ATP/EMTP study of ferroresonance involving HV inductive VT and circuit breaker capacitance

Ferroresonance is a phenomenon usually initiated by transients in power networks resulting from e.g. switching operations or ground faults. Non linear behavior of the core of an inductive voltage transformer results in magnetic saturation. long-lasting ferroresonant state is dangerous to the equipment due to prolonged overvoltage and large overcurrents in HV windings.in the present article numerical simulations of the ferroresonance phenomenon in a HV inductive Vare presented. the ferroresonant oscillations analyzed result from interaction between the voltage transformer and a grading capacitance of a circuit breaker

Legal and economic determinants of competitiveness in international trade – some aspects from the perspective of structural competitiveness in the Polish trade with the countries of the European Union

Na bazie dogłębnej analizy dynamiki zmian w poziomie konkurencyjności strukturalno- czynnikowej polskiego handlu na rynku UE (wskaźniki RCA oraz IIT w latach 2002–2012) autorzy systematyzują wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne determinanty innowacyjności na poziomie mikro- i makroekonomicznym oraz wskazują na istotę, znaczenie i obszary wyzwań stojących przed polską gospodarką w tym względzie. Obok aspektów polityczno-ekonomicznych (polityka ekonomiczna państwa w krótkim i długim okresie), opracowanie zawiera również wskazania co do uwarunkowań i pożądanych zmian w zakresie prawa krajowego, unijnego i międzynarodowego. On the basis of thorough analysis of the dynamics of changes in the level of structural competitiveness of Polish trade on the EU market (RCA and IIT indicators in the period of 2002–2012), the authors systematize internal and external determinants of innovation at macro- and microeconomics level and point out the essence, signifi cance and areas of challenges facing the Polish economy in this regard. In addition to political and economic aspects (economic policy in the short and long term), the study also includes indications as to the conditions and desired changes in national, EU and international law

Encapsulation of power electronics components for operation in harsh environments

This paper reports on analyses and testing of sensitive power electronics components encapsulation concept, enabling operation in harsh, especially high pressure environments. The paper describes development of the concept of epoxy modules that can be used for protecting of the power electronics components against harsh environmental conditions. It covers modeling of the protective capsules using a simple analytical approach and Finite Element Method (FEM) models and validation of the developed models with the high pressure tests on samples fabricated. The analyses covered two types of the epoxy modules: of sphere- and elongated- shape, both with electrical penetrators that enable electrical connection of the encapsulated components with external power sources as well as other power modules and components. The tests were conducted in a pressure chamber, with a maximum applied pressure of 310 bars, for which online strain measurements have been conducted. The experimental results were compared with the simulation results obtained with analytical and FEM models, providing validation of the models employed. The experimental part of this work was conducted in collaboration with Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia
