High cycle fatigue and ratcheting interaction of laser powder bed fusion stainless steel 316L:Fracture behaviour and stress-based modelling
Variations in the physical and mechanical properties of parts made by laser power bed fusion (L-PBF) could be affected by the choice of processing or post-processing strategies. This work examined the influence of build orientation and post-processing treatments (annealing or hot isostatic pressing) on the fatigue and fracture behaviours of L-PBF stainless steel 316L in the high cycle fatigue region, i.e. 104 – 106 cycles. Experimental results show that both factors introduce significant changes in the plastic deformation properties, which affect fatigue strength via the mechanism of fatigue-ratcheting interaction. Cyclic plasticity is characterised by hardening, which promotes mean stress insensitivity and improved fatigue resistance. Fatigue activities, involving the initiation of crack at defects and microstructural heterogeneities, are of greater relevance to the longer life region where the global deformation mode is elastic. As the simultaneous actions of ratcheting and fatigue generate complex nonlinear interactions between the alternating stress amplitude and mean stress, the fatigue properties could not be effectively predicted using traditional stress-based models. A modification to the Goodman relation was proposed to account for the added effects of cyclic plasticity and was demonstrated to produce good agreement with experimental results for both cyclic hardening and softening materials.EDB (Economic Devt. CofeNet: Context and Former-Label Enhanced Net for Complicated Quotation Extraction
Quotation extraction aims to extract quotations from written text. There are
three components in a quotation: source refers to the holder of the quotation,
cue is the trigger word(s), and content is the main body. Existing solutions
for quotation extraction mainly utilize rule-based approaches and sequence
labeling models. While rule-based approaches often lead to low recalls,
sequence labeling models cannot well handle quotations with complicated
structures. In this paper, we propose the Context and Former-Label Enhanced Net
(CofeNet) for quotation extraction. CofeNet is able to extract complicated
quotations with components of variable lengths and complicated structures. On
two public datasets (i.e., PolNeAR and Riqua) and one proprietary dataset
(i.e., PoliticsZH), we show that our CofeNet achieves state-of-the-art
performance on complicated quotation extraction.Comment: Accepted by COLING 202
Information Dissemination Model Based on User Attitude and Public Opinion Environment
Modeling the information dissemination process in social networks is a
challenging problem. Despite numerous attempts to address this issue, existing
studies often assume that user attitudes have only one opportunity to alter
during the information dissemination process. Additionally, these studies tend
to consider the transformation of user attitudes as solely influenced by a
single user, overlooking the dynamic and evolving nature of user attitudes and
the impact of the public opinion environment. In this paper, we propose a novel
model, UAPE, which considers the influence of the aforementioned factors on the
information dissemination process. Specifically, UAPE regards the user's
attitude towards the topic as dynamically changing, with the change jointly
affected by multiple users simultaneously. Furthermore, the joint influence of
multiple users can be considered as the impact of the public opinion
environment. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the model achieves
an accuracy range of 91.62% to 94.01%, surpassing the performance of existing
research
DiaquaÂ[5,5′-dicarbÂoxy-2,2′-(propane-1,3-diÂyl)bisÂ(1H-imidazole-4-carboxylÂato)]manganese(II)
The complex molÂecule of the title compound, [Mn(C13H10N4O8)(H2O)2] or [Mn(H4pbidc)(H2O)2] (H6pbidc = 2,2′-(propane-1,3-diÂyl)bisÂ(1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarbÂoxyÂlic acid), has 2 symmetry with the twofold rotation axis running through the Mn2+ cation and the central C atom of the propanediyl unit. The cation is six-coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from one H4pbidc2− anion and two water O atoms in a considerably distorted octaÂhedral coordination. In the crystal, adjacent molÂecules are linked through O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network
Fatigue and Fracture Behaviour of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Stainless Steel 316L: Influence of Processing Parameters
The laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) process involves a large number of processing parameters. Extending the intricate relationship between processing and structure to mechanical performance is essential for structural L-PBF materials. The high cycle fatigue properties of L-PBF parts are very sensitive to process-induced porosities which promote premature failure through the crack initiation mechanisms. Results from this work show that for stainless steel 316L, porosity does not impinge on the high cycle fatigue properties when processing is kept within a ±30% tolerance band. In this ‘optimum’ processing region, crack initiation takes place due to defects at the solidification microstructure level. Beyond the ‘optimum’ processing region, over-melting and under-melting can lead to porosity-driven cracking and inferior fatigue resistance. In addition, regardless of the processing condition, fatigue resistance was found to follow a direct linear relationship with ductility and tensile strength in the low and high stress fatigue regimes respectively.Economic Development Board (EDB)Accepted versionThis work was supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP)
Artificial Intelligence based Building Attributes Enrichment in OpenStreetMap using Street-view Images
This work aims to improve OSM building attributes using street-view images. As OSM data are open and street-level
photos can be taken with standard cell phones, our approach is neither geospatially restricted nor economically
discriminated. In addition, crowdsourced platforms, such as Flickr, Unsplash, and Mapillary, provide huge amounts of
street-view images that contain valuable building attribute information. We seek to facilitate open data and citizen science
and encourage people to map for their communities
