    Utility greedy discrete bit loading for interference limited multi-cell OFDM system

    In this contribution we present the solution of the utility greedy discrete bit loading for interference limited multicell OFDM networks. Setting the utility as the sum of consumed power proportions, the algorithm follows greedy way to achieve the maximum throughput of the system. Simulation has shown that the proposed algorithm has better performance and lower complexity than the traditional optimal algorithm. The discussion of the results is provided

    Simulated annealing based multiuser detection for synchronous SDMA system

    In this treatise, a novel Simulated Annealing (SA) based Multi-User Detection (MUD) is proposed in synchronous Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) system. SA MUD modifies experiential Cooling Schedule (CS) of traditional SA algorithm according to its use in MUD. Moreover, in order to ensure sufficient diversity acquired in the whole Markov chain and to prevent from being trapped at local optima, Uniform Mutation (UM) based trial vector generation scheme is brought forward. In addition, the optimal solution recording scheme is also invoked in case of being lost during cooling process. Simulation results illustrate that in comparison with Genetic Algorithm (GA) MUD in the same simulation conditions, without turbo processing and soft-information, SA MUD proposed in this paper performs better, approaching the performance of Maximum Likelihood (ML) MUD and imposes lower complexity

    Multi-group frequency hopping OFDMA based on statistical multiplexing

    In this paper, the multi-group frequency hopping OFDMA (MG-FH OFDMA) based on the statistical multiplexing is proposed for the downlink cellular system. Compared with the existed random frequency hopping OFDMA (RFH-OFDMA) system utilizing the statistical multiplexing, the proposed MG-FH OFDMA invokes the deterministic hopping pattern to reduce the number of subcarrier collisions. By dividing all users into different groups, the subcarriers are utilized sufficiently. Latin Square hopping pattern and user index updating scheme are applied to randomize the subcarrier collisions among users. The user capacity, defined as the maximum number of users served with a basic data-rate in a cell, is calculated with the consideration of intra-cell capacity and the other cell interference (OCI). Results show that the proposed MG-FH OFDMA achieves higher user capacity than that of the RFH-OFDMA

    A probabilistic data association based MIMO detector using joint detection of consecutive symbol vectors

    A new probabilistic data association (PDA) approach is proposed for symbol detection in spatial multiplexing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. By designing a joint detection (JD) structure for consecutive symbol vectors in the same transmit burst, more a priori information is exploited when updating the estimated posterior marginal probabilities for each symbol per iteration. Therefore the proposed PDA detector (denoted as PDA-JD detector) outperforms the conventional PDA detectors in the context of correlated input bit streams. Moreover, the conventional PDA detectors are shown to be a special case of the PDA-JD detector. Simulations and analyses are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new method

    Approximate minimum BER power allocation for MIMO-THP system

    This paper proposes a transmit power allocation (TPA) scheme based on multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP) structure, where a TPA matrix is introduced to the conventional MIMO-THP. We analyze the influence of the introduced TPA matrix on the performance of MIMO-THP. The proposed TPA scheme invokes the minimum average uncoded bit-error rate (BER) criterion subjected to a sum-power constraint. During the derivation, we consider the effects of precoding loss factor on the TPA scheme and obtain a closed-form expression of the TPA. Compared to existing TPA methods for MIMO-THP systems, the proposed scheme reduces processing complexity and improves the BER performance

    Emerging Roles of Cullin-RING Ubiquitin Ligases in Cardiac Development

    Heart development is a spatiotemporally regulated process that extends from the embryonic phase to postnatal stages. Disruption of this highly orchestrated process can lead to congenital heart disease or predispose the heart to cardiomyopathy or heart failure. Consequently, gaining an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing cardiac development holds considerable promise for the development of innovative therapies for various cardiac ailments. While significant progress in uncovering novel transcriptional and epigenetic regulators of heart development has been made, the exploration of post-translational mechanisms that influence this process has lagged. Culling-RING E3 ubiquitin ligases (CRLs), the largest family of ubiquitin ligases, control the ubiquitination and degradation of ~20% of intracellular proteins. Emerging evidence has uncovered the critical roles of CRLs in the regulation of a wide range of cellular, physiological, and pathological processes. In this review, we summarize current findings on the versatile regulation of cardiac morphogenesis and maturation by CRLs and present future perspectives to advance our comprehensive understanding of how CRLs govern cardiac developmental processes

