The purpose of the present study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of reforming unused stored goods. Useful application of so called unused stored goods such as clothes and gifts of similar nature (fabric materials) which have become oldfashioned and are no longer worn but still kept without being discarded as resources would serve as a means of reducing rubbish. As samples, 8 types of cloth were employed and the design of the items utilizing the material permitted portrayal of 3~4 types. With these, three suits of children's clothes of boys and girls, respectively, shop curtains, and ecologic bags were reformed by the procedures of cutting, sewing and finishing. Evaluation of the 8 items comparing before and after the reforming showed that the effect of reforming in all the works was remarkable and a rubbish reduction of about 60~70% was possible. Furthermore, reforming clothing could be made at about 1/5 ~ 1/7 of the market price of the goods, demonstrating also its economy. Reforming of unused stored goods leads not only to the development of the spirit of MOTTAINAI but also to revaluation of eco-onscious life and it serves as an aid to the re-cycling society.報告Report

Excerpt from the report Summary: This report presents the results of preliminary laboratory evaluation tests made with 534 experimental compounds to determine their efficacy as repellents against stored-product insects. The studies were conducted at the Savannah, Ga. , laboratory as part of a research program on the development of insect-resistant packaging to find additional materials other than pyrethrum, the only chemical approved for package treatment by the Food and Drug Administration at the present time

Excerpt from the report Preface: This report is a supplement to Marketing Research Report 324. It covers the laboratory evaluation of 450 additional compounds as insect repellents for possible use in the development of insect-resistant packages for food, feed, fiber, and other agricultural commodities. The study is a part of a broad research program of the Agricultural Marketing Service designed to improve market quality and to reduce costs of marketing farm products
