Application of Two-Phase Regression to Geotechnical Data
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 62F10, 62J05, 62P30A method for estimating a transition parameter in two-phase regression
is described. The two phases are fitted and simultaneously the transition
point is estimated. Practical application of the method is demonstrated on
the data for determining soil hydraulic properties.Partly supported by projects FOR 444, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany, MM1301/2003, National Science Fund, Bulgaria, and PRO-ENBIS: GTC1-2001-43031
On the upper bound of the risk in selection of the T best items
A fixed sample size procedure for selecting the t best system components is considered. The probability requirement is set to be satisfied under the indifference zone formulation. In order to minimize the average losses from misclassification, we use loss function which is sensitive to the number of misclassifications. The upper bound of the corresponding risk is derived for location parameter distributions. The risk function for the Least Favorable Configuration is derived in an integral form for a large class of distribution functionsThis research was supported by the grant DH02-13 of the Bulgarian National Science Fun
Nadaraya-Watson Density Estimation for Interval Censored Data
This paper is concerned with the nonparametric estimation of a density function when the data are incomplete due to interval censoring. The Nadaraya-
Watson kernel density estimator is modified to allow description of such interval
data

On statistical properties of Chebyshev's norm
A measure of association between two rankings is proposed. This measure -- the maximum of the absolute values of the difference between the ranks -- is treated as a metric on the set of permutations. We calculate the mean and the variance of the metric under uniformity assumption. The limiting distribution is established.Statistical measures of association Chebyshev's norm Metrics on permutations

On the joint distribution of precedences and exceedances for the two-sample problem
This paper concerns the joint behaviour of precedences of one sample with
respect to a threshold from the other sample and exceedances of second sample
with respect to a threshold from the Їrst sample. Exact distributions under the
same distribution of the samples and under stochastically ordered distributions
are obtained
