Blockchain Technology and the Circular Economy: A Systematic Literature Review

This paper aims to offer an overview of what the features are in the existing state of research in the field of blockchains in the circular economy. A total of 79 articles published up to 31 May 2022 have been extracted from Scopus and Web of Science. The research design has enabled us to identify what characterises the present state of research on the use of blockchains in the circular economy. It has also allowed us to obtain a new categorisation scheme of the research that has identified five themes and the contributions in each theme, and has allowed us to highlight several research gaps. The review findings indicate that the literature revolved around five research themes, namely, the relationship between blockchains and Industry 4.0, the potentials of blockchains for circular economy practices, the role of blockchains in energy management, the role of blockchains in waste management and the impact of blockchains on sustainability. This review suggests several opportunities for future research and provides some helpful implications for researchers and practitioners. Assessing the effectiveness of supply chain partnering with scalable partnering as a moderator

Purpose – The primary purpose of this paper is to examine empirically the significant determinant for supply chain partnering (SCP) that can be applied by the firms to increase their effectiveness in SCP efforts. Next, the paper intends to examine the impact of scalable partnering towards the effectiveness of SCP. Design/methodology/approach – To address the research problem, a survey instrument is developed and a structured model is hypothesized and tested using SPSS tool. Data are collected from a field research on a sample of 584 companies in Malaysia. Findings – The result of this research indicates that resource sharing have positive influences on SCP. Increasing scalable partnering would also lead to increases in the effectiveness of SCP. Research limitations/implications – One of the limitations of the study is that the use of a single key informant for the data collection from the respective companies. A more stringent test of the relationships between scalable partnering and its impact in SCP requires a longitudinal study. Practical implications – Managers must also recognize the influential role of scalable partnering which actually motivates channel partners to continue their investment in SCM initiatives. Thus, managers should pay more attention to the need of channel member to generate a higher level of confidence in scalable partnering. Originality/value – While SCP and its determinant exist in prior research, this paper contributes a new variable “Scalable Partnering” towards strengthening the relationship among the supply chain partners

Pro-Environmental Behaviours among Frontliner Employees in Oil and Gas Industry: Does Environmental Work Culture Really Matters?

Abstract. This study investigates the employee perceptions of organizational environmental initiatives and their impact on pro-pro-environmental behaviors and frequency of involvement in upstream oil and gas companies in Malaysia, such as the Production Arrangement Contractor and Service Provider Company. The study also examines a new area where environmental work culture acts as a moderator. Analyzed using SmartPLS, our findings demonstrate that supervisory support for environmental initiatives and environmental training has a positive effect on employee perception of organizational support for pro-pro-environmental behaviors. In contrast, the organization's rewards for pro-environmental behaviors do not have a significant impact on it. Following this, the employees' perceptions of organizational support for pro-environmental behaviors positively affect employee engagement in pro-environmental behaviors in both forms of employees' frequency of involvement and employees' innovative pro-environmental behaviors. The findings discovered that environmental work culture moderates the relationship of the effect of the organization's support practices on employee perception of organizational support for pro-environmental behaviors. This study is one of the first attempts to investigate the relationship between the pro-environmental behaviors within the upstream firms in the oil and gas industry. The findings are useful for practitioners in terms of exerting pro-environmental behaviors and facilitating employees' pro-environmental behaviors in the upstream oil and gas management sector.      Keywords:  Employee perceptions, pro-environmental behaviors, organizational support, work cultur

A Review of the Critical Gaps in the Food Security Literature: Addressing Key Issues for Sustainable Development

This review paper covers important gaps in the knowledge base on food security, which have an impact on world development and cause an estimated 820 million people to suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition. Food waste, climate change, socioeconomic considerations, agricultural policy, access to wholesome foods, food sovereignty, and food security are some of the major topics covered in the literature. Because of this, ensuring food security is not a straightforward issue that can be resolved by changing a single variable; rather, it necessitates the combination of numerous multidisciplinary approaches. Therefore, the goal of this study is to pinpoint the major gaps in the literature, such as a lack of attention to the perspectives of marginalized groups and a lack of investigation into the connections between food security and other global issues. The article offers suggestions for future work, including how to prioritize understudied subjects, incorporate other points of view, and enhance data collection techniques. As a result, it can be a useful starting point for linguists who want to research related topics. This study offers new researchers and practitioners a place to start to learn more about the rapidly, growing field of sustainable food security. Future research can also address these gaps and enhance food security globally for a sustainable future. This will require the participation of new scholars, policymakers, and practitioners
