The paper is created as the tendency of a group of authors, that with an integrative approach in the application of intelligent systems, by using analogy with some function in human body, to develop a model to improve organizational performance. The paper is based on two unique bases, of a representative number of data that reflect real business conditions and including a significant number of organizations. In order to achieve the set goals, several approaches were adopted, tools and methods, such as analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methodology, case base reasoning, artificial intelligence tools– expert systems, verification in real condition and other. As the key outcomes of the paper are obtained the fields that are critical to achieve the best organizational performance, and indicators for the development of expert systems whose functions, efficiency and effectiveness are verified in real conditions

FUZZY APPROACH IN EVALUATION OF OPERATIONS IN FOOD PRODUCTION

No full text
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is a scientifically based set of principles that is designed to prevent food borne illness. This dynamic system uses a combination of food handling procedures, monitoring and record keeping to have food safe. HACCP is based around seven established principles. This paper proposes fuzzy approach in establishing critical limits in process of ensuring food safety

Remote controlled laboratory experiments on the web

The purpose of this paper is to present organization and development of web laboratory exercises in Web Laboratory, University of Kragujevac. WebLab provides remote access to real laboratory equipment using contemporary computer and network technology for creating the environment that will enable the remote user to perform the required laboratory exercises and control the laboratory equipment. This paper presents pre-requests, architecture and software realization of web based laboratory. Using feedback from survey we will present framework for web laboratory and web lab experiment in order to incorporate practical work and laboratory exercises in integrated e-learning environment. Realizations of two laboratory experiments developed using different platforms are presented, compared and contrasted. Finally some educational results of usage of web laboratory in industrial engineering education are presented

The Vision of Europe as knowledge-based society is funded on availability and application of knowledge in all segments of European life. Universities, as key provider of knowledge, and industry, as its largest consumer, are two pillows of this vision. Academic Institutions has a double role in provisioning of knowledge: “research” for creation of new knowledge and “education” as dissemination of current knowledge. In this investigation, a four-year cross-border collaboration is described, including strategy, mechanisms and tools adopted for supporting a wider cooperation between universities and industry. Background, challenges and concepts of long-term sustainability are also presented. Furthermore, a general overview of technical outcomes and advances, provided by a research and development joint action, thanks to this international cooperation, is illustrated. A deeper description regarding these technical investigations is proposed in the following articles of this Special Issue on “Wood: an Ancient Material for a Modern Quality\u201

ADVANCED DESIGN SOLUTIONS FOR HIGH-PRECISION WOODWORKING MACHINES

No full text
With the aim at performing the highest precision during woodworking, a mix of alternative approaches, fruitfully integrated in a common design strategy, is essential. This paper represents an overview of technical solutions, recently developed by authors, in design of machine tools and their final effects on manufacturing. The most advanced solutions in machine design are reported side by side with common practices or little everyday expedients. These design actions are directly or indirectly related to the rational use of materials, sometimes very uncommon, as in the case of magnetorheological fluids chosen to implement an active control in speed and force on the electro-spindle, and permitting to improve the quality of wood machining. Other actions are less unusual, as in the case of the adoption of innovative anti-vibration supports for basement. Tradition or innovation, all these technical solutions contribute to the final result: the highest precision in wood machining

Training is specific service with different goals and target groups. Because that is very difficult to build right model and achieve high level of effectiveness of training. With introducing e-learning becomes more significant its application for e-training, but we not jet now in literature and practice about effectiveness of e-training. In this paper is described model of effectiveness as characteristics of training process quality

Business incubators aim to maximize the chances of success of start - up companies by creating a supportive environment. Typically, this involves offering management assistance, mentoring, access to financing, flexible and low - cost leases, office services, etc. There is large number of business incubators in the world. In this paper issues concerned status, development and overview of existing practice in the world will be presented as well as general issues and perspectives for developing countries

INTEGRATION OF VIRTUAL ENTERPRISES USING SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE

No full text
Virtual enterprise integration (VEI) is virtually the most critical success factor for making virtual enterprise (VE) a real, competitive, and widely implemented organizational an d management concept. One of possible approaches in virtual enterprise integration is employment of web services. In this paper we will present process-oriented approach for developing an SOA for VEI. The general assumption of suggested approach is that service oriented architecture is based on business service and that business services mostly correspond to exchanged documentation in a real business system. CASE tool for web service specification is also presented

One of the basis of a series of standards JUS ISO 9000 is quality system documentation. An architecture of the quality system documentation depends on the complexity of business system. An establishment of an efficient management documentation of system of quality is of a great importance for the business system, as well as in the phase of introducing the quality system and in further stages of its improvement. The study describes the architecture and capability of software solutions to support and manage the quality system documentation in accordance with the requirements of standards ISO 9001:2001, ISO 14001:2005 HACCP etc