    Multifaceted roles of Meg3 in cellular senescence and atherosclerosis

    Background and aims: Long noncoding RNAs are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. As long non-coding RNAs maternally expressed gene 3 (Meg3) prevents cellular senescence of hepatic vascular endothelium and obesity-induced insulin resistance, we decided to examine its role in cellular senescence and atherosclerosis. Methods and Results: By analyzing our data and human and mouse data from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, we found that Meg3 expression was reduced in humans and mice with cardiovascular disease, indicating its potential role in atherosclerosis. In Ldlr−/− mice fed a Western diet for 12 weeks, Meg3 silencing by chemically modified antisense oligonucleotides attenuated the formation of atherosclerotic lesions by 34.9% and 20.1% in male and female mice, respectively, revealed by en-face Oil Red O staining, which did not correlate with changes in plasma lipid profiles. Real-time quantitative PCR analysis of cellular senescence markers p21 and p16 revealed that Meg3 deficiency aggravates hepatic cellular senescence but not cellular senescence at aortic roots. Human Meg3 transgenic mice were generated to examine the role of Meg3 gain-of-function in the development of atherosclerosis induced by PCSK9 overexpression. Meg3 overexpression promotes atherosclerotic lesion formation by 29.2% in Meg3 knock-in mice independent of its effects on lipid profiles. Meg3 overexpression inhibits hepatic cellular senescence, while it promotes aortic cellular senescence likely by impairing mitochondrial function and delaying cell cycle progression. Conclusions: Our data demonstrate that Meg3 promotes the formation of atherosclerotic lesions independent of its effects on plasma lipid profiles. In addition, Meg3 regulates cellular senescence in a tissue-specific manner during atherosclerosis. Thus, we demonstrated that Meg3 has multifaceted roles in cellular senescence and atherosclerosis

    Causal State Estimation and Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

    The observables of a noisy quantum system can be estimated by appropriately filtering the records of their continuous measurement. Such filtering is relevant for state estimation and measurement-based quantum feedback control. It is therefore imperative that the observables estimated through a causal filter satisfy the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. In the Markovian setting, prior work implicitly guarantees this requirement. We show that any causal estimate of linear observables of a linear, but not necessarily Markovian, system will satisfy the uncertainty principle. In particular, this is true irrespective of any feedback control of the system and of where in the feedback loop -- inside or outside -- the measurement record is accessed. Indeed, causal estimators using the in-loop measurement record can be as precise as those using the out-of-loop record. These results clarify the role of causal estimators to a large class of quantum systems, restores the equanimity of in-loop and out-of-loop measurements in their estimation and control, and simplifies future experiments on measurement-based quantum feedback control

    Green technology innovation and carbon emissions nexus in China: Does industrial structure upgrading matter?

    Compared with traditional technological innovation modes, green technology innovation is more targeted for low carbon development and critical support for countries worldwide to combat climate change. The impact of green technology innovation on carbon emissions is considered in terms of fixed effect and mediating effect models through industrial structure upgrading. For this purpose, the sample dataset of 30 provincial administrative areas in China from 2008 to 2020 is employed. The results demonstrate that green technology innovation exerts significantly inhibitory effects on carbon emissions, whose conclusion still holds after removing municipalities and replacing the dependent variable. Industrial structure upgrading is vital for green technology innovation to diminish carbon emissions. There is significant regional heterogeneity in the effects of green technology innovation on carbon emissions, i.e., the direct and indirect impact of green technology innovation on carbon emission reduction is significant in the eastern-central area, but its effect is insignificant in the western region. Therefore, it is essential to realize carbon emission reduction by further bolstering green technology innovation and accelerating industrial structure upgrading to fulfill the synergy of technology and structure
