Realizing quantum controlled phase-flip gate through quantum dot in silicon slow-light photonic crystal waveguide
We propose a scheme to realize controlled phase gate between two single
photons through a single quantum dot in slow-light silicon photonic crystal
waveguide. Enhanced Purcell factor and beta factor lead to high gate fidelity
over broadband frequencies compared to cavity-assisted system. The excellent
physical integration of this silicon photonic crystal waveguide system provides
tremendous potential for large-scale quantum information processing.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
The Tensor Current Divergence Equation in U(1) Gauge Theories is Free of Anomalies
The possible anomaly of the tensor current divergence equation in U(1) gauge
theories is calculated by means of perturbative method. It is found that the
tensor current divergence equation is free of anomalies.Comment: Revtex4, 7 pages, 2 figure
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder in three generations of a Chinese family
© 2019 Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder is an inflammatory demyelinating disease that is largely sporadic. Familial disease has been reported in one or two generations, although its basis remains unknown. We report here three subjects meeting diagnostic criteria for NMOSD in one family: a father and son, and the maternal aunt of the father. Anticipation, of 27 years, was apparent in transmission from father to son. Aquaporin-4 antibodies were observed in the aunt but not the father and son, nor in other family members. A putative pathogenic mutation in the NECL2 gene was not found in this pedigree. This first report of NMOSD in three generations of one family underlines the heterogeneity of familial NMOSD
Characterization of a broad-based mosquito yeast interfering RNA larvicide with a conserved target site in mosquito semaphorin-1a genes
BACKGROUND:
RNA interference (RNAi), which has facilitated functional characterization of mosquito neural development genes such as the axon guidance regulator semaphorin-1a (sema1a), could one day be applied as a new means of vector control. Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's yeast) may represent an effective interfering RNA expression system that could be used directly for delivery of RNA pesticides to mosquito larvae. Here we describe characterization of a yeast larvicide developed through bioengineering of S. cerevisiae to express a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting a conserved site in mosquito sema1a genes.
RESULTS:
Experiments conducted on Aedes aegypti larvae demonstrated that the yeast larvicide effectively silences sema1a expression, generates severe neural defects, and induces high levels of larval mortality in laboratory, simulated-field, and semi-field experiments. The larvicide was also found to induce high levels of Aedes albopictus, Anopheles gambiae and Culex quinquefasciatus mortality.
CONCLUSIONS:
The results of these studies indicate that use of yeast interfering RNA larvicides targeting mosquito sema1a genes may represent a new biorational tool for mosquito control
High order quantum decoherence via multi-particle amplitude for boson system
In this paper we depict the high order quantum coherence of a boson system by
using the multi-particle wave amplitude, whose norm square is just the high
order correlation function. This multi-time amplitude can be shown to be a
superposition of several "multi-particle paths". When the environment or a
apparatus entangles with them to form a generalized "which-way" measurement for
many particle system, the quantum decoherence happens in the high order case
dynamically. An explicit illustration is also given with an intracavity system
of two modes interacting with a moving mirror.Comment: 7 pages, revtex, 4 eps figure
