Path Integrals and Parastatistics
The propagator and corresponding path integral for a system of identical
particles obeying parastatistics are derived. It is found that the statistical
weights of topological sectors of the path integral for parafermions and
parabosons are simply related through multiplication by the parity of the
permutation of the final positions of the particles. Appropriate
generalizations of statistics are proposed obeying unitarity and
factorizability (strong cluster decomposition). The realization of simple

Moral injury in healthcare professionals: A scoping review and discussion
Moral injury emerged in the healthcare discussion quite recently because of the difficulties and challenges healthcare workers and healthcare systems face in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moral injury involves a deep emotional wound and is unique to those who bear witness to intense human suffering and cruelty. This article aims to synthesise the very limited evidence from empirical studies on moral injury and to discuss a better understanding of the concept of moral injury, its importance in the healthcare context and its relation to the well-known concept of moral distress. A scoping literature review design was used to support the discussion. Systematic literature searches conducted in April 2020 in two electronic databases, PubMed/Medline and PsychInfo, produced 2044 hits but only a handful of empirical papers, from which seven well-focused articles were identified. The concept of moral injury was considered under other concepts as well such as stress of conscience, regrets for ethical situation, moral distress and ethical suffering, guilt without fault, and existential suffering with inflicting pain. Nurses had witnessed these difficult ethical situations when faced with unnecessary patient suffering and a feeling of not doing enough. Some cases of moral distress may turn into moral residue and end in moral injury with time, and in certain circumstances and contexts. The association between these concepts needs further investigation and confirmation through empirical studies; in particular, where to draw the line as to when moral distress turns into moral injury, leading to severe consequences. Given the very limited research on moral injury, discussion of moral injury in the context of the duty to care, for example, in this pandemic settings and similar situations warrants some consideration
The transcription factor Sox5 modulates Sox10 function during melanocyte development
The transcription factor Sox5 has previously been shown in chicken to be expressed in early neural crest cells and neural crest-derived peripheral glia. Here, we show in mouse that Sox5 expression also continues after neural crest specification in the melanocyte lineage. Despite its continued expression, Sox5 has little impact on melanocyte development on its own as generation of melanoblasts and melanocytes is unaltered in Sox5-deficient mice. Loss of Sox5, however, partially rescued the strongly reduced melanoblast generation and marker gene expression in Sox10 heterozygous mice arguing that Sox5 functions in the melanocyte lineage by modulating Sox10 activity. This modulatory activity involved Sox5 binding and recruitment of CtBP2 and HDAC1 to the regulatory regions of melanocytic Sox10 target genes and direct inhibition of Sox10-dependent promoter activation. Both binding site competition and recruitment of corepressors thus help Sox5 to modulate the activity of Sox10 in the melanocyte lineage
Canonical Partition Functions for Parastatistical Systems of any order
A general formula for the canonical partition function for a system obeying
any statistics based on the permutation group is derived. The formula expresses
the canonical partition function in terms of sums of Schur functions. The only
hitherto known result due to Suranyi [ Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 65}, 2329 (1990)]
for parasystems of order two is shown to arise as a special case of our general
formula. Our results also yield all the relevant information about the

Connectivity and Nitrate Uptake Potential of Intermittent Streams in the Northeast USA
Non-perennial streams dominate the extent of stream networks worldwide. Intermittent streams can provide ecosystem services to the entire networkāincluding nitrate uptake to alleviate eutrophication of coastal watersāand are threatened by lack of legal protection. We examined 12 intermittent streams in the temperate, humid climate of the Northeast USA. Over 3 years of monitoring, continuous flow was observed a median of 277 d yrā1, with no-flow conditions from early summer into fall. Estimated median discharge was 2.9 L sā1 or 0.36mm dā1. All intermittent streams originated from source wetlands (median area: 0.27 ha) and the median length of the intermittent stream from the source wetland to the downstream perennial stream was 344m. Through regional geospatial analysis with high resolution orthophotography, we estimated that widely available, āhigh resolutionā (1:24,000) hydrography databases (e.g., NHDPlus HR) only displayed 43% of the total number of intermittent streams. Whole-stream gross nitrate-N uptake rates were estimated at six intermittent streams during continuous flow conditions using pulse additions of nitrate and a conservative tracer. These rates displayed high temporal variability (range: no detect to over 6,000mg N mā1 dā1); hot moments were noted in nine of the 65 pulse additions. Whole-stream gross nitrate-N uptake rates were significantly inversely related to discharge, with no measurable rates above 7 L sā1. Temperature was significantly positively correlated with whole-stream gross nitrate-N uptake rates, with more hot moments in the spring. Microbial assays demonstrated that nitrate cycling in intermittent streams are consistent with results from low order, perennial forested streams and highlighted the importance of debris dams and poolsāpotential locations for transient storage. Our assessment suggests that intermittent streams in our region may annually contribute 24ā47% of the flow to perennial streams and potentially remove 4.1 to 80.4 kg nitrate-N kmā2 annually. If development in these areas continues, perennial streams are in danger of losing a portion of their headwaters and potential nitrate uptake areas may become nitrate sources to downstream areas. These results argue to manage fluvial systems with a holistic approach that couples intermittent and perennial components
Local treatment of pressure ulcers in long-term care: a correlational cross-sectional study
Objective:To analyse the treatment of pressure ulcers (PU) in long-term care.Method:In this correlational cross-sectional study, data was collected between November 2015 and January 2016 from older people with PUs in private and public long-term care facilities in Finland. Data collection was conducted by trained nurses using the Pressure Ulcer Patient Instrument (PUP-Ins). Outcomes measured were: prevalence and localisation of PU, local PU treatment, frequency (how often/week/day) and duration (minutes/week or day) of PU treatment.Results:In total, 112 patients with 158 PUs were identified (a prevalence rate of 5%). PUs were located most often on the heel (38%), hip (13%), buttocks (10%) and lateral malleolus (9.5%). The most frequently used PU treatment was skin protecting agents and local wound care products. The most typical treatment in category I, II and III PUs were foam dressings. In category III PUs, ribbon gauze dressings were also used. The most typical products for category IV PUs were complex dressings. Category I PUs received more treatment per day or week than other categories of PUs.Conclusion:PU treatment is inconsistent and often conducted with varying methods and products. Holistic patient care must be the focus. Nurses in long-term care settings might benefit from in-depth in-service education focusing on the treatment of PUs. More research is needed about nurses' competence in PU treatment.</p
