural language descriptions of images is an important capability
for a robot or other visual-intelligence driven AI agent that may need to
communicate with human users about what it is seeing. Such image captioning
methods are typically trained by maximising the likelihood of ground-truth
annotated caption given the image. While simple and easy to implement, this
approach does not directly maximise the language quality metrics we care about
such as CIDEr. In this paper we investigate training image captioning methods
based on actor-critic reinforcement learning in order to directly optimise
non-differentiable quality metrics of interest. By formulating a per-token
advantage and value computation strategy in this novel reinforcement learning
based captioning model, we show that it is possible to achieve the state of the
art performance on the widely used MSCOCO benchmark
{BOAO Photometric Survey of Galactic Open Clusters. II. Physical Parameters of 12 Open Clusters
We have initiated a long-term project, the BOAO photometric survey of open
clusters, to enlarge our understanding of galactic structure using UBVI CCD
photometry of open clusters which have been little studied before. This is the
second paper of the project in which we present the photometry of 12 open
clusters. We have determined the cluster parameters by fitting the Padova
isochrones to the color-magnitude diagrams of the clusters. All the clusters
except for Be 0 and NGC 1348 are found to be intermediate-age to old (0.2 - 4.0
Gyrs) open clusters with a mean metallicity of [Fe/H] = 0.0.Comment: 11 page
A Spectral Line Survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHZ toward Orion-KL
We present the results of a spectral line survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz
toward Orion-KL. The observations were made using the 14 m radio telescope of
Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. Typical system temperatures were between
500 and 700 K, with the sensitivity between K in units of .
A total of 149 line spectra are detected in this survey. Fifty lines have
been previously reported, however we find 99 new detections. Among these new
lines, 32 are `unidentified', while 67 are from molecular transitions with
known identifications. There is no detection of H or He recombination lines.
The identified spectra are from a total of 16 molecular species and their
isotopic variants. In the range from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz, the strongest spectral
line is the J=3-2 transition of CS molecule, followed by transitions of the
, , , and . Spectral lines from
the large organic molecules such as , , , and are prominent; with 80 % of the
identified lines arising from transitions of these molecules. The rotational
temperatures and column densities are derived using the standard rotation
diagram analysis for (), , and with and . These estimates are fairly comparable to the values for the
same molecule in other frequency regions by other studies.Comment: 10 figures, 2 tex files for a manuscript and tables, accepted to Ap
Stable reduction of CCR5 by RNAi through hematopoietic stem cell transplant in non-human primates
RNAi is a powerful method for suppressing gene expression that has tremendous potential for therapeutic applications. However, because endogenous RNAi plays a role in normal cellular functions, delivery and expression of siRNAs must be balanced with safety. Here we report successful stable expression in primates of siRNAs directed to chemokine (c-c motif) receptor 5 (CCR5) introduced through CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell transplant. After hematopoietic reconstitution, to date 14 months after transplant, we observe stably marked lymphocytes expressing siRNAs and consistent down-regulation of chemokine (c-c motif) receptor 5 expression. The marked cells are less susceptible to simian immunodeficiency virus infection ex vivo. These studies provide a successful demonstration that siRNAs can be used together with hematopoietic stem cell transplant to stably modulate gene expression in primates and potentially treat blood diseases such as HIV-1
Renminbi Internationalisation: Precedents and Implications
While it is commonly assumed that there are no known precedents against which to benchmark the internationalisation of the Renminbi (RMB), this paper argues that the PRCs own development experience provides a useful perspective on the internationalisation debate. In particular it indicates that lessons can be learnt from both the successes and the shortcomings of efforts to internationalise the RMB in the 1970s. During this period state-owned banks in Hong Kong played a central role in mobilising finance for foreign trade. Access to Hong Kong’s developed financial institutions allowed the PRC to maximise receipts from foreign trade as well as minimise the risks of undue swings in capital flows. The paper shows that although China no longer faces foreign exchange scarcity, economic reforms have not yet resolved vulnerabilities in China’s financial institutions and as such Hong Kong’s role in mitigating the risk of undue capital swings remains
