Blind Two-Dimensional Super-Resolution and Its Performance Guarantee
In this work, we study the problem of identifying the parameters of a linear
system from its response to multiple unknown input waveforms. We assume that
the system response, which is the only given information, is a scaled
superposition of time-delayed and frequency-shifted versions of the unknown
waveforms. Such kind of problem is severely ill-posed and does not yield a
unique solution without introducing further constraints. To fully characterize
the linear system, we assume that the unknown waveforms lie in a common known
low-dimensional subspace that satisfies certain randomness and concentration
properties. Then, we develop a blind two-dimensional (2D) super-resolution
framework that applies to a large number of applications such as radar imaging,
image restoration, and indoor source localization. In this framework, we show
that under a minimum separation condition between the time-frequency shifts,
all the unknowns that characterize the linear system can be recovered precisely
and with very high probability provided that a lower bound on the total number
of the observed samples is satisfied. The proposed framework is based on 2D
atomic norm minimization problem which is shown to be reformulated and solved
efficiently via semidefinite programming. Simulation results that confirm the
theoretical findings of the paper are provided
Mathematical Theory of Atomic Norm Denoising In Blind Two-Dimensional Super-Resolution (Extended Version)
This paper develops a new mathematical framework for denoising in blind
two-dimensional (2D) super-resolution upon using the atomic norm. The framework
denoises a signal that consists of a weighted sum of an unknown number of
time-delayed and frequency-shifted unknown waveforms from its noisy
measurements. Moreover, the framework also provides an approach for estimating
the unknown parameters in the signal. We prove that when the number of the
observed samples satisfies certain lower bound that is a function of the system
parameters, we can estimate the noise-free signal, with very high accuracy,
upon solving a regularized least-squares atomic norm minimization problem. We
derive the theoretical mean-squared error of the estimator, and we show that it
depends on the noise variance, the number of unknown waveforms, the number of
samples, and the dimension of the low-dimensional space where the unknown
waveforms lie. Finally, we verify the theoretical findings of the paper by
using extensive simulation experiments.Comment: 19 page
Effects of nitrogen source and effective micro-organisms on vegetative growth of shrubs of selected grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf) cultivars
Grapefruit (Citrus Paradisi Macf.) is one of the most important citrus fruits in the Sudan. It can be successfully grown throughout the country where there are suitable soils and sufficient water to sustain tree growth. The objectives of this study were to find out the effects of different nitrogen sources, effective microorganisms (EM) and their combinations on the vegetative growth of shrubs of selected grapefruit cultivars. A field experiment was carried out at Umbarona, Wad Medani, Gezira State, Sudan, latitude 14.38 N, longitude 33.48 E and altitude 409 masl, in June 2012. Treatments consisted of three grapefruit cultivars: Marsh Seedless, Red Blush and Shamber. Fertilizer treatments were urea (100%), chicken manure (100%), urea with chicken manure (50% each), urea with EM, chicken manure with EM, urea (50%)+ chicken manure (50%)+ EM and unfertilized control. All fertilizer treatments were applied at the rate of 43 kg N/ha. Treatments were arranged in a split- plot design with two replicates. Grapefruit cultivars were allotted to the main plots and fertilizer treatments to the sub-plots. Data were collected on plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm), number of new branches, length of new branches (cm) and diameter of new branches (cm). Results showed that Marsh Seedless cultivar had the most vigorous vegetative growth compared to the other two cultivars. The results showed that the combination of urea, chicken manure and EM significantly gave the highest vegetative growth values, followed by chicken manure with EM, urea with chicken manure, urea with EM, urea alone, chicken manure alone and the least values of growth parameters were recorded for the unfertilized control. It is recommended to grow Marsh Seedless grapefruit cultivar and fertilize it with a combination of urea, chicken manure and EM.

