The geological structure and constituents of aquifer and chemical composition of the groundwater of Nishinomiya city, Kinki, Japan were investigated. The Miyamizu, a brewing water of the city has long been known as a most suitable water for brewing purpose of japanese Sake. The district is composed of Alluvial sediments and the aquifer of the district is restricted to the Alluvial sediments which can be divided into several zones according to its permeability. The Miyamizu aquifer corresponds to the first aquifer (higher than 5 X10-2 cm/sec) and with increasing the depth, permeability decreases gradually. The basement of the sediments is consisted of the aquiclude with permeability smaller than 5 X 10-4 cm/sec. Based on the analysis of the groundwater levels, it is clarified that the groundwater flowing into the Miyamizu aquifer comes from several underflows of the old rivers, and each old river has its own chemical characteristics. Chemical composition of the Miyamizu is characterized by high contents of phosphorous, potassium and calcium and very low content of iron. Variation of the chemical composition of the Miyamizu for long years, seasonal and monthly variations are clarified. Concerning the formation process of the chemical characteristic of the Miyamizu; it is concluded that the present composition is formed under the great influence of Paleo-environment of about 1,000 years ago, i.e., so-called the Jōmon transgression, especially in relation to the development of shallow sea

The molecular cloning and characterisation of cDNA coding for the alpha subunit of the acetylcholine receptor

The published version of this article is available at Oxford Journals in Nucleic Acids Research at http://nar.oxfordjournals.org/content/10/19/5809.full.pdf+htmlA rare cDNA coding for most of the α subunit of the Torpedo nicotinic acetylcholine receptor has been cloned into bacteria. The use of a mismatched oligonucleotide primer of reverse transcriptase facilitated the design of an efficient, specific probe for recombinant bacteria. DNA sequence analysis has enabled the elucidation of a large part of the polypeptide primary sequence which is discussed in relation to its acetylcholine binding activity and the location of receptor within the plasma membrane. When used as a radioactive probe, the cloned cDNA binds specifically to a single Torpedo mRNA species of about 2350 nucleotides in length but fails to show significant cross-hybridisation with a subunit mRNA extracted from cat muscle

The purpose of this study was elucidating the characteristic of Koichi Nomura's music criticism and influence on audience (people who accept classical music). Koichi Nomura was a music critic in period of Taisho and Showa era. A part of his criticism appeared in Tokyo Nichinichi Shinbun and Mainichi Shinbun from 1926 to 1943 and those were completed in 20 years of music in criticism (Hihyo-kara-mitaongaku-nijunen ). Analyzing his musical review in this book, it was appeared that his music criticisms had following two characteristics: (1) a viewpoint of his music criticism was conformed with characteristics of musical instruments and playing style, (2) he criticized foreign performer who visited to Japan regarding as a paragon (ideal model) and Japanese performer regarding as a target of encouragement. Findings indicated that his music criticism had an effective on not only developing skills of Japanese performers but also refining large audience's sense of values
