Online Popularity and Topical Interests through the Lens of Instagram
Online socio-technical systems can be studied as proxy of the real world to
investigate human behavior and social interactions at scale. Here we focus on
Instagram, a media-sharing online platform whose popularity has been rising up
to gathering hundred millions users. Instagram exhibits a mixture of features
including social structure, social tagging and media sharing. The network of
social interactions among users models various dynamics including
follower/followee relations and users' communication by means of
posts/comments. Users can upload and tag media such as photos and pictures, and
they can "like" and comment each piece of information on the platform. In this
work we investigate three major aspects on our Instagram dataset: (i) the
structural characteristics of its network of heterogeneous interactions, to
unveil the emergence of self organization and topically-induced community
structure; (ii) the dynamics of content production and consumption, to
understand how global trends and popular users emerge; (iii) the behavior of
users labeling media with tags, to determine how they devote their attention
and to explore the variety of their topical interests. Our analysis provides
clues to understand human behavior dynamics on socio-technical systems,
specifically users and content popularity, the mechanisms of users'
interactions in online environments and how collective trends emerge from

Serum anti-Müllerian hormone concentrations before and after treatment of an ovarian granulosa cell tumour in a cat
Case summary A 15-year-old female cat was presented for investigation of progressive behavioural changes, polyuria, polydipsia and periuria. An ovarian granulosa cell tumour was identified and the cat underwent therapeutic ovariohysterectomy (OHE). The cat’s clinical signs resolved, but 6 months later it was diagnosed as having an anaplastic astrocytoma and was euthanased. Serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) concentration prior to OHE was increased vs a control group of entire and neutered female cats. Following OHE, serum AMH concentration decreased to <1% of the original value. Relevance and novel information Serum AMH measurement may represent a novel diagnostic and monitoring tool for functional ovarian neoplasms in cats
Thermal Kinetic Inductance Detectors for Millimeter-Wave Astrophysics
Thermal Kinetic Inductance Detectors (TKIDs) combine the excellent noise performance of traditional bolometers with a radio frequency (RF) multiplexing architecture that enables the large detector counts needed for the next generation of millimeter-wave instruments. Here we present dark prototype TKID pixels that demonstrate a noise equivalent power NEP = 2×10⁻¹⁷√W/Hz with a 1/f knee at 0.1 Hz, suitable for background-limited noise performance at 150 GHz from a ground-based site. We discuss the optimizations in the device design and fabrication techniques to realize optimal electrical performance and high quality factors at a bath temperature of 250 mK

Coherent Control for a Two-level System Coupled to Phonons
The interband polarizations induced by two phase-locked pulses in a
semiconductor show strong interference effects depending on the time tau_1
separating the pulses. The four-wave mixing signal diffracted from a third
pulse delayed by tau is coherently controlled by tuning tau_1. The four-wave
mixing response is evaluated exactly for a two-level system coupled to a single
LO phonon. In the weak coupling regime it shows oscillations with the phonon
frequency which turn into sharp peaks at multiples of the phonon period for a
larger coupling strength. Destructive interferences between the two
phase-locked pulses produce a splitting of the phonon peaks into a doublet. For
fixed tau but varying tau_1 the signal shows rapid oscillations at the
interband-transition frequency, whose amplitude exhibits bursts at multiples of

Partitioning and modularity of graphs with arbitrary degree distribution
We solve the graph bi-partitioning problem in dense graphs with arbitrary
degree distribution using the replica method. We find the cut-size to scale
universally with . In contrast, earlier results studying the problem in
graphs with a Poissonian degree distribution had found a scaling with ^1/2
[Fu and Anderson, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 19, 1986]. The new results also
generalize to the problem of q-partitioning. They can be used to find the
expected modularity Q [Newman and Grivan, Phys. Rev. E, 69, 2004] of random
graphs and allow for the assessment of statistical significance of the output

Frequency-Dependent Shot Noise as a Probe of Electron-Electron Interaction in Mesoscopic Diffusive Contacts
The frequency-dependent shot noise in long and narrow mesoscopic diffusive
contacts is numerically calculated. The case of arbitrarily strong
electron-electron scattering and zero temperature of electrodes is considered.
For all voltages, the noise increases with frequency and tends to finite
values. These limiting values are larger than the Poissonian noise and increase
nearly as voltage to power 4/3. This allows one to experimentally determine the

AC-KBO Revisited
Equational theories that contain axioms expressing associativity and
commutativity (AC) of certain operators are ubiquitous. Theorem proving methods
in such theories rely on well-founded orders that are compatible with the AC
axioms. In this paper we consider various definitions of AC-compatible
Knuth-Bendix orders. The orders of Steinbach and of Korovin and Voronkov are
revisited. The former is enhanced to a more powerful version, and we modify the
latter to amend its lack of monotonicity on non-ground terms. We further
present new complexity results. An extension reflecting the recent proposal of
subterm coefficients in standard Knuth-Bendix orders is also given. The various