Unsupervised Multimodal Surface Registration with Geometric Deep Learning
This paper introduces GeoMorph, a novel geometric deep-learning framework
designed for image registration of cortical surfaces. The registration process
consists of two main steps. First, independent feature extraction is performed
on each input surface using graph convolutions, generating low-dimensional
feature representations that capture important cortical surface
characteristics. Subsequently, features are registered in a deep-discrete
manner to optimize the overlap of common structures across surfaces by learning
displacements of a set of control points. To ensure smooth and biologically
plausible deformations, we implement regularization through a deep conditional
random field implemented with a recurrent neural network. Experimental results
demonstrate that GeoMorph surpasses existing deep-learning methods by achieving
improved alignment with smoother deformations. Furthermore, GeoMorph exhibits
competitive performance compared to classical frameworks. Such versatility and
robustness suggest strong potential for various neuroscience applications
IL-33 stimulates expression of the GPR84 (EX33) fatty acid receptor gene and of cytokine and chemokine genes in human adipocytes
Expression of GPCR fatty acid sensor/receptor genes in adipocytes is modulated by inflammatory mediators, particularly IL-1β. In this study we examined whether the IL-1 gene superfamily member, IL-33, also regulates expression of the fatty acid receptor genes in adipocytes. Human fat cells, differentiated from preadipocytes, were incubated with IL-33 at three different dose levels for 3 or 24 h and mRNA measured by qPCR. Treatment with IL-33 induced a dose-dependent increase in GPR84 mRNA at 3 h, the level with the highest dose being 13.7-fold greater than in controls. Stimulation of GPR84 expression was transitory; the mRNA level was not elevated at 24 h. In contrast to GPR84, IL-33 had no effect on GPR120 expression. IL-33 markedly stimulated expression of the IL1B, CCL2, IL6, CXCL2 and CSF3 genes, but there was no effect on ADIPOQ expression. The largest effect was on CSF3, the mRNA level of which increased 183-fold over controls at 3 h with the highest dose of IL-33; there was a parallel increase in the secretion of G-CSF protein into the medium. It is concluded
that in human adipocytes IL-33, which is synthesised in adipose tissue, has a strong stimulatory effect on the expression of cytokine and chemokine genes, particularly CSF3, and on the expression of GPR84, a pro-inflammatory fatty acid receptor
Strategic Creativity in Islamic Banks in Palestine between Reality and Implementation
It aimed to identify the strategic creativity in Islamic banks in Palestine between reality and implementation. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. A questionnaire was designed as a tool for the study. The study community consisted of all employees in Islamic banks from the top and middle management and the study has been applied to the Palestinian Islamic bank and the Arab Islamic Bank. The comprehensive inventory method was used, given the small size of the study sample, as questionnaires were distributed to (175) employees, and a number of (5) categories were chosen from each branch of the bank(general manager, deputy general manager, director Branch, department head, department manager). (164) questionnaires have been used Recovered with a recovery rate of (93.71%). The study showed a number of results, the most important of which is the availability of dimensions of strategic innovation at a high level in Islamic banks in Palestine with a relative weight of (82.22%). In addition, that there are no differences between the averages estimates about the reality of the study variables in Islamic banks due to (gender, age group, educational qualification, number of years of service, job title). The study also presented a set of recommendations, including that the bank should provide the environment and the appropriate climate for employees to invest their intellectual energy, urge them to strategic creativity, and deal fairly with all creative ideas regardless of their source
Production of Polysaccharides (Xanthan gum) by Xanthomonas campestris pv. Sesame
Many microorganisms and plants were found produce polysaccharides which are widely varying in their composition and structure. The extracellular polysaccharide produced by Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris, is chemically analyzed and used industrially. However, only the xanthan gum which was ranking as the best among the ten polysaccharides was used commercially in large amounts. The xanthan gum has numerous applications in food and other industries. The present study was aiming to investigate the capacity of X; campestris pv. sesami for the production of xanthan gum, using culture media containing different carbon sources. The properties of the produced material were investigated (pH, viscosity, and chromatographic analysis using thin layer chromatography). The results showed that the weight of the product was increasing with time reaching about 9.8g at the tenth day compared to only 2.1g on the second day. The results of the effect of different carbon sources indicated that sucrose was the best giving 9.0 g in the 7th day compared to only 1.5g by raffinose. The pH was changing from 6.7 at the beginning of the experiment to 4.2 in the tenth day. However, the viscosity of the inoculated sucrose medium was found to increase from 2.4 unit at the second day to 9.7 units after ten days. Analysis on paper chromatography showed that the produced polysaccharide contains mannose, glucuronic acid, glucose, rhamnose but no ribose nor trehalose or fructose were detected. The results indicated that the investigated bacterium was producing large amounts of xanthan gum. Although, Xanthan gum was discovered in 1950s its substantial commercial production began in 1964 and in 1969, the USA, Food and Drug Administration authorized its use in food. Xanthan gum, now has numerous uses in food and other industries. Further studies should be carried on other isolates of the bacterium X. campestris pv. sesami and more chemical analysis are needed
