    Get PDF
An indoor and outdoor experiment was conducted at Shyamsunderpur, Mayurbhanj, Odhisa to test the efficacy of the artificial diet, Tasar Amrit on the young aged Antheraea mylitta silkworm larvae. The results of the experiment reveal that survival and effective rate of rearing (ERR) was higher when larvae were brushed on Tasar Amrit (75 and 42.45%) in contrast to complete outdoor rearing (44 and 33.56 %). Uniform moulting was also observed in the larvae fed with Tasar Amrit

An experiment of outdoor rearing was conducted with the available Sukinda (TV) stock of BSM&TC, Sundargarh (SG), CTSSS, Lakha (CTS) and CTR&TI, Ranchi. The objective of this activity is to utilize economic wild life, conserving the associated environment for sustainable rural and tribal development (Raffi and Ramanujam, 2001; Gill and Lal, 2002; Mahapatra, 2009).

The crop performance of SG showed highest cocoon yield i.e., 83 cocoons / dfl in 1st crop followed by 80 cocoons / dfl in 3rd crop and 42 cocoons / dfl during 2nd crop. Yellow coloured cocoons dominated (94-96%) the population in all the three crops. The cocoon weight, Shell weight and Silk Ratio were (9.72g, 1.07g&11 %) in 1st crop,(9.77g,1.05g & 10.75%) in 2nd crop and (11.11g,1.79g & 16.11%) in commercial third crop season. The ERR were 41.64 %, 50.00 % and 74.51% in 1st, 2nd and 3rd crop respectively. This approach for semi-domesticated and commercially exploited Sukinda ecoraces can further enhances their potential because of better inherent performance levels under in situ (Suryanarayana and Srivastava, 2005) over the current basic and commercial stocks maintained ex situ.

Combined loose piece pattern for a complex job

    Get PDF
Casting is one of the earliest metal-shaping methods known to human being. It generally means pouring molten metal into a refractory mold with a cavity of the shape to be made, and allowing it to solidify. When solidified , the desired metal object is taken out from the refractory mold either by breaking the mold or by taking mold apart. This process is also called founding. A pattern is a replica of the object to be made by the casting process, with some modifications. The main modifications are addition of pattern allowances like shrinkage allowance, machining allowance, draft allowance etc., the provision of core prints and elimination of fine details. Loose piece pattern is used when the contour of the part is such that withdrawing the pattern from the mold is not possible. Hence during molding, the obstructing part of the contour is held as a loos piece by a wire. After molding is over, first the main pattern is removed and then the loose pieces are recovered through the gap generated by the main pattern. A safety valve which is generally manufactured by complex forging method , can be easily manufactured by sand casting method which is more economical the forging method. In the sand casting method, the two wedge shaped portions of the safety valve create problem during removal of pattern, so these two portions are taken as loose pieces and held as loose pieces by a wire or pin. Once the main pattern body is removed, these loose pieces are recovered through the space vacated by main pattern body. So this project work deals with manufacturing of safety valve using sand casting with split pattern which consists of multi loose pieces (combined loose piece) and its advantages over complex forging metho

Preparation of MgAl2O4 Spinel through Different Wet Chemical Methods and Study of its Densification Behavior.

MgAl2O4 spinel was prepared through three different routes, i.e. Auto-Combustion process, Citrate sol-gel process and Co-precipitation process. Spinelization was studied at three different temperatures (6000C, 7000C, 8000C) for Auto-Combustion process and Citrate sol-gel process and two different temperature (6000C, 7000C) for Co-precipitation process. Optimization was done for all the three routes to achieve phase pure spinel at lowest possible calcination temperature. Phase pure spinel was achieved at 6000C in Co-precipitation process, whereas 7000C was required to prepare phase pure spinel in case of Auto-Combustion process and Citrate sol-gel process. Spinel powders prepared by Co-precipitation process shows relatively high average particle size(800nm).whereas spinel powders prepared by citrate sol-gel and auto combustion route, have an average particle size of around 300 nm. Spinel powders were made into pellet and sintered at three different temperatures i.e. 14500C, 15000C, 15500C . Higher density values were obtained for the citrate sol gel method. A highest density of 3.23 g/cc was obtained for this samples sintered at 1550oC. TiO2 was added as a sintering additive to Spinel powder samples made by all three processes and its effect on the densification behavior was studied. These samples were sintered at three different temperatures i.e. 14500C, 15000C, 15500C. TiO2 addition enhances the densification of spinel prepared through all three methods. Highest density achieved were 3.13 and 3.03 for Co-precipitation and Auto-combustion methods respectively. Again Higher density values were obtained for the citrate sol gel method. A highest density of 3.3 g/cc was obtained for this samples sintered at 1550oC

Genipin Crosslinked Gelatin-Guargum Based Phase Separated Hydrogel for Drug Delivery and Tissue Engineering Application

    Get PDF
The rising cost of development of new drug has made researchers to look for an alternative way. In recent years researchers have given a lot of importance to increase the effectiveness of the existing drugs. No other thing affects the potency of the drug as its drug delivery system does. A lot of research is being going on to develop a novel drug delivery system. A lot of research has been done on different combination of guar gum and other substances as a drug delivery system and most of them have been done in India. Not only does guar gum is being used in food items extensively, it is also thought to have medicinal properties and optimal properties to be a drug delivery system. Guam gum is abundantly and cheaply available; with 80% of total world production is from India. In this study we have researched the possibility of using Genipin cross linked Guar gum-Gelatin phase separated hydrogels. We have done MTT assay with MG-63 cells to check cell viability, drug release test with Metronidazole, and hemocompatibility with human blood to check bio compatibility

The Magnon Spectrum in the Domain Ferromagnetic State of Antisite Disordered Double Perovskites

In their ideal structure, double perovskites like Sr_2FeMoO_6 have alternating Fe and Mo along each cubic axes, and a homogeneous ferromagnetic metallic ground state. Imperfect annealing leads to the formation of structural domains. The moments on mislocated Fe atoms that adjoin each other across the domain boundary have an antiferromagnetic coupling between them. This leads to a peculiar magnetic state, with ferromagnetic domains coupled antiferromagnetically. At short distance the system exhibits ferromagnetic correlation while at large lengthscales the net moment is strongly suppressed due to inter-domain cancellation. We provide a detailed description of the spin wave excitations of this complex magnetic state, obtained within a 1/S expansion, for progressively higher degree of mislocation, i.e., antisite disorder. At a given wavevector the magnons propagate at multiple energies, related, crudely, to `domain confined' modes with which they have large overlap. We provide a qualitative understanding of the trend observed with growing antisite disorder, and contrast these results to the much broader spectrum that one obtains for uncorrelated antisites
