In this paper an analysis of selection combining (SC) macrodiversity reception performed in correlated Gamma shadowing environment will be presented. At each microlevel maximal ratio combining (MRC) with correlated branches is observed, for mitigating effects of Nakagami-m short-time fading. First, novel closed form expressions are derived for second order statistical measures, level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD). Capitalizing on these expressions, the influence of correlation at macrolevel (shadowing correlation) will be analysed through their derivatives. Provided analysis could find application in current macrodiversity system design

    Get PDF
An approach to the relative measurement error analysis in the process of the Nakagami-m fading signal moments estimation will be presented in this paper. Relative error expressions will be also derived for the cases when MRC (Maximal Ratio Combining) diversity technique is performed at the receiver. Capitalizing on them, results will be graphically presented and discussed to show the influence of various parameters, such as diversity order and fading severity on the relative measurement error bounds

In this paper, the effects of multipath fading and shadowing over the propagation channel are observed through the performance analysis of switch and stay selection combining (SSC) technique. The short term fading (multipath fading) in conjunction with the long term fading (shadowing) are both modeled by Generalized-K (K_G) distribution. The proposed system is considered as interference-limited system in correlated fading environment. The probability density function (PDF) of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) at the output of SSC receiver is derived in form of Meijer G functions. According to this new expression, the outage probability is considered and the effects of fading and shadowing parameters and correlation coefficients on the performance gain are analyzed.U radu su razmatrana djelovanja višeputnog slabljenja i zasjenjivanja signala u propagacijskom kanalu pomoću analize SSC prijemnika raznolikosti (prekidački prostorni kombinator raznolikosti).

Wireless mobile communication system with selection combining (SC) diversity receiver is analyzed. Received signal envelope experiences α-κ-µ short term fading resulting in system performance degradation. Level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD) of SC receiver output signal envelope is obtained as rapidly converging infinite series expressions. Numerical resulting are presented graphically to show the influence of transmission parameters, such are multipath fading severity, dominant component power and nonlinearity propagation parameter on observed LCR performance of dual SC

Switched Nonuniform and Piecewise Uniform Scalar Quantization of Laplacian Source

    Get PDF
In this paper switched nonuniform and piecewise uniform scalar quantization of Laplacian source are analyzed. This scalar quantization techniques are used in order to obtain higher signal quality by increasing signal-to-quantization noise ratio (SNRQ) with respect to it’s necessary robustness over a broad range of input variances in a wide range of signal volumes. We observe μ-law compandor implementation to achieve compromise between high-rate digitalization and variance adaptation. The main contribution of this model is kipping almost the same quality as the nonuniform compandor model, with simpler realization structure and the possibility of it’s applying for digitalization of wide range continuous signals

A Reliability-Based Approach to Nonrepairable Spare Part Forecasting in Aircraft Maintenance System

    Get PDF
In recent times, spare parts inventory systems have been extensively researched, but most inventory models were not fully adequate due to the stochastic nature of inventory environment. This paper proposes an approach that supports decision making process in planning and controlling of spare parts in aircraft maintenance systems. Reliability characteristics of aircraft consumable parts were analyzed in order to substantiate this approach. Moreover, the proposed reliability model was used to evaluate characteristics of subassemblies and/or assemblies these parts belong to. Finally, an innovative approach for determining the total amount of parts required in inventory and underage costs, based on observing the total unit time as a stochastic process, is presented herein

We will provide statistical analysis of the square ratio of κ-μ and η-μ random processes and its application in the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) based performance analysis of wireless transmission subjected to the influence of multipath fading, modelled by κ-μ fading model, and undesired occurrence of co-channel interference (CCI), distributed as η-μ random process. First contribution of the paper is deriving exact closed expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of square ratio of κ-μ and η-μ random processes. Further, a verification of accuracy of these PDF and CDF expressions was given by comparison with the corresponding approximations obtained by the high-precision quadrature formulas of Gaussian type with respect to the weight functions on (0,+∞). The computational procedure of such quadrature rules is provided by using the constructive theory of orthogonal polynomials and the MATHEMATICA package OrthogonalPolynomials created by Cvetković and Milovanović (2004). Capitalizing on obtained expression, important wireless performance criteria, namely, outage probability (OP), have been obtained, as functions of transmission parameters. Also, possible performance improvement is observed through a glance at SC (selection combining) reception employment based on obtained expressions
