The present study was conducted to determine how salinity affects growth and enzymatic activity in shoot and root organs of Salicornia brachiata Roxb. The seedlings were treated with various concentration of exogenous addition of NaCl ranging from 0 to 700mM was added. The 700mM NaCl treatment significantly reduced the growth rate. The shoot and root length, fresh and dry weight increased significantly upto 400mM NaCl and thereafter drastically reduced. The antioxidant enzyme such as catalase (CAT), peroxidase (PO), polyphenoloxidase (PPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity increased upto 400mM NaCl. Beyond this level all the enzyme activity gradually reduced. The increase in the enzyme activity was probably due to the direct influence of salt stress on enzyme synthesis and the induction of enzyme synthesis by salt stress may play a role in the salt tolerance

Electrical neurostimulation for chronic pain: on selective relay of sensory neural activities in myelinated nerve fibers

Chronic pain affects about 100 million adults in the US. Despite their great need, neuropharmacology and neurostimulation therapies for chronic pain have been associated with suboptimal efficacy and limited long-term success, as their mechanisms of action are unclear. Yet current computational models of pain transmission suffer from several limitations. In particular, dorsal column models do not include the fundamental underlying sensory activity traveling in these nerve fibers. We developed a (simple) simulation test bed of electrical neurostimulation of myelinated nerve fibers with underlying sensory activity. This paper reports our findings so far. Interactions between stimulation-evoked and underlying activities are mainly due to collisions of action potentials and losses of excitability due to the refractory period following an action potential. In addition, intuitively, the reliability of sensory activity decreases as the stimulation frequency increases. This first step opens the door to a better understanding of pain transmission and its modulation by neurostimulation therapies

With the current enhancement of advancement towards pharmaceutical, particular ultrasound strategies are open to discover the fetal thriving. It is analyzed with assorted clinical parameters with 2-D imaging and other test. In any case, success want of fetal heart still remains an open issue due to unconstrained works out of the hatchling, the minor heart assess and lacking of information in fetal echocardiography. The machine learning techniques can discover out the classes of fetal heart rate which can be utilized for prior assessing. With this background, we have utilized Cardiotocographic Fetal heart rate dataset removed from UCI Machine Learning Store for predicting the fetal heart rate health classes.  The Prediction of fetal health rate are achieved in six ways. Firstly, the data set is preprocessed with Feature Scaling and missing values. Secondly, exploratory data investigation is done and the dispersion of target feature is visualized. Thirdly, the raw data set is fitted to all the classifiers and the performance is analysed before and after feature scaling. Fourth, the raw data set is subjected to undersampling methods like NeighbourhoodCleaningRule, OneSidedSelection, RandomUnderSampler, TomekLinks, SmoteENN and SmoteTomek. Fifth, the undersampled dataset by above mentioned methods are fitted to all the classifiers and the performance is analyzed before and after feature scaling. Sixth, performance analysis is done using metrics like Precision, Recall, F-score, Accuracy and running time. The execution is done using python language under Spyder platform with Anaconda Navigator. Experimental results shows that the Random Forest classifier tends to retain 98% before and after feature scaling for the undersampling with NeighbourhoodCleaningRule, SmoteENN and SmoteTomek methods comparing to other methods

p-Laplace Variational Image Inpainting Model Using Riesz Fractional Differential Filter

    Get PDF
In this paper, p-Laplace variational image inpainting model with symmetric Riesz fractional differential filter is proposed. Variational inpainting models are very useful to restore many smaller damaged regions of an image. Integer order variational image inpainting models (especially second and fourth order) work well to complete the unknown regions. However, in the process of inpainting with these models, any of the unindented visual effects such as staircasing, speckle noise, edge blurring, or loss in contrast are introduced. Recently, fractional derivative operators were applied by researchers to restore the damaged regions of the image. Experimentation with these operators for variational image inpainting led to the conclusion that second order symmetric Riesz fractional differential operator not only completes the damaged regions effectively, but also reducing unintended effects. In this article, The filling process of damaged regions is based on the fractional central curvature term. The proposed model is compared with integer order variational models and also GrunwaldLetnikov fractional derivative based variational inpainting in terms of peak signal to noise ratio, structural similarity and mutual information
