THE FACADE COLOR’S INFLUENCE ON A HUMAN’S PERCEPTION
There is total idea about the colour of facade’s influence of a building on a human’s perception and its physiological mental condition. The literal building integration into the environment is able to decrease the load on the general state ang health of a human. The choice of colour decision depends on the locality of a building, climatic conditions and other factors analysed in the article
Concurrent thermochemoradiotherapy for brain high-grade glioma
Despite the achievements in the current strategies for treatment, the prognosis in malignant glioma patients remains unsatisfactory. Hyperthermia is currently considered to be the most effective and universal modifier of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Preliminary treatment outcomes for 28 patients with newly diagnosed (23) and recurrent (5) high-grade gliomas were presented. All the patients received multimodality treatment including surgery, thermoche-moradiotherapy followed by 4 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. All the patients endured thermochemoradiotherapy well. A complication, limited skin burn (II stage), was diagnosed in two cases and treated conservatively without treatment interruption. A month after thermochemoradiotherapy the results were as follows: complete regression was achieved in 4 cases, partial regression in 4 cases, stable disease in 14 cases and disease progression in 6 cases (one of them is pseudo-progression). After completing the adjuvant chemotherapy 2 more patients demonstrated complete response and 1 patient had disease progression. Introduction of local hyperthermia in multimodal therapy of malignant glioma does not impair the combined modality treatment tolerability of patients with malignant gliomas. A small number of studied patients and short follow-up time do not allow making reliable conclusions about the impact of local hyperthermia on the treatment outcomes; however, there is a tendency towards the increase in disease-free survival in the patients with newly diagnosed malignant gliomas
Physical therapy methods in the treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients
The results of the effective use of magnetic laser therapy in the treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients were presented. The effect of magnetic-laser therapy in the treatment of radiation-induced reactions in the patients with head and neck cancer and in the patients with breast cancer was analyzed. High efficiency of lymphedema and lymphorrhea treatment in the postoperative period in the patients with breast cancer was proved. The results of rehabilitation of the patients with gastric cancer after surgical treatment were presented. These data indicate a high effectiveness of different physical methods of treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients
A Study of the Crystal Structure of SmCaCo1−xFexO4−δ and Sm0.9Ca1.1Fe1−yCoyO4−δ Solid Solutions
Complex oxides with general compositions SmCaCo1−xFexO4−δ and Sm0.9Ca1.1Fe1−yCoyCO4−δ are synthesized using the glycerol-nitrate technique at 1100 °C in air. By powder X-ray diffraction it is determined that SmCaCo1−xFexO4−δ solid solutions exist in a composition range 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.3 and Sm0.9Ca1.1Fe1−yCoyO4−δ solid solutions exist in a composition range 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.7. The samples with high concentrations of cobalt ions are found to crystallize in the tetragonal unit cell (space group I4/mmm), whereas the solid solutions enriched with iron ions have the orthorhombic structure (space group Bmab). For all single phase samples the unit cell parameters and volume and the structural parameters (atomic coordinates and bond lengths) are calculated by the full-profile Rietveld method. © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd
When two symmetrically independent molecules must be different: "crystallization-induced diastereomerization" of chiral pinanyl sulfone
According to X-ray data, homochiral pinanyl sulfone crystallizes as an asymmetric dimer formed by pairwise H-bonds involving stereochemically different oxygen atoms of sulfonyl groups of molecules A and B. Thus, a pro-R atom is invoked for the construction of a relevant H-bond in molecule A, but in the case of molecule B only a pro-S atom is involved. Newly formed chiral sulfur atoms take opposite chirality in molecules A and B, while the configuration of the pinane skeleton remains unchanged. Such a stereochemical transformation is called "crystallization-induced diastereomerization". The stability of the asymmetric dimer found in the crystal was evaluated within the framework of DFT (B3LYP, 6-31G (d,p)) and studied via IR spectroscopy in solution. Kerr-Gauss-Bonnet Black Holes: An Analytical Approximation
Gauss-Bonnet gravity provides one of the most promising frameworks to study
curvature corrections to the Einstein action in supersymmetric string theories,
while avoiding ghosts and keeping second order field equations. Although
Schwarzschild-type solutions for Gauss-Bonnet black holes have been known for
long, the Kerr-Gauss-Bonnet metric is missing. In this paper, a five
dimensional Gauss-Bonnet approximation is analytically derived for spinning
black holes and the related thermodynamical properties are briefly outlined.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figur
Infrared signatures of charge stripes in La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4)
The in-plane optical conductivity of seven La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) single crystals
with x between 0 and 0.15 has been studied from 30 to 295 K. All doped samples
exhibit strong peaks in the far-infrared, which closely resemble those observed
in Cu-O "ladders" with one-dimensional charge-ordering. The behavior with
doping and temperature of the peak energy, width, and intensity allows us to
conclude that we are observing charge stripes dynamics in La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) on
the fast time scale of infrared spectroscopy.Comment: 9 pages including figs. in pdf forma
Study of "racemic compound-like" behavior of diastereomeric mixture of pinanyl sulfoxides by x-ray diffraction, ir spectroscopy, and DFT calculations
The oxidation of a β-hydroxysulfide in the pinane series by use of mchloroperbenzoic acid resulted in the formation of the corresponding β-hydroxysulfoxide as a mixture of two diastereomers in 4:5 ratio. According to single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) results, it is established that the diastereomeric mixture of sulfoxides crystallizes in the "racemic compound-like" manner under formation of asymmetric dimers through S=O··H-O interactions. This asymmetric dimer formed from diastereomeric molecules is a structural unit in both crystal modifications, the triclinic and the monoclinic one. The behavior of the diastereomeric mixture of pinane derived sulfoxides in crystals, melts and in tetrachloromethane solutions was studied by IR spectroscopy. The density functional theory (DFT) method with 6-31G (d, p) basis set was used to calculate the optimized geometrical parameters and vibrational frequencies of different associates in solution. The calculated vibrational frequencies are compared with experimental IR spectra. Copyright © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC
Structure of the Galaxies in the NGC 80 Group
BV-bands photometric data obtained at the 6-m telescope of the Special
Astrophysical Observatory are used to analyze the structure of 13 large disk
galaxies in the NGC 80 group. Nine of the 13 galaxies under consideration are
classified by us as lenticular galaxies. The stellar populations in the
galaxies are very different, from old ones with ages of T>10 Gyrs (IC 1541) to
relatively young, with the ages of T<2-3 Gyr (IC 1548, NGC 85). In one case,
current star formation is known (UCM 0018+2216). In most of the galaxies, more
precisely in all of them more luminous than M(B) -18, two-tiered
(`antitruncated') stellar disks are detected, whose radial surface brightness
profiles can be fitted by two exponential segments with different scalelengths
-- shorter near the center and longer at the periphery. All dwarf S0 galaxies
with single-scalelength exponential disks are close companions to giant
galaxies. Except for this fact, no dependence of the properties of S0 galaxies
on distance from the center of the group is found. Morphological traces of
minor merger are found in the lenticular galaxy NGC 85. Basing on the last two
points, we conclude that the most probable mechanisms for the transformation of
spirals into lenticular galaxies in groups are gravitational ones, namely,
minor mergers and tidal interactions.Comment: 24 pages, 9 figures, slightly improved version of the paper published
