    In the rural Pasuruan of East Java there is Rembang society who has a unique culture. Women don’t have a good role as human being comparing with men. The prob-lem is how to change that culture and help Rembang women to have the same position or role as men in the society (gender equity). This research is categorized a social histo-ry. The data of this research will be collected depth interview method and participant observation. The analysis process uses the cultural domain analysis.The research result that kind of marriage regards as an illegal marriage in Indonesia marriage law but legal in Islamic marriage law. Although, it contains of gender inequity idea it is still conducted by Rembang society. In this marriage, the men easily take advantages from the weak position of their wives to divorce them any time they like. The women won’t be able to stop his cruelty and they won’t have the same right in having their wealth and have to take care their children

    Konflik Tanah Surat Ijo di Surabaya (Sebuah Perspektif Teoretik-Resolutif)

    The control/ownership of land in Surabaya is marked by the unique phenomenon of surat ijo; many residents in the municipalities life on state land. Entering Reform Ere (1999), most of the occupants were no longer abide to the existing regulations. Furthermore, solidarity within community of “tanah surat ijo” arises, and has led them to establish their own mass organization and fight for hak milik (HM, land ownership rights) over the land they occupy. It is thus unsurprising that conflict of interest has occurred between the two. Various efforts to resolve this conflict have been undertaken, including mediation and a civil suit, but these have been unsuccessful to date. Similarly, the enactment of Peraturan Daerah No. 16 Tahun 2014 (Surabaya Municipal By law No. 16 of 2014) was unable to resolve the conflict. This paper attempts to under-stand and explain the context of land control, ownership, and conflict over “tanah surat ijo” in Surabaya. As conclusion, that the system of “tanahsurat ijo”-is a transformation of the colonial land rent system-has affected all aspects (be they social, economic political, cultural, or psychological) of its residents lives. Besides that, to promote conflict resolution, there must be a transformation in “tanah surat ijo” system; this requires the involvement, cooperation, and coordination between rel-evant ministries

    The Dayak’s social distance for Madurese ethnic are needed for restored social harmony of interethnic relationship at pasca conflict. The asumption that the Dayak as the native and Madurese as the stranger. This article from the research report on Sampit, Kotawaringin Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan Provincy, Indonesia. Population are citizens in this regency, especially them that participated in Sampit conflict at 2001. The data collection process used the survey method with the questionnaire instrument The quantitative data for measuring the level of social distance, are analized by Pearson correlation bivariat analysis. The result is that the education level, religion, and domicile are influence for Dayak’s social distance towards Madurese. They are that base education level, Kaharingan adherent, and live in hinterland have high social distance toward Madurese. The high level social distance are identical with the pure Dayak culture. Be based on the research result, then the make serious efforts to make the social harmony and nation integration in Sampit are needed make serious effort to continuing and developing of Dayak’s culture
